eestlinc 03-29-2005, 12:49 AM Forgiveness is the greatest gift that we can give. Raistlin 03-29-2005, 01:10 AM eest: exactly, so why not forgive everybody? They're not identical at all. Kishi's image wasn't even borderline even to the kind of ultra-consevative that would make a "Nazi" like me shake their head, and Peter's was a realistic-looking phallus. Additionally, there's the difference between a two-day n00b and one of the longest-serving members of EoFF staff who has probably made a more significant impact on EoFF than any other member, and I include both myself and Unne in that statement. Goddammit, Kishi's earned a reprieve, even if the issue really was "borderline" instead of well over on the OK side of the line. Peter earned precisely bugger. According to what Staff has said for the past 5 years, there is <i>not</i> a difference between a two-day n00b and a Knight - well, at least, according to what images they can post before getting banned. And there shouldn't be. And how does one "earn" a reprieve? Have I earned a reprieve? And you should realize that you're the only person who views the image as "ok' for everyone. Everyone else has stated that it's either banworthy or oonly "borderline" in the case of Kishi. eestlinc 03-29-2005, 01:17 AM I thought it was ok, but that's not my decision. I'd also be happy to forgive everyone, but that is also not my decision. RSL 03-29-2005, 01:38 AM Not true Raistlin. I didn't think the image was banworthy no matter who posted it. Del Murder 03-29-2005, 03:14 AM I'll forgive anyone...for a price. Nic 03-29-2005, 05:04 AM And you should realize that you're the only person who views the image as "ok' for everyone. Everyone else has stated that it's either banworthy or oonly "borderline" in the case of Kishi. That picture would make children cry. And not in the way that pictures of, say, Kane would. And again, what exactly was Kishi thinking when he posted it? Miriel 03-29-2005, 05:26 AM While I'm glad that the Staff decided not to ban Kishi, I gotta say, ya'll seriously need to buff up on your PR skills. It's like I'm witnessing a case study of public relations gone awry. >_> Del Murder 03-29-2005, 05:32 AM The internet can be a case study on a lot of things. Miriel 03-29-2005, 05:52 AM The internet can be a case study on a lot of things. I know, isn't it grand? If I ever get the chance, I'd do my dissertation on the Sociology of Human relations via the Internet. :) Anyway, the number one rule of Public Relations: know your audience. There's an obvious disconnect between the Staff and the rest of the forums. You guys should try and fix that. Yamaneko 03-29-2005, 06:12 AM The Internet is too broad of a study case. Limit it to particular aspects. IRC, MMORPGs, MBs, blogs, geocities personal sites created with the Yahoo! online builder, etc. Ashister 03-29-2005, 06:57 AM Everyone else has stated that it's either banworthy or oonly "borderline" in the case of Kishi. I also believe it was "okay." por·nog·ra·phy n. Sexually explicit pictures, writing, or other material whose primary purpose is to cause sexual arousal. Sexual? Yes. Sexually explicit? No. nik0tine 03-29-2005, 07:23 AM Main Entry: ex·plic·it Pronunciation: ik-'spli-s&t Function: adjective Etymology: French or Medieval Latin; French explicite, from Medieval Latin explicitus, from Latin, past participle of explicare 1 a : fully revealed or expressed without vagueness, implication, or ambiguity : leaving no question as to meaning or intent <explicit instructions> b : open in the depiction of nudity or sexuality <explicit books and films> 2 : fully developed or formulated <an explicit plan> <an explicit notion of our objective> 3 : unambiguous in expression <was very explicit on how we are to behave> 4 of a mathematical function : defined by an expression containing only independent variables - ShlupQuack 03-29-2005, 07:28 AM When Shlup says, "It doesn't matter what you think," over and over again, then yeah, I kinda get that feeling. I would like to clarify that I don't mean it doesn't matter what non-staffers think, just that it doesn't matter what you think, Raist. Ashister 03-29-2005, 08:59 AM For it to be unambiguous, the intercourse would have been shown, or her legs wide open, or something to that extent. For it to be fully revealed there would have been some nipplage, pubic hair, or the manparts (but even then, nipples and pubes are in non-pornographic nude artwork and photography. They cross the line into pornography when the aforementioned wide-open legs and visible intercourse come into the picture). All I'm saying with this is that if you want to take the Rules Lawyer Stance on this argument, the call to ban Kishi isn't any more airtight than his defense is. Citizen Bleys 03-29-2005, 09:34 AM According to what Staff has said for the past 5 years, there is <i>not</i> a difference between a two-day n00b and a Knight Who would you rather lose--Unne or Kathryn? And how does one "earn" a reprieve? Have I earned a reprieve? Former staffers, like Peter, have earned precisely bugger. We quit, that means nobody owes us anything. And you should realize that you're the only person who views the image as "ok' for everyone. Everyone else has stated that it's either banworthy or oonly "borderline" in the case of Kishi. Quite the selective hearing you've got there. | |
