Kingdoms at War [RPG]

This is going to be much different from most of the roleplays on this site at the moment. It is going to be more story-driven, and while I invite everybody to play, I do ask that you follow some basic rules.

1. Try to use proper grammar and spelling. I'm not going to be a complete nazi about it, but it makes it easier for myself and the other players to understand what it is you are trying to say.

2. Do not control anything that is not your character, on your characters person, or inanimate and unattended. You may not tell other players what action their own character takes, you may not assume you can wrest a sword from a player's hand, etc. etc..

3. Do not go outside your perameters. When you join, I will be PMing you a specific list of skills, abilities, and equipment. You might pick up a few more over the course of the game, but don't use anything beyond it.

4. If you are killed, you have the choice of either making a new character or respawning in a temple or other such place of ressurection depending on your factional alignment.

Story

The Tazmarian province is home to three contending races, the Humans, the Elves, and the Dwarves.

The dwarves live in the mountains to the north, and have access to rich deposits of ore. They are able to craft weapons and armor of high quality, and their tools are a precious commodity.

The elves live in the forests to the east. The wood of the forests is sturdy and strong, and they are able to craft many things with it. Furthermore, the forest sits upon a magical wellspring that allows the elves great mastery over the magical arts.

The humans live in the plains to the south. It is a fertile place with plenty of good land for farming and grazing.

While all three territories have the ability to sustain themselves, it is unsure for how long this will continue. There is little suitable farmland in the dwarven mountain ranges, and their food supplies are growing dangerously scare. The elves lack the iron necessary for their tools. The humans have plenty of fertile land, but they lack the means to till it.

While each race stubbornly guards their own treasures, they covet the treasures of the other races. It has come to war. What side will you choose?

Classes

Classes define how your character has chosen to specialize. You may not change classes, but there are enough classes to suit just about any particular character idea. If there is not a class that you feel represents what you wish to play, PM me and I can attempt to accomodate you.

Warrior: Standard class that employs great weapon skill to defeat their opponents.
Elementalist: Powerful arcanist that can wield magic with ease. Elementalists choose a certain element to specialize in, at the expense of another. For a list of elements, see below.
Priest: A wielder of Divine Magic, Priests can channel divine energy to heal their friends and punish their enemies.
Battle Mage: Battle Mages specialize equally in magic and swordplay. While not excelling at either, they have a good mix of physical and magical prowess. Like elementalists, Battle Mages must choose which element they specialize in.
Berserker: A powerful warrior who flies into a rage when in battle. Berserkers have mastered the lycanthropic arts, and can become powerful werebeasts while enraged.
Paladin: Paladins are decent fighters with the ability to wield divine magic. Like the Battle Mage, they excel at neither but have a bit of both.
Ranger: Like the warrior, Rangers are good fighters, but they tend to focus more on long-ranged combat than on melee combat. Rangers are excellent trackers and work well in the wilderness.
Thief: Thieves are swift and cunning, able to disarm another person as easily as they can disarm a trap or pick a lock. Less focused on combat and more focused on stealth and strategy.
Necromancer: A magic user that wields the magic of death. While often stigmatized a Necromancer isn't necessarily evil, their magical arts just deal with that which many find distasteful or disgusting.
Dark Knight: A decent warrior with the ability to wield limited necromantic magic, Dark Knights offer a balanced mix of abilities.
Druid: A master of nature magic, Druids are able to bend nature to their wills.
Summoner: A being heavily intuned with the spirit world, Summoners can call forth great spirits to fight for them.
Technomancer: Technomancers are mysterious sorcerers with the ability to animate objects and bring them into battle. From tables to candlesticks to stones, Technomancers give life to the unliving.
Assassin: While the thief's stealth can be used for any number of tasks, the Assassin's stealth has one primary purpose: murder. Assassins are secret operatives under the employ of many kingdoms. Their missions are varied, but usually involve the capture or elimination of a prime target.
Soul Sword: A powerful mystic who is intuned with their own spiritual energies, Soul Swords unleash their ki energy in the form of blades for use against their foes. Their focus is almost exclusively on their spiritual blades, and they are trained to fight with them with great proficiency.
Monk: Monks dwell in secluded monasteries. Masters of the martial arts, they are calm, serene, and utterly deadly. Monks are highly skilled in the ways of unarmed combat.
Shaman: A channeler of the spirit world, unlike Necromancers shaman deal with "pure" spirits, the spirits of those who have passed on and the spirits that dwell within nature.
Spiritualist: Warriors who channel spirits to aid them in combat, Spiritualists are not as good at wielding and channeling spirits as the shaman, but are much more proficient in combat.

Elements

There are four elements, they each govern a different kind of magic. Battle Mages and Elementalists must pick a specialized element. They cannot cast spells in opposition to their element.

Air: The air element is swift and tricky. Air spells can range from invisibility and silence spells to lightning and storm spells.
Fire: Fire is a powerful destroyer. Fire spells focus on the destructive nature of the flame, empowering people and consuming others in its fury.
Earth: Steady and solid, earth spells can be both powerful and protective. While one can summon an Earthquake or hurl magic boulders at their foes, one can also use the earth to protect and defend.
Water: Water is an ever-changing, cleansing element. Spells can reflect both the calm and the fury that water embodies. Tidal Waves and torrents of ice or shapechanging spells and cleansing spells, these are the domains of water.

Just want to warn you: Although the current RPs started before this month are safe, CK's and Admin's have been discussing whether they should just remove threads about RPs since A&W is about creative writing, not gaming. Me and a bunch of others were pretty much told off. We were told to put our RPs in Gamers-Alliance.org which is a subsidiary of EyesonFF.

I've been part of the discussion. This is an interactive storyline, if the other mods have problems with it, I have no qualms with shutting it down.

Faust was walking along a long, winding path as the faint smell of a fresh kill was noticed, a good sign for Faust. A smirk appeared on his lips and he continued down the path, his towering scyth like a feather in his hand. He drew nearer to the smell, which peaked his intrest, as he found out what the creature was.

He drew into the area and looked around, finally finding what he was looking for near a boulder near the path.

You see a massive, golden maned griffon standing over the body of what appears to be a badly maimed human. The griffon is eating from a gaping wound in the human's belly.

Elzic wondered what could of done this. Who would destroy the beatiful forests.Elzic was furiated.

Elzic

You hear a crash nearby.

Faust examined the creature before lifting his Scythe,now covered with ice shards, and threw it downward at the creature with unnatrual speed.

I depart from the forest watch tower to leave for the High Council. I depart my mind in a fury of thought. I almost don't notice my surroundings. Then my body felt at unease, alert...

Faust

The griffon was so busy with its meal that it didn't even sense your approach. Your scythe opens a massive gash in its neck, causing it to shriek in pain before falling to the ground, dead.

Celadine

The forest is strangely silent, you do not hear the sound of any animals.

Finn hid in the dense forest trying to listen for any unwanted guests over the rythmic thunk of metal on wood. They had surveyed the area beforehand and all seemed to be clear but with these damn elves you never know. He pushed himself closer to the damp bark, there was very little chance of him being seen, but he knew too well that they were in an area that was home to creatures that could conceal themselfs better than any ranger. Then he heard a grunt from the now treeless clearing, it was time to move.

Finn

One of your Ranger companions signals to you, and you see an adolescent boar flee from the area. It was only an animal. Another tree falls. Only a few more are needed to reach the quota.

finn took a slow, steady breath. Playing the waiting game always made him nervous. He slowly calmed himself and after 10 seconds was back on alert. shouldn't be long.

Another tree falls. It won't be long now.

"Tis odd, the forest is usually alive with its own music, but unless my ears betray me, tis fallen still." I quicken my pace to reach the High Council for matters somewhat beyond the silence of the trees, hopefully.....

Celadine

You hear a loud crash, as if a tree had fallen. It is east of your location, near the outskirts of the forest.

I peer queerily towards the direction of the sound, as if doubting it. To the best of my abilities, i scout out the sound moving through the canopy of the trees.

Faust smiled, before kicking the body away, searchig for anything left behind.

You see a small band of four humans chopping down trees in the area. They appear to be unprotected, but more could easily be hidden in the trees. They have already felled four trees and are working on five.

Faust

The sound of ragged breathing alerts you to the fact that the man is still alive. He is dressed in torn leather armor, and he carries a short sword, which is clenched tightly in his pale hands. His belly is torn open, and his entrails sundered. He has very little time left to live.

Wears mythril chainmail (light yet strong in nature), and light metallic skeletal coverings. By skeletal coverings, I mean they protect your bones from breaking. Wield a massive broadsword which he mostly carries on his back.

I stand in the king's court alongside my brother swordsmen.
The king turns to me.
"Attend me." He commands.
I approach without pause. As I close, I genuflect.

Haust

"Noble Haust, I have a task for you," the king says in a voice that, while imperious, is also respectful of your prowess and station.

Haust

As usual, I remain silent. I never speak unless I am giving commands. Even the king has rarely heard my voice.

Haust

"Haust, there is a convoy of dwarven miners traveling through the Lahae pass. They are well protected by dwarven heavy infantry. The convoy is carrying mythril, as well as other metals. I need it captured. Take a contingent of one thousand men and take the convoy."

(Um...I already have something in my shell.. can I put him in as well?)

Haust

I signal my comrades to fortify in my absence. I have rarely left the king's side. However, I must trust my "brethren."

I rally a fifty score and order the march toward Lahae Pass.

Haust

Your troops march with precision and ease, as befits soldiers of their rank and training. Within hours, you approach the part of the pass the convoy should be at.

Questions first. I've never RPed before, does it involve knowledge? And if it isn't my "bag" do I have to continue?

"Spread out. Cloak yourselves in the foliage. When the convoy arrives, keep them thin. We'll decimate them easily."

Haust

The soldiers obey without question, carefully fanning out around the pass. About half an hour after your troops come into position, you notice the shape of several wagons to the south. They appear to be coming your way.

Waltz followed the soldiers to see what the commotion was about, hoping for an excuse to show his skills.

Waltz

You note two soldiers move past a line of what could only be classified as adventurers. Although all are human, they are dressed in wildly different outfits. Some carry weapons, some do not, some are obviously spellcasters while some appear to be thieves and cuthroats. At the front of the line, two soldiers sit at a desk, talking to the people in line and taking down names.

Intrigued by these adventurers, Waltz loses interest in the matter of the soldiers and joins the line, he asks a Warrior infront of him what the line is for.

Waltz

"They've been hiring mercenaries all day. I guess they need some people to raid an elf settlement, but they don't want to divert the army from what it's already doing. The pay is supposed to be really good!"

Haust

A soldier at my side quakes in restless anticipation.
"Steady, man." I demand he collect himself.

"Finally, just what I've been looking for." Waltz thinks to himself, he continues to wait in the line.

Haust

"But sir, something's not right about that convoy," he replies.

As you look at it, you too feel that something is wrong.

Waltz

After about half an hour, you finally reach the front of the line. Many more adventurers have arrived, and are waiting behind you.

"Name?" one of the soldiers asks.

Finn hears a crackle of twigs (ooc: i hope that's ok, it's nothing too major ic: ). he then pulls the hood of his cloak over his head and latches on to the branch above him. Finn moved with silent acrobatics that were rarely seen from anyone other than elves. Once he was hidden enough he pulled out his bow and aimed it at the west opening of the clearing.

You sense a definite presence in the area, but you cannot see anybody at the moment.

Vaprice

Dashing, handsome, and intruiging a tall and muscular elvaan sat in the back of a bar sipping on a jug of ale. Silver dangling strips of hair befalled upon his ntense and sterling eyes as he had in his hands a letter. He took another sip of his ale and for a brief moment it sufficed him. Yet another job and another time to put his life on the line, he put the letter inside his pocket. By now it was torn, wrinkled, and wet from the pouring amounts of rain outside for the past week.

Desperately in need of money Vaprice would do anything he could find to bring home gold pieces. Chugging the last few drops left of his ale he quickly paid and left, going back to his house.

Arriving soonly after he left the bar he returned to his pathetic little house, and his disasterous life.

Vaprice

The letter's contents were simple and succinct.

"One of the human king's guardsmen has left the safety of the palace and leads an army against a dwarven ore convoy. Slay him."

I wait as the wagon train passes. We cannot attack until it reaches the epicenter. Only then, will we have it completely surrounded and at our mercy.

Vaprice

Vaprice walked over to his bed, it wasn't anything special but it was he himself made by his own hands, might not have been the most comfortable but it definetly made him happy. By his bed was a large wooden brown chest which was cracked, and squeeky. He pulled out a smooth leather black bag, a pair of boots, and a dagger sheathed in fine leather.

Vaprice sighed at the fact that he was again on another assignment so soon, but he was desperate. Vaprice changed clothes quickly, putting on his Shinobi Shozoku. Pulling back his hood, he threw a large cape around him draping him in all black. At his side hung his trusty dagger which bailed him out of a few tight positions of late. A beautiful creation it is, small, light, but strong and when it hit his opponents they would start to feel a tingling sensation, then like a fiery pit of death, that sensation would spread through their bodies like a rapid river.

He packed himself some food and was out the door. Looking around saying a last good bye to his homeland he made way for his horse and to the fields of humans. The race which defined himself, and his race a pathetic life force.

Faust shrugs, then bends down to feast on what was left of the man.

Haust

Slowly, the wagon train makes its way until it is in range. There are about one hundred dwarves, all armed to the teeth in heavy plate mail and bearing battle-axes. There are seven wagons, each groaning under the weight of what it is they carry.

Vaprice

As you approach the area you can see that the clumsy humans have set up to ambush a dwarven convoy. There are about 1,000 humans, outnumbering the dwarven guards at 10 to 1. The dwarves are well armed, much more so than the humans, but sheer numbers are definitely on the side of the dwarves.

Faust

The man screams in terror as you begin to consume his flesh, finally ceasing as his life is snuffed out by your cruel feasting.

Vaprice

Vaprice rode fast and hard to where his destination was. No longer would he be constantly delayed by horrible weather but soon he would be in the bright sterling lights of the suns. Godwyn spead through the fields like a golden arrow. His muscles stretched and strained, poudning and working overtime. Godwyn's white rapidly flowed as he spead faster and faster.

The small brigade paraded through the fields of tall grass, and swamp areas making their way to the mountains where the dwarvers lair was. He kept his distance off to the side of the taller mountains. Closer and closer they got day by day the walls formed into a canyon leading into the many entrances of mountains.

Soon it would be dark again, and cold. he could clearly be able to sneak his way through and assasinate the leader. he changed his bots and readied himself for combat...

Faust smiles, hearing the agony behind the mans voice. He closed his eyes, enjoying the still living blood. He rose from the man and continued along the path, wipeing the hot blood off on his already stained coat.

Vaprice

You pick out the general easily enough. It is a massive man with bulging muscles and a huge sword in his hands.

Faust

The land is fairly quiet. You feel invigorated.

I cast Strength of the Trees to heiten my leg & arm strength, plus natural defense.

Celadine

You feel yourself invigorated with power.

(I draw my sword for all this, also)I cast Gale, to stengthen my sword abilities.

Celadine

Wind enshrouds your blade in a vicious cyclone of magic.

I fianlly cast Downpour, to douse the workers' cutting and advance cautiosly.

Faust moves on, searching for something to kill.

Celadine

You hear cries of alarm as rain begins to drench the site.

Faust

As you crest a hill you see a rather small village.

Finn

A downpour of rain suddenly drenches the area.

I approach the clearing. I crouch in the trees about 10 meters from the opening and listen for unwanted visitors.

Faust smiles and enters the village, looking for anything interesting.

Celadine

You see two men that appear to be human rangers emerge with their bows drawn, searching for you.

Faust

As you enter, people scream and flee upon seeing you. Several farmers armed with pitchforks, hoes, spades, and other farming implements approach you warily.

I do a quick phonetic prayer and leap down upon the the first ranger and attempt to decapitate him, then turn to the second on the defense.

Faust smiles then pointed his scythe at a nearby farmer and shot an ice shard straight at his neck.

Celadine

Your blade whips the human's head off. The other quickly turns and fires an arrow at your chest, but it bounces off of your chainmail, although the force of the impact causes it to bruise. You hear two bowstrings twang.

Faust

The farmer goes down screaming, and about ten surround you, swinging their weapons wildly.

I do my best to deflect and/or doge the arrows to the best of my abilities while discerning the positions of the rangers so I might better give myself an advantage.

Faust sweeps his scythe in a circle, attacking all of the farmers.

Haust

I signal my troops at the rear of the wagon train to attack and draw out the dwarves while the rest of us remain hidden.

Finn watches through the rain as his fellow rangers get slaughtered by this damn elf. He pulled out more arrows and loads them into the bow. Then fires.

Faust

Your blade fells three in one swing, but you are stabbed several times by pitchforks. You begin bleeding profusely as more villagers descend upon you.

Haust

Cries of alarm echo through the pass as your troops ambush the dwarven rear guard. The dwarves turn and immediately move to block the attack, although some remain around the wagon to protect it. The dwarves preparedness lessens the effect of the surprise attack, but you manage to easily gain the upper hand with your superior numbers.

Celadine

Three more arrows fly at you, two missing entirelyand one lodging itself within the links of the chain, piercing your chest. It hurts, but it isn't life threatening.

Finn

You see your arrow lodge itself in the attacking elf's chest, but two other arrows bounce off, a pretty sure sign that he is armored. You can hear the rustle of leaves as the other rangers take position to attempt to slay the attacker. The downpour is making your arrows much less effective.

Faust sent out a high-pitched shreak, trying to paralize the farmers.

Faust

The farmers draw back, terror etched on their features.

Faust smiled, then went about killing the rest of the farmers.

Faust

As you cut them down, they begin to flee in terror before you.

Faust summoned one of the dead bodies and it stood up. Hwe ordered it to attack the farmers in one direction, and Faust went for the other.

Faust

Within moments, all of the villagers are either dead or have fled.

Faust slumped on the floor and bound all of his wounds. He then choped off his minions head, destroying the bond between his magic and the body. He searched all the bodies for anything of value.

Faust

The town is poor and holds little of value. You manage to glean only a few copper coins.

Haust

As I'd predicted, the dwarves are well-prepared for this attack. I signal my troops at the fore of the convoy to attack and spread thin the dwarven infantry.

"Waltz"


By the way, I don't know if my posts are too short or something but you said I can't control anything other than my person, but I don't really know what to put when I'm stuck in a queue and now I'm being asked my name, if that's okay.

reven studies his target drawing upon his increased accuracy. then fires another arrow.

As you see in Craig's last post, there are OOC tags that you can use if you so wish to. I'm only saying this since they were originally designed for RP purposes, so it might make your life easier when posting in and out of character. It's just [<i></i>ooc] and [<i></i>/ooc], of course.

I look for the closest ranger and leap towards him in hopes to throw off snipers. I confront him and while rising, I perform a diagnol slash from hip to shoulder. (Please keep in mind that it raining. Very hard. :D)

Faust tosses the coins aside, not careing much for them. He began walking away from the village, and along the path that led out.

Haust

Your soldiers smash into the dwarven frontal assault unit. Both forces working simultaneously are able to beat back the dwarves fairly easily, although you do take some casualties.

Waltz

Just respond in-character to the question and we can converse in-character.

Finn (Or Reven if you'd prefer to change your name)

Your quarry leaps out of the way of your arrow and cuts down another of your fellow rangers. By now your clothes are soaked and are increasingly difficult to move in.

Celadine

Your blade bites deeply into the Ranger, slaying him. Several arrows shoot at you, but miss because of your movements. The rain has drenched your clothing, and you are finding it increasingly difficult to move.

Faust

The path splits off into two routes, one that goes to a forest and one to a well-maintained road that appears to go to a larger city.

"The name's Waltz, ready to take on an adventure you guys give me."

Haust

I rise from my cover, allowing what remains of the dwarf force to see me as I raise my sword to signal a full-on assault. I wait for my troops to pour in from both sides on the now well-thinned convoy. I do not doubt the dwarves will fight valiantly, but I am confident of our victory.

Waltz

"All right Waltz, what abilities do you have that makes you worth our time?"

Haust

As your troops begin charging, you hear several massive explosions. Seven detonations wrack the area, slaying a few hundred of your soldiers.

Haust

Curious, I leave my troops to investigate the cause of the explosion. I avoid thought that it could be natural. Alchemy, the science responsible for gunpowder, is a human creation. I sincerely doubt either a dwarf or an elf would sully their reputation by using a human method for battle. But what reason would a human have to attack my troops? Preposterous! Yet still . . .

*Waltz brandishes a long blade of blue flame, then jumps onto the roof of a nearby building*

Waltz shouts "What do you think of that?" and jumps back down to the desk.

Waltz

The guard rolls his eyes.

"All right kid, obviously you've got some talent. What I don't need, however, is the show-off attitude. Simply telling me was more than sufficient."

"Sorry, I guess I'm just a little eager, so am I in?"

Waltz

"You fit the bill, report to the camp outside of town for more orders."

I try to retreat into a tree for protection from the flying death and hope to conceral myself as to further preotect myself and hope to either finish them off or return to my travles toward nthe High Council.

Faust looks toward the city, then begins walking down the well-worn path, walking with a steady pace, though slightly injured from the attack.

He arrived at the entrance to the city, then looked around to see if there was anything to peak his intrest.

"Okay, thanks." Waltz heads on his way, and reaches the camp.

Vaprice yet again stood within the shadows. He was ready to finish this job and go back home. He didn't like danger all that much, and a loud explosion sounded behind him as he was in line of sight of the large commander. "It's him..." He took off his boots put on his special boots on, now was the time to make a stand! he would ready himself on the edge of the moutain sides and prepare for this attempt. Waiting for the opportune moment he waited for the dwarvers and the humans slaughter each other so that he would still be fresh and run in slaying his target.

Celadine

You feel a sharp pain as an arrow pierces your calf. You hear shouts as the other rangers fan out to encircle you.

Faust

You notice that people are looking at you strangely, probably because of the fact that you're covered in blood.

Waltz

The camp is tidy and full of mercenaries going to and fro, some standing and talking and others doing a myriad of duties involved in having a campsite.

Vaprice

The fight continues ferociously, despite the casualties.

Faust enters the cite, paying no mind to the stareing commoners. He walked down th street, again looking for something that might serve him some good.

Faust

Several guardsmen watch you suspiciously.

Faust looks at the guards with a sinister smile, while the 'shell' hanging from his arm seems to do the same. He walks past the guards, searching for anything interesting.

Faust

A guardsman approaches you warily.

"Where are you from, traveler?" he asks.

Faust halts and turns a akward eye to the guard.

"That... is no concern of yours."

Faust

"I beg to differ. That's an awful lot of blood on you and your weapon, traveler. Care to explain?"

Faust turns away from the man.

"An explanation? Again, I have nothing to tell you."

ooc: i think it would be better if i change my name, yes?

ic: Reven watches the rangers circle around the elf but knows better than to under-estimate a clamm calf wound. plus, in his absence of a melee weapon he would be know use to them. instead he knocks another arow and points it strait at the enemies head, 1 move and she (ooc: i hope it's a she ic: ) dies.

Vaprice

He saw his opportunity as the commander went to check out the explosion behind him. Carefully he treaded againts the rocky mountains sides closing in on him like a hawk and his dinner. The Humans and dwarves raged on in battle, but what they were fighting over didn't matter at the time. Soon the humans would find themselves panicing and deserted as their commander fell upon the warm rocky ground.

"Good, now's the time to take this mere human down and the elvaans the superior race yet again," Vaprice kneeled down behind some larger rocks, ready to strike at any time. As anyone would know those with a larger weapon will have delay, and this, was the greatest thing he could do was to exploit these spots. Vaprice laughed at the moment silently, a sly grin appeared across his face.

Haust

I feel a vibe in the air. Something like a sputtering. I glance back at the ensuing battle. I should really be leading my men. But those explosions must have an explanation.

vaprice

Quickly Vaprice saw the commander turn around looking at his small army, slowly they depleted. Springing to action Vaprice instantly hopped up onto the larger rocks. "You commander of the Human army, your time has come to face an appoitment with death, and I wish not for you to be late!" Vaprice grinned and flipped from the rocks down to where the commander was. Withdrawing his dagger he readied his attack.

Haust

The sputtering vibrations in the air I'd felt earlier must have been some snide laughter from this overconfident Elvan buffoon. As the assassin falls toward me, I can't help but think of what was responsible for the earlier explosions.

"Insolant Humans, always trying to snoop into other races buisness..." Vaprice ran at the commander instantly swinging his dagger.

I go into deep prayer and summon the powers of my Cloak of Shielding and reach out towards - for lack of better symbolism - the "force" and let instincts guide the rest of my actions.

Haust and Vaprice

You two are doing just fine on your own, I'll jump in if I feel the need

Faust

"Then why is it that you smell so strongly of death, adventurer?" a calm and composed voice asks from behind you. "And why is it that the spirits of freshly slain peasants hover around you, crying for revenge?"

Reven and Celadine

Reven's arrow is cast aside by the powers of Celadine's cloak, but while the cloak is blocking that shot another arrow buries itself in Celadine's left thigh.

Haust

"You'd claim to be my better? You are as much at war with the dwarves as we."
Too close for any agile dodge now, the Elf is easy pray. I swing my sword with jet speed.

reven puts another arrow into his bow and aims it at an unguarded area of his enemy and fires.

"Interessant. You see the spirits... that must mean one thing."

Faust turned away from the guard and his eyes landed on the figure that was behind him.

Reven and Celadine

Faust

A man dressed in green robes stands behind you. His hair is adorned with feathers and his face is painted. He bears a staff made of gnarled wood.

"Perhaps. Unlike you, necromancer, I do not channel the restless dead, I only help them to find peace."

Waltz walks up to one of the mercenaries. "Hi, is there anything I can help with?"

Waltz

"Are you one of the new recruits? Look for Master Baldei, she wanted to test everyone who joins up. She should be in the arena just west of here."

Waltz runs off to the west and finds the arena.

Hearing a twang behind me to my right, I perform a spiral motion to break the arrow's momentum, swing it upwards, and throw it at a random ranger with immense grace. (Well, i try :D)

Vaprice

Slowly Vaprice started off, dodging and twirling showing off as always. He dodged the commanders large swing, barely sliding under. This wasn't good, not only was the comannder powerful, he also was quick on his delay when he swung his broadsword. But how? A weapon that large isn't supposed to be able to defend like the way he was. Truly this was indeed a great opponent, too bad he would have to die.

Waltz

You see a rather battle-hardened woman standing in the center of an arena. She delivers a heavy punch to a young man dressed in armor and wielding a sword and sends him flying.

"NEXT!" she yells.

Celadine and Reven

The arrow gets caught in Celadine's cloak, and is thrown harmlessly aside.

Vaprice and Haust

As you fight, the sound of cheers from the dwarves can be heard. It sounds as if one of the human lines broke.

"You *will* run out of arrows eventually, good sir Ranger! But I beg to differ why you are cutting down the tree's. I refuse it to continue. But under some circumstances, I might overlook it. Might you indulge me?"

"I'll have to deal with you later, creep." I swing my sword onto my back and hustle back to my troops. We no longer outnumber the enemy. I slam my fist into the back of a dwarf's head.

Faust laughs a high-pitched skreak.

"Yes, yes, I do see. So, you've come to... avenge these poor helpless souls?"

He smiles and drew his scythe, it gathering ice on the blade.

Celadine and Reven

Haust's attack at the dwarf's skull causes it to keel over.

"He's the commander!" a dwarf shouts in a loud voice. "Kill him!"

Several dwarves begin to converge on Haust's position, brandishing battle-axes with menace.

Faust

The man raises his hands and you can sense energy flowing through it, an energy purer than what you yourself wield.

"If it will allow these souls to pass on I shall claim vengeance upon you."

Faust, obviously weakened, glared at the man, then raised his scythe above him, then threw it to the ground, casting a wall of thick ice between the two. He then leapt up, and ran at a fast pace toward an alley not too far away.

Faust

Your arms suddenly constrict as you feel the cold grasp of spiritual hands upon you. With a snap of a finger the man melts your ice and steps forward, staff in hand and a look of utter calm upon his face.

Faust turned, struggleing to break the man's grasp. He w managed to lift an arm up to touch the man on his arm.

Faust

The man draws back and summons flames around his hand.

Faust turned to one of the guards, then shreaked a horrible yell. The guard covered his ears, and Faust took the advantage to attempt to slay him.

OOC: If he does slay him, he will go ahead and bring him back.

Faust

The guard goes down with ease as a wave of flame passes by your back, mere milimeters from searing your flesh.

Faust leaped away from the shaman, now free from his grasp, while the guard jumps upon the Shaman. Faust continued down the path with great haste.

Faust

"AFTER HIM!" someone yells in a powerful voice. You hear people organizing and beginning to pursue you.

He continued running along the path, occasionally slashing a citizen or two who gets in his way.

"you're cry's of anger mean nothing to us. We may run out of arrows but you can not keep your guard up forever either. You will fall, as will your precious tree's. You are out numbered, flee or die."

Waltz steps up to the arena "I assume you're Master Baldei?"

"Only time will tell, good sir. And if you insist, just try to take me down!" >:O

As a few dwarves swing their axes at me, I spin 'round, putting my back to them, their axes land with a clang on my sword. I leap up and over their heads, swinging my sword at them.

I heard the sounds of a fight in the forest nearby and went to investigate.

Merra, walking into a completely unknown scene, looks around and asks the person closest to her "What's going on here?"

Celadine and Reven

Five arrows rush at Celadine. Two are turned aside, one misses entirely, one strikes his chainmail, and another buries itself in his chest, going through the links and puncturing the flesh. It buries itself partially in his chest, but it is not a fatal wound, although it could cause potentially serious blood loss.

Haust

You decapitate three dwarves. You sense another coming up behind you.

Elzic

You see a lone elven battle mage fighting five human rangers. Two other rangers lie dead on the ground, but the elf has several arrows in his leg and chest.

Merra

"Some damned necromancer came through here. I guess he recently sluaghtered an entire village or something. The city guard is giving chase right now, as well as a shaman, but he's killed some of our citizens on the way out."

Faust neared the city gates, and finally at the road that leads elsewhere. He began down the road, breathing heavily and obiously forced.

Faust

You hear some faint yells.

"He went this way!"

From behind!
I whirl around.

Haust

You see several dwarves fumbling with strange, elongated tubes of metal.

Waltz steps up to the arena and creates a Long Sword of blue flame. "Yeah, that's right."

Elzic quickly armed his bow and focused his shot for a minute, then he shot straight at one of the rangers.

"Right." Merra attempts to try and catch up to the shaman, in hopes to get a clearer picture of what's happening.

Another elf! No longer am I alone in this charade.
I shout in Elven, "These blasphemers have been cutting down trees and I attempted to dissuade them, and unfortunately have been very successful.....

Waltz

The woman looks at you, a flicker of interest in her eyes.

"A Soul Sword? This should be fun."

She assumings a fighting stance, her hands upen and held nearly parallel with the ground, one at her side and one before her.

"Come!"

Elzic, Celadine and Reven

The downpour causes Elzic's arrow to go off its mark, striking one of the rangers in the shoulder. The ranger screams in pain and drops his bow.

Merra

You see the shaman has stopped in the road, and that the soldiers he was apparently with have moved ahead of him.

"Are you with the dark knight?" he asks cooly, not even turning to face you.

Waltz rushes at her, Soul Sword in hand he raises his arms for a vertical strike then splits his sword into two smaller swords right at the last minute and preforms and outwards horizontal strike.

Waltz

Before you can land a blow you feel as if your chest has just been crushed, and find yourself on the ground several feet from the woman.

"Is that the best you can do?" she asks scornfully, bringing her fist back to a ready position.

Getting back up Waltz puts his sword away, and readys his fists.

"Come on."

Waltz

Faster than the eye can follow, the woman springs forward, smashing you in the face with her fist and sending you staggering backwards.

"Too slow!" she says.

"I don't even know who he is, if that's what you're asking. And what's going on, anyways?"

Taking a risk, Khimbar rushes the ranger next ot that of the other elf in hopes of more scattered conversation. And with a dive, he aims for the heart.

In elvish tongue, Elzic called for the rest of the his squad.

Faust turned to see a croud chaseing him. He turned his head to the heavens, and shreaked out loud, stopping the followers in thrir tracks. (OOC:I infer this, post otherwise if incorrect)

He then continued down the road, slowly and more soundly.

Leon

The scream causes many of the pursuers to falter, but three manage to continue their pursuit.

Elzic, Reven and Celadine

The ranger dodges away from Elzic's attack, and another ranger blocks the arrow with his cloak. At Elzic's call, six more elves burst into the clearing, bows at the ready.

Merra

The shaman turns and looks at you, before nodding once.

"A Dark Knight came through. He slew many people and we are currently pursuing him."

Faust sighs and turns, lifting his hand to touch the nearest one on the forehead, the turns to slash at the other two.

Reven looks at the new batch of elves with frustration. simple assignment my a.... an arrow whizzes past his head and reven decides not to stick around. He rushes through the trees and is gone in a flash.

Elzic attempts to shoot one of the humans in the head with a arrow from his quiver.

Reven drops from his hiding place on to the unsuspecting elf's shoulders, pointing his loaded bow strait down the creatures head. "don't move"

OOC: btv,you said to wait for the next post so i did, this ok?

"I can see that I'm no match for you, but I'm going to give it one last try." Waltz gets up again.

What's the deal with fighting? I assume I can't say something like "Hits enemy in the face with his sword" because I can't control other people, therefore can't control whether my opponent will be hit or avoid the attack right?

Oh and, how does my Extrasensory Perception work?

ok, so your on Elzic's shoulders pointing down?
"I tried to offer you kindness, good sir Ranger, but now I see this as nigh unforgivable. I may not have asked at the opportune moment, but I did show to some degree some mercy. I feel we can now never find the reason for your cutting, unfortunately. If you would not mind telling us, The rest of us might let you live out some more of your miserable days. What say you?"

Celadine, Elzic and Reven

Elzic's arrow takes another of the humans in the forehead, slaying him instantly. Then in an instant, Reven drops onto Elzic's back, his arrow pointed at him.

Waltz

"Still standing? I like that," the woman says with a chuckle, before dashing at you. For some reason this time you can see her coming, as if you're growing accustomed to her movements.

Waltz senses her movement and dodges behind her. He creates a blunt stick of blue flame and attempts to hit the back of her head.

Waltz

Moving as a blur, she ducks under you and punches at your chest. This time, however, you seem to have a bit of time to react.

Waltz moves backwards, grabs the woman's arm then does a backwards roll while kicking his foot into the woman's stomach in an attempt to throw her over him.

Waltz

Your hands and feet encounter nothing but air as the woman flips over you and kicks you in the back, sending you flying face-forward.

"You fell for my feint and lowered your guard again. Not a good idea."

"Okay, I give. I'm obviously no match for you." Waltz gets up and brushes himself off.

Waltz

"You did manage to get fairly close to hitting me. Not a lot of people can do that," the woman says in a concilliatory tone.

"That's not good enough for me, I want to be stronger." Waltz turns around and walks away from the arena.

Waltz

"That is why you joined isn't it? To become stronger?" the woman asks softly.

I watch as the dwarves fumble with strange metal tubes. What are they planning?

Haust

You see them stuffing metal balls into the tubes and putting in some strange black powder.

Faust

The first stumbles backwards at your touch, but the others bring their swords to bear and block your attack.

Faust drew up his scythe and jumped through the air, kicking one of the two men in the face, while thrusting the blunt en of his scythe at the others head.

No! It's alchemy! I think back, remembering a class on alchemy, the science of equivalent exchange. Alchemy can create a deadly force by mixing saltpeter, sulfur, and charcoal, three elements abundant to the dwarf mines. Before this war, humans would barter goods in exchange for these elements which held little meaning to the dwarves.
I bring my sword to guard. If there's any chance I can deflect the blasts, I would gain my opportunity to finish them.

"Actually, I concidered myself to be very strong. But now I see how much I have to learn."

"Later. I'm going to try to catch up to that wanna be necro and show him a thing or two."
Merra startes running in the general direction of the spirits' wailings.

Reven looked at the troop of elves with their bows all pointed at him "you can not kill us all ranger" said the elf in his grip "maybe, but i can definately paint the grass the colour of your blood. For all of you who do not understand that i will lay it out clearly, throw down your weapons and and other inventory you have, and leave. You may try and come back with reinforcements but i will be gone. Now do as i say or this comrade of yours will be dead faster than you can say "attack".

Haust

The dwarves aim the metal tubes at you. An explosion launches three metal balls at you, two bouncing off of your blade but another striking you in the chest, causing intense pain and opening a relatively serious wound.

Faust

You knock the two aside. They move to either side, attempting to regain their balance and bring their swords to bear.

Waltz

"Your guard is too open, for one, and you aren't moving as fast as you could be," the woman says matter-of-factly.

Merra

You see a man wielding a scythe with icy shards enveloping the blade knock one soldier aside with a kick, and another aside with the haft of his scythe. Another soldier is staggering backwards, and you see many dead soldiers lying around him.

Reven, Celadine, and Elzic

Faust threw his scythe down at one of the soldiers chests before he manages to stand.

I sink to the ground; my sword remains at guard. I breathe heavily as I try to recover from the hit. My eyes start to burn as I try to stay conscious.

Faust

The soldier cries out in pain as you shear away his life.

Haust

"We almost have him lads! One more volley!"

You can see the dwarves start shoving more powder into the barrels.

I feel drowzy. Though I am hardened here in a protective stance, I cannot move. The world seems to drift away . . . slowly . . . slowly . . .

Haust

"All right lads, get ready to fire!"

"Perhaps this may be true, but fi yuo were, know that he would be happy to further a greaqter good, and you would only marl him as a martyr, and I assume that would be taking one step forward and two back, am I not correct in this assumption? For it would only deepen the rift between our races, and there is plenty of tension without your infrictions upon our dealings."

In animal tongue, Elzic shouted to the other rangers to get help.

Vaprice

"Later then indeed!" Vaprice saw two large dwarves making their way over to Haust the commander for the Humans. Quickly he launched himself up into the air, like a bird, diving straight for his prey. Like a large war hammer he took his right hand punching a dwrave in the face, then taking his dagger slicing into the dwarves gut. "I've got your back! Don't worry!" Again and again he let no enemy slip past him to the commander.

Vaprice downs the dwarves with ease, slaying all of the dwarves wielding the metal tubes.

"Thanks for the advice, I'll take it into concideration."

The world seems unusual. What is this? I wonder. Have I died? I've never sustained such an injury. I'm astounded that a shot broke through my guard. I remember that feeling just when I felt my lungs lose every last ounce of oxygen.
I look around. It's dark. I see a figure moving about swiftly. At first I think it's an attacker, but his movements are not directed at me. An ally? It's not one of my soldiers. Perhaps . . . no! I can't possibly fathom why an elf would aid me when he was earlier prepared to kill me. Perhaps I am his trophy. I laugh off the ridiculous notion. I must wake! I will finish the dwarves, save my men, and as well destroy that elf if need be. I squirm about. Eyes! Open your eyes. DO IT!!!
The darkness parts horizontally; slowly . . . slowly. I can clearly see the fighter now. Indeed it is the elf. My men are defeated. Perhaps not all dead, but they will be if I do not aid them.

Vaprice

"You call yourselves soldiers?! Ha! Pathetic, pitiful!" Vaprice manuvered around the dwarvers, cutting through the enemy dwarves like thunder. But what would happen after this, how much would he have left in him? It ddin't matter now, either do or die

Quickly he darted to one of the human soldiers swiping the attack to his neck away, attempting to dig the dagger into the dwarves gut.

A dwarf sneaks up behind me. He must have been in hiding. What kind of dwarf hides like a coward? His axe falls rapidly at my back.
In a flash, I slice the wretch in half from stem to sternum.

My senses now heightened and my reflexes enhanced, I move about the field opposite the elf, tearing down the dwarf force. But I will remain vigilant.

Waltz

"You do that."

Vaprice and Haust

One of the dwarves call out to the troops.

"Fall back lads! We'll take 'em down from afar!"

OOC: OBJECTION!!! in the 5 odd seconds that it took the link to conjure a spell, arm a bow with a 80kg man on his shoulders and a his bow on his back, Reven would have shot him. i mean, come on. i worked hard to get to that position and i'm not going to be foiled by an un-realistinc action.

Im sorry to say it, but i have to agree

I am going to agree with EE and Khimbar on that one. Elzic may attempt to do that, but he will probably be shot and killed. I do have a respawn rule, so he may be ressurected, but I suggest editting or facing the consequences.

Merra runs up to faust.
"Care to explain why you're doing this?"

"You call yourselves soldiers? Hah! Pathetic little drwaves you all are!" vaprice shredding with shear rage continued down his war path to strike down his enemies. The enemy had figured out that the elf was now on the human side of the force and started attacking him. Slash by slash Vaprice made his way through as the enemies withdrew and a loud war cry rang from his voice.

"I will." Walts walks away, when suddenly an arrow pierces his neck. The last thing he sees before he dies is the camp being raided.

"fine, go get help if you must, but i am sure 6 of you will be capable of carrying this mans dead carcase back to your filthy home. The next person that moves will have the burden of this mans death on their backs. now, disarm yourselfs and back away from the clearing slowly."

Reven turned to the group "I told you i would leave, just drop your weapons and back away from the clearing. You can then come back, collect your gear and friend here, but i will be gone."

Slash by slash Vaprice made his way through as the enemies withdrew and a loud war cry rang from his voice.
Haust

"Ugh . . . is that a victory yelp or are you just trying to annoy me?"

I walk past the elf to one of my still-conscious soldiers.

"Very Well, we will do as you ask" I rasp out an Elven command. "Now I hope you hold up your end of the bargain and depart with haste."

"leave your weapons and packs over there and back away slowly. Come back in 10 minutes your friend will be here, in one piece. I will be gone." as Reven watches the elves back away he smiles at his victory against the odds. Then he looks down at the elf who had a worried look on his face "don't worry, i'll hold up my end of the bargain." Then Reven knocked him out with one blow. He then started to rummage through the packs and weapons. Once he was done, he left.

ooc: can you tell me what weapons and items i get from the pile, thanks.

"I know this might not be the best time, but If you do kill me, ,you will be hunted be me when I return"

ooc: i didn't kill you and you're unconsious, so hush :p

Faust smiled, smelling the fresh blood. He swiftly twisted around an aimed another blow at the other soldiers neck.

All of you

Go ahead and keep playing. Oh yes, Faust, Merra attempted to speak to you, in case you didn't notice.

Faust turned after (ooc:erm, killing the man, I suppose?) and looked at the woman with an akward eye.

What business is it of yours? I might warn you… It is foolish to interrupt a death knight from his… meal.

Fausts lips curled into a smile as he finished the sentence.

"So whatever order you belong to allows canibalism? Can you not hear the cries of the tormented souls? Or do you just not care? Either way, I will not stand for it."

Faust smiled.

Tormented? I am but freeing them from lifes despair. But, If you wish...

He drew up his towering scythe and lunged at the girl.

Merra pulls out her staff, and starts to raise a zombie.

"You cannot hear their tormented cries? Their "life's dispair" is you destroying them in such a way, mutilating them!"

Faust and Merra

A zombie bursts from the ground and stands protectively at Merra's side.

Reven walked away from the forest, his pack now a little heavier. He had no map and no idea where he was going. He kept walking for a bit longer.

Faust smiles as the shell at his side glows an envelops a near body in light.

I shall end your despair.

"Despair? The only despair I feel is over these poor souls who wished not to be killed so horrendiously."

Faust smiled, yet again.

"Then let me take you from this despair."

The two soldiers he had killed rose to life and stood on either side of Faust

Haust

I turn to the elf, suspicious. "Why did you help me? Why did you suddenly decide to aid us? You were going to kill me."

He stared demandingly at the curious elf through the eery glow of his brown eyes. "Who are you?"

Vaprice

"Young commander, at first I was sent to exterminate you yes," Vaprice looked away into the distant lands. A warm breeze cooled his forehead. "I am Vaprice, and to you someone as a human in the army I am a lowlife compared to you. Nothing but an assassin, a creature of worthlessness in his life now."

"Yes I was going to kill you, and well the only thing that stopped me was, I'm tired of this life," His silver hair whipped around facing to the human commander. "Tend to your injured, get what you came for..."

"I don't buy it!" I interrupt him. "You were exhilarated at the thought of destroying me earlier. Just as you were when fighting the dwarves."

Vaprice

Vaprice smiled, a large grin appeared on his face. "Good, very good, you didn't buy it!" Vaprice then made a hysterical laugh. "Then our fight is off pause." Vaprice swinged his dagger to the side letting the blood whip away to the ground.

I swing my sword out in front and glare at Vaprice.

vaprice quickly swung to deflect the commanders sword. Slice after slice, swing after swing, the noises of their blades composed like lions. Their blades danced like a fast paced tempoed music. Finally their blades met with each other. "Do you give up?" Vaprice asked sarcasticly smiling, their blades grinding together.

I motion forward. My strength cannot be matched by a mere elf. I shove him back and raise my sword, grunting as I swing down.

"Tired are you commander? You don't have the strength to keep up with me, my speed, my raw power! You don't have what it takes to even rule a little regime..." Vaprice smiled yet again, toying with the Human. "It's time we ended this!"

Vaprice came wildly in, slashing and dashing. His feet work was unbelieveable. vaprice dodged from left to right, as he came faster and even more powerful each strike. "Your weakness is still in your defense young one!"

"Overconfident whelp!!" I shout in my booming voice. "I'll crush you as easily as I'd crush a mountain. You'll fall like a rotted tree."

"Over confident? No! I know everything about fighting, when to strike and when to defend," Vaprice swung quickly his first part of the attack. Quickly he knew when to suprise the man.

"C'mon commander, your not even worth the title of a commander!" vaprice shouted laughing yet again. Vaprice ran full ahead at the human. "Let your wrath within out... all your pain and sorrowful life!" Vaprice's eyes brightened as he neared the commanding officer.

Attack after attack the human came at him. Suddenly with a quick, stiff slash from his dagger he swiped the sword away from the commander and smiled with gloating confidence. "Over confident eh?"

The commander came running full steam ahead. "Yes, thats it let all your anger out on me! I bet you have a wife don't you? She wrote to me last week about what a wonderful time we had together!"
What was that about? You're controlling my character, assuming I'm angry, and making groundless taunts. I think you should edit that out.

"You're a squirrelly thing, aren't you?" I say as I stare in surprise at the quick little runt. He took my sword. No one's ever taken my sword. At least he can't use it. I smile at the thought. An elf brandishing the Sunderer. What a joke. He can barely hold onto it. As I thought, he is overconfident, he thinks he now has me at a disadvantage, but that will be his undoing.

Vaprice

The human didn't understand what pain awaited in his future. He wouldn't return home in his current state, he wouldn't return at all. One oppourtunity, one chance to get his strikes in. He was disarmed and this was Vaprice's favorite time of the day.

"Your through you impudent human!" Vaprice turned into a trance emotion. No longer was he playing games, it was the next round and no longer was he a clown. Quickly side to side he came kicking, punching, and attempting to strike at the human. "May the waters of the red running rivers flood your heart and soul!" Vaprice gave a victorious cry and attempted to touch the human's left arm. He would glorly at his own brilliance as dark swiling colors would enable him to take life!

I stand my ground. Whatever this whelp has in mind, I will not falter. I brace myself as is the nature of a Royal Guard.
