[RP] Magi of Greece
This RP is another and of course awesome attempt at getting an RP run by me going here, I hope people who liked the last one will join this. This will be run by me so don’t try to control others, this will still allow you to develop characters and make the story your own. I will answer any questions anyone has. First to describe the system, here is the character desing thingy you must fill out to join:

Basics
Name: (nothing profane)
Gender: (male or female)
Age: (probably not to young or to old, everyone will be human with their first characters, and I will allow second ones if enough join to be elves or something)
Look: (physical features, this is where you brag about huge muscles)
Starting Place: (Corinth, Argolis, Athens, Sparta, Messenia)

Combat:
Class: (no gunners, things like knight, black mage, ninja, paladin, archer are fine- it doesn’t have to be said here for you to pick it.)
Equipment: (sword, spear, bow, staff, katana- no dual wielding to start but if you ask for it later I may allow it. Side weapons like a bow to support a sword character, or a wazikashi for a samurai is fine. Armor can be had but for everything have simple materials so you can get better stuff later.)
Abilities: (decided by me)
Limits: (whatever you want. Don't make it super powered. You will only get to use limits in a moment of high emotion, or if you've been damaged a lot, I'll tell you when. The stronger the limit is the rarer it is and later characters can get new limits after using the first one once or twice)

Description: (motives, beliefs, reasons for fighting which could be complicated or as simple as being indoctrinated. Personality goes here, you can have a backstory but don’t make it big, I want the story to develop within the RP not before.)

Other: (If there’s anything I missed you can add stuff here.)

The World
I’m taking Ancient Greece and changing it so as to fit an RP form (no you’re not forced to be a hoplite) remember as you read what’s below you don’t need to know anything about Greece to enter, it’s a setting most of which will be explained. It’s going to be in a somewhat Homeric setting with the various parts of history meshed together. People will have the option to start in different places. I’m not choosing Greece because I like Homer’s writing or think the myths are remotely interesting. What I like about it is the setting, it gives a value to war (Homeric) allows for some very different governments (Sparta, Athens and Messenia). So here are the various places each entrant can choose where to start out in. None of what’s below is very accurate, I’m not trying to be.

Places: (you can start in anyone of these places, Athens, Sparta, Messenia, Argolis, Corinth, Persia may take a major role but not yet and you can’t start there as may others.)

Athens: Athens has become a democracy utilizing a system called the “Council of 500,” the polis (state) of Attica is divided into 10 tribes of 50, each sets the political agenda for 1/10 of the year. A tribe is made of three thirds (to be historically correct trittyes) one from each of the three main places, coast, city and inland of Attica. As a democracy Athens has votes in which the Ekklesia of middle (hoplite in actual Greece but will call it middle) class votes on the agenda set by the Council. Athens at this point has a weak military but is the most populous polis.

Sparta: Sparta took over Messenia (another Polis) a few hundred years ago and it enslaved it’s people. After Messenia revolted and Sparta barely stopped it with new military knowledge of hoplites and black mages. Since then it’s educational system has been incredibly militaristic. It trains the middle/upper class to fight, teaching to be courageous and be able to deal with depravity. People are indoctrinated with this very young. Others not making this class are not really citizens. Sparta’s military has made it incredibly powerful but it has become paranoid about revolt and won’t send it’s army away from Sparta much. It however is powerful enough that it created the Pelopennesian league, all other polis’s in the Pelpennese (except Argolis) are commanded by it in military and foreign affairs, yet in neither is it willing to go far from home. Very strong land based military. Sparta is repulsed by Athens because Sparta is an Oligarchy which it considers the opposite.

Messenia: Enslaved by Sparta for hundreds of years it is a place where rebels are quite abundant. It has no government and power of it’s own, and as long as Sparta keeps it’s military close it seems impossible to revolt. Recently with the black mages becoming so effective in combat guerilla warfare has been effective, but the military crushes it quite brutally.

Argolis: Argolis avoided entering the league Sparta controls but as such has lost strength through trade and support. Argolis is a plutocracy, with class based on wealth. People with riches can manipulate and control the ever loose government. It’s quite weak but that weakness makes it easy to control.

Corinth: Corinth is not in the Pelopennese it is on the Isthmus between mainland Greece and the aforementioned. It’s an oligarchy but frequently tyrants occur (tyrant doesn’t necassarily mean oppresion, it means one is in charge which nobles fear as does Sparta). There are three classes that are noticed by the nobles. Areopagus or nobles make decisions have money and use the Ekklesia (middle class, with enough money to afford weapons and therefore have power) the second class is the Archons. Archons are the executives to Areopagus decisions, they carry them out. Usually being an Archon is the first step in a political career, followed by entering the Areopagus. The final group is the Ekklesia. Others are poor without any say and are therefore ignored by nobles, they have very, very little political power.

I hope you enjoy!

I’m thinking of calling chapter 1 of this story “the gullible.”

Edit: Oh yeah, I won't accept super powered characters- stupidity can get characters killed while good choices will be successful.

I'm just going to use my character I created for the "Own Character" thread. I'm going to have to power him down a bit too.

Name: Shiromoto
Gender: Male
Age: 18
Physical Description: about 6 feet tall, green eyes, red hair, caucasian, very agile, average sized muscles(don't want him to look like a roid addict).
Starting Place:Corinth
Profession/Class: Samurai
Equipment: Nodachi and Katana (just has Katana for now since we can only single wield for the start).
Race: Terran(story behind that, but his race is human for now)
Limit Break: Kobe! A barrage of slashes from his two legendary swords in a distinct way that hits all pressure points and can possibly disable the opponent for a few turns. Side Effect: Drains his speed(how's this?).

Description(different story than my one in the own character thread): a man who wants to be the best in his art, he travels and does different jobs such as escort duty and assassinations. He became this way since his parents died. He caught a glimpse of their killer, but didn't have the skill to fight then because he was 11. With his house in ashes he picks up whatever he had left and heads toward the city to train in the way of the samurai.

Personality: does not care for ppl who are tyrannous and do not care for others. He can be joking at times but serious for the most part. He can be apathetic at times as well(apathy=state of not caring). He loves to help when he is not in this mood and does anything no matter what the price(as long as he is capable of doing it of course). Friendly to the poor, a bit stubborn to the rich since they do not help the less fortunate(greedy ppl are the most vile to him). He is always quiet unless spoken to. He never asks questions unless if they are necessary(for instance, gathering information is necessary. getting someones number is unnecessary). He thinks a lot so he can think about what he will do next.

If there is anything u wish for me to edit and when u have the abilities i can have done, pls tell me and i ill edit my post. :D

a) There are no stats. The idea of this is for it to be like a story, instead of losing HP when your stabbed you actually well... get hurt or killed. Magic strains the body but doesn't need a stat. You might want to say if your character is especially agile for instance but not numbered, just mention it maybe in physical description.
b) For now there are no different races. If I begin including them he can be Terran, but for now just human... sorry.
c) Because there are no stats the special ability doesn't work but I do want limit breaks which I forgot to include (I'll add that now). I'll explain that in my edit so you can look there for more explanation.

Otherwise that's great.

Name: Reimus Harper
Gender: Male
Age: 19
Look: At least 5 foot 5, lean build, shoulder length brown hair tied at the back, reddish brown eyes, wears ecru colored shirt and pants, wears a small falcon-shaped pendant, small round earring on the right ear
Starting Place: Argolis

Class: Oracle/Acolyte (acolyte is a soon to be priest)

Bio: Being the son of one of the most profitable tradesman in Argolis, Reimus lived an easy life. This all changed, 10 years ago, when his mother, Reisha, died of an unknown disease, a disease with no cure whatsoever. His father, Mustafa, devastated of the event, became cold and distant, giving all of his attention to his wealth. He never cared for Reimus anymore, whenever he tried talking to his father he would always yell at him. But even though his father treated him very badly, he still cared for his father. He decided to study as a student in the temple to be able to understand life and its meaning.

Personality: Even though his father treated him badly, Reimus maintained his optimistic and cheerful nature. He believed that his father misses his mother a lot, that he still loves her. Name: Crey (REal name Grisan Galbo)
Gender: M
Age: 18
Look: Stands at about 5'9, Dark hair and green eyes. Crey looks fairly Lean but only fairly muscular. He has the body more of a runner than anything (I hope this is sounding right. On his lower back there is a scare in the shape of a cresent moon.
Starting Place: Argolis
Class: Warrior
Weapon: LOng spear
Limit Break: Spike - Focuses large amount of energy into the spear causing the head to spin at high speeds and thrusts it straight into the enemey.

Bio: At a young age he lived in Sparta. Until he was eight he had always been taught by his family that it was their duty to protect, which always made him wonder since his entire family was a wealthy polical family. He found it hipocritical since this was one of the families that was very high in the government that benifited off others sufferings. He began to grow very distant from his family, mostly keeping to himself. However all that changed when he turned ten. His family was massacred the morning before his birthday. He never saw the man who did it, for he was attacked from behind and left for dead, the only thing left on him was a scar in the shape of a crescent moon on his lower back. He came to the morning of the next day, feeling fine. It was the shock that made him pass out more so then the wound, but when he came to he had a revalation. Though his own family failed in their own code, to protect, he vowed to do just that. He snuck off before anyone realized he was still alive to hopefully avoid being followed. He snuck off with a long spear from the weapon shop and began to train himself in the art of warfare. He vowed to do everything in his power to protect those in need. At sixteen he finally thought he had learned enough skill and began wandering the lands, until he eventually ended up in Argolis where his story begins.

Personality: HE comes across as a fun loving guy always willing to share a laugh or story with people he meats. Though when a situation turns ugly, he is quick to change into a vicious fighter who won't let up until the fight is over. He will do what he can to help anyone in need even at the cost of his own suffering.

Heero Yuy NWZC, I'll PM you abilities, you'll know them but don't post them.

Seikon-Shoukougun, once you edit your character it's fine. One question, after playing FFT I think of an oracle as a status effect dealer. So is your character going to be more status based or healing based (from the limits I assume healing).

corncracker- good character! I like that you used the setup of the world in the description of your character. I have one question though, if your weapon is a long spear would you be more interested in having dragoon abilities (jump), or Hoplite skills instead?

Once people respond to these questions (make new posts to tell me that you've edited your character and I'll start the story. Hopefully someone else will join too.

I guess i'll join up. I could use something new.

Name: Kato Karoushi
Gender: Male
Age: 26
Look: Not terribly huge, but over average size. Stands about 6' 8" tall, chest size about 48" around. Black hair, shortish. (I'll sketch a pic later and i'll post it for you all.)
Starting Place: Outskirts of Corinth

Combat:
Class: Dark Knight
Equipment: Weapon: Broad Axe
Armour : Iron Curtain (Solid Iron breast plate, shoulder and thigh guards.)
Abilities:
Limits: Helms Divide (Jumps high into the air and slams the axe down onto the enemy, very similar to FFVII's Cloud's Braver.)

Description:
When he was just a child, about 10 years old, Kato's father was killed in battle against the Athenians (or whatever people from Athens are called). Although being a natural Spartan, Kato hated the Athenians more for what they had done to his father.
Only being in the low class of society, Kato couldn't enter into the Military, he ended up taking the darker route of training himself and obtaining his own weaponary. By the age of 15, Kato was forging his own weapons from Iron and Wood. He did sart to sell this weaponary to the military, but only earning copper for his work.
By the age of 18, Kato decided that it was time to move up in the world. It was time to make more money, more than the few copper a week anyway. Kato decided to go solo, as a knight, with a difference. He hired himself out to people as a one man knighthood. He would be a guard for anyone for a good price. He got good business, he climbed the society ladder and slowly became middle classed in the Spartan classification.
Now he was able to enter the Military and get good education, but he was too old for school. He decided to enter directly into the Military force at the age of 20. He got in, he had youth, strength and size on his side, as well as weapon forging skills.
Kato was successful for 3 years, until he decided that the Spartans were treating the soldiers badly, badly rationing them, sending them on duty with no food for hours, sometimes days. Kato soon saw that the Spartans were nothing more than power hungry. Kato gathered a few other soldiers who had the same thoughts. They left the Military, apparenly AWOL, they were never seen leaving the barracks, or around anywhere.
Kato began to study the dark arts of the Arcana to further enhance his skills and power, along with battle tactics.
Kato now hated both Spartans and the Athenians, the two power blocks of Greece itself. His story unfolds further.

Kato's Personality: He comes over as a rather Dark character, but all he is, is just thoughtful, he is constantly thinking of plans or anything really. He is very quiet when he is around anyone he doesn't know. He does become more friendly as he gets to know someone. However, he is not gullible, he will think through what is said and will think about what's happening.

As far as I can remember Greek literatures, oracles are sort of messengers (messenger of the gods?). They are the ones responsible for 'talking' and interpreting what the gods wish to do. They are also responsible for delivering the peoples messages to the gods. I want to be like that, not the FFT Oracle.

I'll start PMing abilities. Depending on the type of character people have they'll get more or less. If you want slightly different abilities or think there's something else that fits your class say so and I may give it to you now, maybe later. If you want a slight change in an ability I'll do that too. Oh and by the way, I like it when you type what a character is thinking as it gives a better feel of the character for me and definitely adds to who they are- you don't have to but it'd be cool.

Shadow Bahamut- Excellent character, I have no questions.

Seiken-Shokugun- Good bio, the oracle thing is great, but you'd have to understand that some people wouldn't take him seriously as an oracle without training (and that Delphi has the most prominent oracles)- of course this could add to the story. The two beginnings below may seem similar, but there's a reason for this.

Shiromoto
(I forgot to ask for this, could you please post his personality, thanks)
After getting up in the morning Shiromoto noticed a change in the people around him. There was much more steel around, for most everyone was armed. Some looked nervous and they kept their hands hovering close to the weapon. Others had swords casually at their side seeming to dare anyone to come near. Looking up and down the street he saw occasional men that seemed to be standing as guards watching everyone who passed.

Reimus
Recently in Argolis there has been a growing rabble of generally young people walking around the city carrying weapons and drawing them if anyone came near. The number grew every day. Of course this led to rumors of some sort of coop taking over the government. Others thought it was kids trying to make themselves feel power, but it was talked about- so whether it was important or now it wasn't secret as many coops are. That morning they had gone around and talked to people, telling them of a large meeting at the outskirts of the town. There had been a few scuffles, with people freaking when surrounded by these armed men, but now it seemed that everyone in the city was going to this meeting. Quite soon a group came over to Reimus and their self-appointed leader (you could see others wanted to talk) spoke "have you heard?" He looked Reimus up and down noting the staff.

Crey
(see situation above)
(A man also accosts you in the same way)

Kato
Kato's attention was dragged away from whatever he was doing as he heard the sound of marching in the distance. Looking out he saw hundreds of hoplites marching towards the village he lives (for the moment in). Very soon yelling began and people began to organize rapidly. About 300 feet away from the city the force stopped and 20 men walked forward towards the city. The leader of the village called out 20 men to come with him to meet what he supposed to be invaders. Names were yelled and among the voices, either from the leader or someone near him he heard his name.

"There's a meeting going on outside the village" say one, he quickly interrupted by another "yeah and everyone will go." They stand there for a second before one speaks quietly "aren't we supposed to say somethi-" once again someone interrupts "And it's about the great possibilities of leadership in Argolis." The groups gives you directions for where the meeting will take place and trundle off- what a great group.

Kato
Kamchi (the leader) turned to Kato and spoke "you, your some kind of warrior right?" Then he turned to the group at large "I don't know what going on but I'd like some warriors there while we go talk to their delegation." Other bureacrats began walking around talking to various people asking set of questions that clearly had no value and were purely for the sake of writing something, anything. Eventually he rounded up a group with a few fighters, and mostly officials of the town. Before heading off he gives the group instructions "Alright, unless your an official don't talk, unless it's something really important to say and it's not inflamatory." The high priest tries to grab a little power in the meeting "They won't attack us if our hearts our true... and we find a way to show them that it'd be more valuable to not attack this village the to attack it." Finally one last person asked a question before heading to meet the delegation "Is everyone hear coming or is anyone not interested?"
(I know this doesn't give you much to say, I'm setting a scene and if you want you can give thoughts on the situation/people involved or something)

Seiken-Shokugun seems to have momentarily left us...

In my posts I'm going to write short things about NPCs. They may have importance to the story and they may not, hopefully it will give more of a sense of different situations. Sometimes I will include this and sometimes I won't. I also may sometimes include what's the equivalent of newspaper articles, describing certain situations from a farther back view. These may be biased towards one side or another and may be propagande, but they will give a larger sense of what is occuring.

Shiromoto
The guard looked at Shiromoto like someone who's been up all night and is being payed too little. His posture straightens and he talks in a declarative, slightly pompous voice "The illustrious noble Vointu has seen it in his wisdom to construct a new rule over this Polis of Corinth. If you'd like to join his cause there are many recruiters around, they'll be yelling in such a fashion that it will be blatantly obvious who they are." He goes back to his pose of waking sleep and waves you off.

Crey
When you arrive at the place, you notice that this doesn't look like the kind of place where a discussion is held- more like the place where one charismatic speaker lectures or maybe just argues to a group of hopefully (at least in his eyes) approving people. You also notice that the gangs seem to be hanging around the edges of the area and watching people closely. The mood seems to be an unsure one with lots of people muttering to each other. Soon two brothers (Myro and Tensti) wave you over, they know you slightly. Tensti speaks to you first, he sounds eager to hear what they'll say but also in the mood to gossip "Hey, what do you think's going on?" He says then turns somewhat conspiratorial "I've heard the man's from Athens so perhaps he believes in democracy- pfft..." Myro isn't the type to talk about rumors and he discusses quite different things he's noticed "It seems to be highly military, I've heard that a tyrant has taken over Corinth, though this may not be accurate as you know how quickly scares go up. If that has happened it's definitely not good as the nobles driven out will spread, perhaps taking positions of power here." They both look at you expectant of a response, not noticing they've given you two different subjects to respond to.

Kirz
Location: Argolis (not near any Player Character)
He looked at the assembled crowd, he heard similar organizations were being held as power fell from the Areopagus of Argolis. He took a different attitude towards it. There was a tyrant in Corinth now, he'd drive away the nobles and be left without allies. Many unsuccessful tyrants would fall to the pressures, but recently tyrants would ally with each other becoming much harder to stop. So there was probably some party supporting one of the new leaders. Others would be leaders would copy in the hope that they could make a power grab as well. But none of this was important to Kirz though he took it in quickly. He was a Spartan, true to Sparta as long as they payed him well and therefore highly opposed to a single ruler or tyrant. His job was not to notice such or make guesses, he had been hired to disrupt it as his job was, as an assasin.

The two sit back an enter there conversation based on coming up with quick ideas and not really listening to the other person's points. After about 8 minutes, which was just enough time to get people to slow down with the rumors and begin waiting. A slightly tall man stood up and began to speak. His speech went on for a few minutes about equality. Everyone finding a way to be equal. Then he went on to speaking about Argolis. A land as he said "filled with possibility, and the only force in the Pelopennesian that can stand against the might of Sparta." The last topic he touched on was the need for strength to be able to grant equality to people without disturbance and without fear. Many seemed wrapped in his statements, others didn't pay attention. One kind of loud mouthed person a ways behind you was skeptical "and why must we stand against Sparta. Us being out of the Pelopennesian league has not made Sparta attack us. This argument draws on national pride but not morals." A few men took him slowly and quietly away. The crowd fell into discussion once again. Myro spoke first with a touch of fear in his voice "Did you see how they just took that man away?" this time Tensti was more to the point "Yeah... I liked the speech, I agree that we must form together and gain equality." Myro looked back and said "What does the term 'equality' mean exactly- fighting his wars?" The two began arguing at each other before Myro said "we're not the only ones here" he turns to Crey "what'd you think?"

Shiromoto
"Hello, would you be interested in joining the fabulous army of Vointu?" he spoke in a salesman voice and a few quick sentences shot from him with lots of positive meaningless statements but it came down to the question above. Most people skirted around the recruiter seeming uninterested in his sales pitch.

Reimus
The force seems surprised at someone not seeming at least slightly afraid of them but quickly rallies. They seem like a mob that follows whoever's given them a sense of power last. "There's an attempt at tyranny here! In another part of Argolis a man is trying to gain power to single handedly control this land. We're holding a meeting (he gives directions) to help us decide a course of action against such." The man steps back, proud of his short speech.

Kato
Around him the group began to move towards the talk with these troops slowly. The talk isn't very informative until the end as it is filled with diplomacy. Eventually it comes around that they're not explicitly taking over but they were driven out by the tyrant in Corinth. They actually want food and cash. While not explicitly stated, the threat seems pretty obvious. The leader asks for a little time to discuss this before heading back to the town. His response is a quite unexpected one. Apparently the town doesn't have enough money to pay for what they've demanded, he begins making evacuation plans. However something about his plan seems odd. He's holding back with a few trusted men to "hold them off as long as possible." Yet he's not bringing enough men to do anything. The immediate evacuation begins and people trail out quickly at the other side, carrying very little. Most of the value in the town seems to be left. The tactic seems pointless as if all the people gave up this much the force could be payed off. But it all occured very quickly and people were leaving without thought.

The speaker is surrounded by a few people who he's talking to and there are a few men around them who look thuggish. Another man strides out of it and goes to start a second speech. He does and starts another short speech, this time about military necessity. The need for power and what the listeners can do by joining the army. He stresses unity and equality again but mentions "ample renumeration" during his speech which gets a rise from the crowds. After naming himself 'Colonel Toiyu' he goes back to the huddled group he cam from and the crowd goes back to their rumor based discussions.

Reimus
He goes to the meeting to find a crowd about the same as the one that Crey finds- so you don't have to look, gossipping, rumors, loud voices and yelling for the speech to start characterized the crowd. Reimus was quickly dragged in by the crowd and ended up in the middle of a group talking about Corinth "Tyranny is wrong- no single person should rule all others. Sparta has the right idea, it fights it all it can. And your idea" he says pointing to the man across "is nuts. Athens is a terrible model, it's 'democracy' is just as bad. One man can manipulate masses so easily that it results in the same system- except that people are tricked into thinking they have influence. By joining a phalanx you have value that you can use- importance gained by yourself." The man across looked angry as he responded "Yeah, that way people will never be equal." The answer was immediate "So idealistic. So gullible." A blade was drawn immediately and the man defending democracy slashed out with his short sword which was barely blocked by a long dagger. This knocked the sword in front of Reimus' face as the crowd moved away from this duel.

"All we wanted was some food and water....what does it take? a war? hmph! seems like it. That's all it's about these days, money and war..." Kato began to think. "Well, if they want war, i'm fighting for what i want..i'll be the first to the line..."

Shiromoto
The man ignores the look and brings you over to another group, one with lots of swords. It seems pretty badly organized but eventually the group is rounded up. After a few hours about forty people including Shiromoto leave the town, are given food and begin marching through a long pass. About halfway through the leader of the group stopped everyone. "You're going to have to learn how to work together so you should probably fence with each other a bit or at least check the magic skill of your allies." A large man begins taking out mid length covered swords and giving them to people who soon begin dueling.

Reimus
The statement is ignored by many in the noise, and the two come at each other again. The blade comes up and the believer in Sparta dodges it before slashing out cutting the man's wrist and making him drop his sword. The defeated man falls back pulling off his shirt to cover the wound as he rushes away into the crowd. The winner holds the dagger in front him for a second before putting it away cautiously. Looking around their are a few other scuffles occuring, and no one seems to be coming up to speak yet.

Crey
The crowds seem to keep the state they've been in so far, but you notice at the edge the gangs have started drifting away, all in one direction. One last man comes up, first he hushes the crowd before asking if anyone has any questions. His responses to inquiries are generally not quite relevant (unless it was a simple question) and sometimes ignore points or leave them to faith. It's not always manipulative but about a third of the answers seem faulty.

Kato
The leader of the town spots you standing there and rushes over "You can't stay here, everyone's fleeing- you have to help. We'll hold the off as long as we can." His men don't seem to be preparing for battle though as you see them rushing off.

The gangs all head towards a warehouse, every couple hundred yards a few men stay behind to stop people following but are easy enough to avoid. The warehouse looks like the type of place where weapons are stored but there are too many guards to be able to get through. A few minutes later more gangs start carrying weapons to this storage place, you also notice a few Corinthian uniforms helping bring the armaments in. It looks likely that you'll be spotted with the amount of people now coming through.

Reimus
The speaker now comes up. He's clearly quite manipulative and the fact that it's so obvious means it's badly done. When not skirting around the issue, he mentions that forces have been shooting up throughout Corinth and people need to come together to defend ourselves. Somehow in the way politicians manage to do he somehow extrapolates from this point that we need to also fight offensively, pre-emptive strikes. He soon steps down and the squabbles start up again. The next man to come up looks very, very strong. He carries two large battleaxes and immediately the crowd gets quiet. "In this time of need we need to be strong, only strength can administer justice in a world of violence. I'm a weapons dealer and I help to give this power to rightful people in need" he looks around seeming to look everyone in the eye, surprisingly the crowd stays quiet even when he pauses for a few seconds "I have brought weapons to this land with which anyone who joins the army we're now creating may use." His speech goes on a little, he's very charismatic and doesn't repeat arguments. The next speaker comes up clarifies a few points such as: people who already have weapons will not get more and a few other side points. The talk culminates in them asking for anyone interested in joining the force to stay.

Shiromoto
Most of the people do seem terrible, attempts to look cool are pretty sad yet some also seem somewhat skillful, not great but not bad. The leader looks with amusement at the group before stopping them eventually and telling them his name "Captain Frurei," he then organized the men differently trying to show them the simpler battling form of the phalanx. Each person is given an actual shield to use and a covered spear to wield. Those that had not made fools of each other (including Shiromoto) he brought into a different group and paired them off into fights against each other. Each person had a covered sword and some light armor so that they couldn't get hurt. Shiromoto's opponent had looked like a passive competent fighter previously- they started 20 feet away and the opponent stood still holding the sword straight out in front of him (standard fencer pose, Seifer style).

Kato
Quite odly the men don't seem to respond in an expected way. They don't even get angry at him for yelling at them, they give him a cold look before... going into the now empty houses and taking out valuables. Some noise causes Kato to turn around to see the leader quietly approaching with sword drawn. He steps back as Kato turns before coming towards him again. Another man begins to come towards him from behind as the others continue to rob the various houses. (just to note, characters aren't invincible in this RP- fighting a lot of people at once can be very risky, depending on their weapon/magic skill).

i stare at my opponent, but not in the eyes. i scan his body looking for a weak point. as i come close to finding it, he begins his assault with a sprint to a horizontal slash at my waist. i dodge it with the blade missing about five inches away from its target. i did not wish to hurt him even though he was trying to seem like the best, and he aggravated me by his cheap attempts of getting me out quick. most of the other men fighting were taking quick glimpses of our spar and they admired his persistance. after five minutes of dodging, i decide to end this. he comes toward me and then attempts a vertical slash right in front of me. i move to the left. he turns and brings the grounded sword upward in a diagonal slice. i vanish before his eyes right before the blade reaches me. what i did was actually quite simple. as he brought the blade up he quickly looked back at his sword. this is when i moved quickly behind him, so as he looks back at where i was he sees no one there. when the sword finishes its angular attack, i bump the man foward making him fall to the ground, and as he turns to try and atack, i put this training sword right in front of his face. he stands still for just a few moments, but then finally drops his sword.

NO deciding what other's do. I didn't make this clear in my posts so it's my fault and I'm sorry but it would be really nice if it could be avoided from now. I know this will slow things down so if it's part of a fight and only one person has posted I will post what the opponent does to make it go faster. Sorry I didn't make it clearer. In case people don't read this I'll point it out in the individual posts.

Ummm... no- I decide other's actions, otherwise fights are kind of pointless. It's not going to be especially difficult but I'll tell you what he does. He continues to hold the blade forward in the Seiferesque pose as he stares you in the eye hoping to read your movement.

Crey
It seems to be mostly a weapons facility. Yet there are also bureacrats working at one end yelling things out to each other about other Polis's like Corinth. Some people are fencing with each other. They use uncovered weapons and some get stabbed. It seems to be done for honor not sensible training and someone quickly comes over to you and speaks "I don't think I know you. Let's fight." He has an odd glint in his eye and he immediately pulls out to short swords in a cocky fashion.

Kato
Just in case you didn't read the top, I'm not going to let people control others- sorry. Your actions will devide whether you win fights. The man hops back slowly and his chest plate is cut by the axe knocing him head over heels but the man behind you slashes at you with a sword as the leader begins to stand up speaking quickly "They won't die- but we'll be richer, you could be richer too..."

Reimus

The other man who is noticably bigger now steps up "yar" he agreed. "We don't have anything against you but slander will be a capital crime in our new commonwealth, we will start now." He leaves the alley and the other man approaches pulling out a large club. One hand shoves you back quickly as he pulls it to his shoulders.

The man's response is very quick as he hops it and takes a slash at your side with one sword, the range seems two short though.

Kato
The shadow swirls behind you and in front as more blood is pushed out of your body. The shadow encompasses the man behind you, devouring him. In front the man is farther away but the power still reaches him, covers him and pulls away leaving him wounded with a pool of blood over him. They are both defeated too quickly for a noise. Someone screams and people begin to run. Which is lucky because the attack took it's toll on Kato as well. Kato
Looking at a map he notes nearby territories. There are a few small villages, but one catches his eye over others. A small recently inhabited town said to be filled with Spartans who had left fearing it's war sense but also interested in finding great power- some had been part of the famous recent studies into mage powers, not the previously known soul powers (an example of soul power would be the darkness move). The town is known for developing power specifically to support tyrannys as even after leaving Sparta many of the notions remain. It's about four hours walk away but there's a village on the way. Named Uiko (made up as most town names will be) it's known for big drinking parties at certain times during the year, but it should be reasonably quiet around now.

Shiromoto
The blade is knoched out of his grip and he's torn between trying to wait to get it back after it falls or retreating, the indecisiveness causes him to be hit again losing the fight. "Excellent" the leader walks over, "I'm going to place you in charge of a small division as we begin our march and in combat." Within a few hours the group is divided into divisions, Shiromoto's has two mages whose power he's not yet had time to evaluate. A third is utterly unexperienced, and the last man under you looks like a reasonably experienced hoplites. The organization is based around small groups making individual decisions in conjunction with a larger plan led by the main contingent. There are some problems with this as hoplites are usually effective together instead of split up, but it allows for innovation. The troops begin their march to support Argolis. This gives time to talk to other troops and think about battle plans.

The first mage can cast basic black magic accurately up to about 50 feet. The second has white magic and can only cast at quite close range (say 10-15 feet at the max). The hoplite seems reasonably competent and the swordsman inept, but with maybe a possibility for improvement as most people are pretty inept when not used to fighting. The group arrives at a village and camps there giving Shiromoto time to wander around. It has the standard necessities like a bar and inn as well as a few simple shops. You have now entered Argolis and are in a border town.

Christmas
Umm... sorry- the other one kind of died so I decided to start another when I got an idea. Hopefully I can keep this going a little longer.
The bio is fine. Just a little information on Athens as no one else has started there, the hoplite Phalanx and black mages came to Athens around 30-40 years ago. They would be hired by various nobles who'd use them in competition and to gain power over others (think homeric Greece, valor, courage and honor are major values). They would gain power through being used as they were more necassary to the nobles power. This worked to bring some sense of democracy to Athens as it let the middle class rise up. This also effected other types of fighters as warriors increased in value and power. (btw a lot of events are clumped together for the sake of this story to work better with actual occurences). To add to this sense of democracy a silver vein was found in Attica which was used to finance a huge navy. Instead of the hoplites who only brought power to the middle class (people who could afford the armor) anyone could join the navy adding to the democratic sense- through war and violence.

Before I send abilities, is Christmas more a paladin (what she usually is) or knight?

Christmas starts off as a standard soldier in Athens. She is one of the much smaller number that is not part of it's huge, controlling navy. With the many politicians attempting to gain control of Argolis and the tyranny in Corinth, Athens has thought about getting involved. However they are both in the Pelopennese which is Spartan territory, so entering would be risky. However Sparta's fear of revolt makes them unwilling to leave their polis. So Athens has determined to send a force to Argolis which never joined the Spartan league and perhaps grab some control there. Christmas is a part of this force. They have entered Argolis and are camping out of a city which has one of the rabble rousers speaking. They are thinking of invading but the captains seem unsure, and the force seems badly led with about 300 people and 3 very different commanding officers. It's ended up seeming that each division has the power to do what they want. (This is occuring where Crey is so for more info on the place you can read up there- the early posts relate to it). The leader of your small division (each division has 20 people) calls everyone in it over and asks if people are interested in going in and listening to the speaker or at least collect info?

Oh, and thanks for joining I hope this long post hasn't put you off.

Crey
The man crumples and screams he falls away and runs taking a look at the gash. A man behind you hiding in the shadows comes out careful to make noise so he wouldn't be considered an attacker "you're a fake" he says easily "how would you like to actually have a stand in this attempt for freedom." He smiles slightly at this last statement and his voice sounds sarcastic as he looks questioningly at you.

Kato
Kato reaches the village on the way there to see a reasonable # of troops camped in it. However he's weak and it doesn't look dangerous, on the other hand there's always threat from armies. All in all his question about acceptance doesn't seem to be getting an immediate response.

Crey
The man stands there for a few seconds before responding "This world is based around elements. People are made by these elements coming together so that we form. This is what we're most interested in, but to continue this study we must see the effect of coming together's opposite, we do this through war." He gives you a close look to see how you're responding to this "However, we don't want massive death, and we don't want it to be meaningless. We managed to have a man gain power in Corinth, and now we're trying to bring that power to Argolis. We'll lose Corinth soon and want a hold on Argolis- a land no on cares about as it's out of the Pelopennese. We brought in speakers to get people interested in fighting for power and freedom in a few places, which would hopefully create combat where people can rise up and kick out the Areopagus here. However imitators have shot up all over and it looks like much more vicious was may occur. We're at this point attempting to build up a few places that look to have the advantage and will be able to ally each other into effective war machines such that they can win quickly with as little blood shed as possible." Once again you fall under his scrutiny "these are the basics of the situation. If Argolis can gain the democracy of Athens we will have succeeded."

Reimus
The man keeps his left hand (weaker arm) always covering a spot on his hip. It looks like it might just be his standard posture but it's very static, never leaving the spot, he also has what looks like a bruise a few days old on his neck and another on his left arm. He pulls the club back and this time swings much faster... and much more commitingly.

Kato
(it's fine)
You are stopped at the gate by a few men. They ask for your name and what you're doing. While doing this they were obviously nervous as there was no officer and they looked like they hadn't worked together long. As you approach one runs off while the others ask you the questions above.

Shiromoto
As night falls a man assigned to guard duty runs into the room and speaks to the commander "there's some guy outside the town who looks injured, the other s told me to come tell you," the response is quick and curt "is he armed?" Hearing the answer "yes" he points over to Shiromoto and his squad and speaks "come" before leaving the room.

Reimus managed to block the man's attack with his staff. The impact, however, caused him to fall on his back. Regaining his balance, Reimus noticed the man's left arm. (His left arm is bruised. If I could just hit it hard enough for it to bleed, then maybe I can outtake him. Or if not buy me enough time to make an exit.) And with his staff, tried to hit the man's left arm

"That's not the objective you'd specifically be targeting, I don't think that's important for you to know" he makes a quick decision "but whether it has other value or not we believe in understanding how this world works."

Kato and Shiromoto
A man with a much more official look approaches Kato followed by a small group of troops (including Shiromoto). The man gives Kato a quick, appraising look "you don't look dangerous- there's some space in the inn not taken up by our troops. You look in pretty bad shape" he points to the white mage under Shiromoto's command "you fix him up, the rest of you can go to sleep if you want or whatever" he leaves. The white mage of Shiromoto's party begins healing Kato. He heals quite ineffectively and slowly but the job slowly gets done.

Reimus
Reimus was knocked back by the blow, but when the man went back to sneer at him, the staff shot out slamming the thug in his arm. He yells angrily "aarghhh" he charges as fast as he can, dropping the club and going for you with his hands outstretched.

"Forget it," Crey Spat, "Understanding of our world isn't as important as you'd think. People live in this world, it is what we make it to be. No life is worth sacrificing for such a stupid cause. And I promise you if the bloodshed starts to get out of control, I'll personally return to deal with you."

And then Crey leaves the place, and begins to check the streets of the city. Finding out how many people this guy had incited to war.

The crowds range in interest. Many have gone back to their normal lives, but about two thirds are discussing what was said, and at least half of those people speak positively. A few people are mentioning that their seem to be some Athenian soldiers residing outside the city.

Reimus
The man falls heavily and scrambles back, moving far quicker than expected. Very quickly he was out of the ally and gone leaving Reimus alone. For the moment the area seems calm but you remember that their were others earlier.

(this is not a post to do with any characters- look above for that, it shows a part of the story which has not yet been developed)

Pelopennesian Chronicles
Our neighbors to the north in mainland Greece have been suffering under the control of the vicious Persian empire. Most of Thessaly has fallen and Thermopalye seems to be the best point for a defense to stand against these invaders. Athens has pushed forward this plan but it strikes as naive and problematic. Mainland Greece should be important to all of us, but what good is a defense of Athens if in turn Sparta must fall? The Persians are numerous in their number and we must not risk Sparta to win a single battle. Messenia has long staged revolt in their hearts against the power of the Pelopennese, always dreaming of breaking free of this power which gives everyone so much. If Sparta was to send the army to Thermopalye in the north this could be the downfall of the roots of our world. Corinth has suggested to the acclaim of more sensible nations than Athens that we must build a wall so as to keep the Persians permanently out of our fatherland. Once we have created this invincibility against the Persians we can offer refuge and safety to our neighbors. If Athens and the other powers need help they should not make such selfish naive declarations of battle, but they should enter a compromise, and is this fashion all shall fall into it's rightful place.

First, the above post made is common knowledge to all characters once I post it. It allows me to develop side plots that will change various parts of how Greece works.

Shiromoto and Kato
(waiting for Kato to post a reply...)
The mage apoligizes "I'm sorry, this is the best I can do." He looks abashed and continues work slightly slower as he seems to have lost a little concentration.

Reimus
You hear the noise of other people starting to leave the meeting as the man with the thug originally steps out of the shadows carrying two daggers. He tosses one into the air and catches it easily before looking at you, clearly expecting surrender.

Crey
(You're in different parts of Argolis so I wasn't thinking of connecting you two. I was thinking Christmas but as she hasn't posted that's probably not going to occur. Perhaps Kato and Shiromoto, who are at the border, but that doesn't seem like a great storyline idea, so meeting with Reimus can happen as I am trying to connect people up.)

Crey travels a far distance and reaches a reasonably sized city nearer the border that seems to have had a similar degree of rabble rousing as your home city. Though the people here seem a bit more positive towards this warmongering. As you enter the city a scuffle breaks out. One side is charging, not very well armed led by a man yelling stuff akin to what you heared the speaker say in the town you were in previously. The other side seems to be built of a heavily armed young man, holding people away a staff, leaving his more dangerous weapons untouched. He's backed by what looks like town people supporting him, armed noticably worse than the other side. There haven't seem to be any deaths but there are a few casualties who have gotten out of harms way after the injury.

Best break this up before it gets out of control Crey thinks to himself as he puts hemself between the townsfolk and the man they are backing up and the charging people who follow the weird retoric of the speaker. I help the warrior with the staff out with holding off the advance and say, "I suggest you stop coming and talk, I don't want to fight, but if you chose to continue my spear will show no mercy!" He moves in close making sure to stay just far enough away to avoid the staff.

Shiromoto
(oh, sorry)
He goes to sleep and after what feels like a few minutes he's awakened by men running around preparing to move once again. The message going around is that one city in Argolis is attacking another. The soldiers in Shiromoto's group are going to help in the offensive. The rumor is that they'll be a side force attempting to break into the city as the main force initiates a major attack. The city under attack holds a majority of the Areopagus and will probably break down the political structure of Argolis allowing for a new government. It seems to be taking a little while before the force actually leaves to go join this battle. The atmosphere is chaotic as soldiers run all over the town to the annoyance of the people. The mayor comes out and begins accusing soldiers of minor items that have gone missing.

Crey
(yeah, I thought that was problematic, and I was too lazy to look for it in your bio... I was talking about the town you just left.)
The man leading this battle spoke in response "The people in between don't matter, get the target!" A light emanated from his hands moving behind and entering his allies. The men who had already been quite willing to fight grew frenzied as this red light swept around them. They began slicing forward viciously in an unorganized stream. A few people standing by at the edge of the fight are also brought in by the red light. The people on that side of the combat very quickly out number the villagers by a reasonable amount. The heavily armed young man speaks to you "better get out of here, all of you." His staff shoots out quickly disarming a man in front of him, he then dodges immediately to the left before slamming the back of a man's arm knocking his weapon away. Crey is engaged by a man carrying a rusty old blade (guaranteed to add tetanus to the terrors of war) who slashes from side to side in the berserked style all of the men are fighting in.

Kato
Kato wakes up fully healed and in good condition to the noise of an argument breaking out between the mayor and a few troops. It's over money for staying and certain items that have disappeared during the armies stay. A quiet, shy knock at the door and the white mage from the night before comes in asking "need anything? There's breakfast downstairs. Though I'm not sure what the payment situation at the moment is." He leaves and heads down the stairs to the bottom of the inn.

"alright. a battle has finally emerged," i said with some interest. I rush out and see the rushed soldiers. "Hey you, get those weapons stocked in the wagons! You over there, get as many supplies as necessary!" I see a portly man yelling at our troops. I approach him. "Is there a problem sir?" "There sure is," he says in a pompous tone. "Many items have gone missing from households throughout this town. We belive that some of your soldiers are the cause of this." I look around. Some of the soldiers do seem to be the mischevious types. "Alright, i'll see what i can do." I walk around and look for items out of the ordinary. As i pass one tent, i hear a snicker from inside. I go in and not to my surprise, soldiers are there with a pile of items that were not with us in the first place. Anger fills my face. "ALRIGHT YOU CONNIVING LITTLE BASTARDS!!!"

(as I'm not an Aeris user... and never have been I'm not sure what that looks like, I'll just let the blow go to your advantage as I don't feel like waiting for another post)
The blow strikes the man in the side of the head, he falls nimbly and throws a dagger at high speeds at your chest.

Crey
The man pulls a blade and mutters something causing a new light to emanate. While Crey charges it's hard to get out of the way and he feels a clamp come around his ability to use his powers (knight spells). The firebrand cast stays though.

Shiromoto
(About halfway through that got to be too large an assumption, cancel the pompous tone and make it angry and will go from you looking at the soldiers)
The soldiers seem like some people anywhere, willing to take a profit when they see it. They'd never take something bigger than is easily hidable and it'd probably be pointless to look for items. Just another unavoidable problem with working with such an untrained force. (I'm now skipping a bit of what you said) Your group gets ready to move and begins their march. The force leaves the city and heads out, traveling for a few days to get to the target city. They reach there and camp with the larger army that will lead the main attack. It seems slightly better organized with troops better trained, but with all the beer getting past around it's quite unruly. The force you came in quickly joins this atmosphere. (Hope you do good in the basketball games!)

Kato
As he goes over some of the men leave the village (including Shiromoto). The only people left are the commander of the force and a few troops. As you come the mayor speaks angrily "These hoodlums have been taking."
He is immediately interrupted by the harsh tone of the captain "How dare you accuse our force!? We payed for the hospitality and consistently acted within bounds even when you tried to scrounge extra money out of us!"
The response is immediate, as this argument escalates "Yeah, when was that? You made threats to the village, so we had to give you special rates for staying here and you also expected free food- we're not going to let you get away from one more felony."
The leader looked at him, seeming to have calmed down a little "Alright I'll take my patronage else where." He begins to leave.
"WHAT?!?!" yells the mayor "you owe us big."

Shiromoto
The city has a small wall surrounding it (siege weapon's haven't yet been invented) and looks quite hard to take- besieging seems like a better strategy, this attack looks difficult to have work effectively. Perhaps magic would be most effective. You notice on the outskirts of the city, a few hundred feet outside the walls a few huts.
