Parents guide to l337 speak.ShiggtyLuffLuff 02-19-2005, 08:07 AM Parents guide (http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/children/kidtalk.mspx) Their gonna ruin all the fun for the l337 CHiLDReN!! :whimper: Necronopticous 02-19-2005, 08:18 AM (as in "ph34r my l33t skillz")So hilarious. Cz 02-19-2005, 10:31 AM It took my mother long enough to learn how to operate a calculator, there's no way she'll be able to cope with this. :D Maxico 02-19-2005, 12:44 PM The link half way through refering to "Online video game bullies or "griefers"" is also pretty funny. Known as griefers, snerts, cheese players, twinks, or just plain cyberbullies, chances are that a kid near you has been bothered by one of these ne'er-do-wells at least once while playing online multiplayer video games such as Halo 2, EverQuest, The Sims Online, SOCOM, and Star Wars Galaxies. Rye 02-19-2005, 01:12 PM This can't be serious. Do parents really think the kids are saying anything like "Hey let's have wild internet sex" or "Let's rob a bank!" in LEET behind their parent's back? xD Maxico 02-19-2005, 02:23 PM This can't be serious. Do parents really think the kids are saying anything like "Hey let's have wild internet sex" or "Let's rob a bank!" in LEET behind their parent's back? xD According to this (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6928800/), they do. Quina 02-19-2005, 05:40 PM Finally I'll be able to understand my kids. Behold the Void 02-19-2005, 05:44 PM I must say I find this rather amusing. Mindflare 02-19-2005, 05:46 PM I posted this in chat the other day. I couldn't believe it. Everyone got a real kick out of it. My favorite part: The following is a sample of key words that haven't changed fundamentally (although variations occur) since the invention of leetspeek. The first series is of particular concern, as their use could be an indicator that your teenager is involved in the theft of intellectual property, particularly licensed software. Maxico 02-19-2005, 06:11 PM Ok so I understand how "warez" and "sploitz" could be linked to "theft of intellectual property" but how is pwn? ShiggtyLuffLuff 02-19-2005, 07:25 PM What griefers do Typical griefer behavior includes: taunting others, especially beginners (also known as newbies) I got a real kick outta that line. Pwn = illegal activity? :rolleyes2 Ouch! 02-19-2005, 08:12 PM Pwn = illegal activity? :rolleyes2 It's stuff like that which make this so terribly amusing. Pure Strife 02-19-2005, 08:23 PM understanding what your teenager's online slang means and how to decipher it Those wacky teenagers. zimmunky 02-19-2005, 08:26 PM Thus, the word "ham" could be written as "|-|4/\/\." im rolling on the ground. i love parents man. lol. i wanna no the uber narc who spilled this crap 2 them. bastareds. Rye 02-19-2005, 08:26 PM Maybe they think that the kids are gonna pwn the RIAA and download illegal copyrighted music files known as mp3s! God forbid! :o Jojee 02-19-2005, 08:49 PM 101z, |-|1, \/\/4/\/n4 cy83r~? *cackles cos' parents can't read that...!* Mindflare 02-19-2005, 08:52 PM 101z, |-|1, \/\/4/\/n4 cy83r~? j0 Destai 02-19-2005, 10:34 PM  Idiots! Chimp 02-19-2005, 10:39 PM Oh no, now my leetspeak censorship skillz have been deciph0rzed. Wh4tever shall I d0? D:! Phil 02-19-2005, 10:43 PM \/\/ 007! I r 7e|-| u83r-1337-1$7!! Silmaril 02-19-2005, 10:47 PM kewl Chibi Youkai 02-19-2005, 11:01 PM This is too much. It's amazing how microsoft breaks it down. Step by step. I can't believe microsoft would actually do something so stupid like that. Not that they were particularly smart to begin with. Maxico 02-19-2005, 11:08 PM We should "pwn" their intulectual property. Although then they may decide to lable us as "snerts, cheese players, twinks, or just plain cyberbullies". Rusty 02-20-2005, 08:32 AM :D That made my day. Rainecloud 02-20-2005, 08:37 AM "rox0rs" Used in place of "rocks," typically to describe something impressive. Shouldn't that be "r0x0rs?" Matthew 02-20-2005, 08:45 AM Thanks to this, my clone organ smuggling ring has been thwarted by none other than my mother. To emphasize the absurdity, the end of that sentence rhymed a bit. Curse you, Microsoft! Let's just hope you don't teach my stepdad Spanish so he learns who the hell Juan is, and what I'm leaving 10gs in the trashcan near the abandoned Texaco on 1st for. nik0tine 02-20-2005, 08:49 AM Is nobody else offended at the fact that some parents think they have the right to read thier childrens coversations? I mean Jesus Christ... Rainecloud 02-20-2005, 08:51 AM Is nobody else offended at the fact that some parents think they have the right to read thier childrens coversations? I mean Jesus Christ... Don't forget, Microsoft believe they have the right to read everyone's conversations. After all, most of us are using their technology. lordblazer 02-20-2005, 08:51 AM This is too much. It's amazing how microsoft breaks it down. Step by step. I can't believe microsoft would actually do something so stupid like that. Not that they were particularly smart to begin with. Everyone knows Bill Gates invented the l337 speak and now he's selling us out!!! lol. Seriously I find the replies of the post more funny than the articles lmao. I R0x0rs y0 b0x0rs because I n0t teh suc or sux0ors as I used ta be. Really asain internet slang is worse than 1337 speak. They literally replace things like this for example. "Tis izh da zzz." BTW the word sniz niz and shizzle my nizzle is west coast slang. Not all black people say crap like that lol I just wanted ot address that. Matthew 02-20-2005, 09:26 AM Don't forget, Microsoft believe they have the right to read everyone's conversations. After all, most of us are using their technology. Yes, but if Bill Gates were to read what people using his technology have to say about him, he might get his feelings hurt. And the last thing we need is an unhappy lord and master. Erm, CEO guy. :greenie: Necronopticous 02-20-2005, 09:33 AM that cryptic language often spoken by cell phone text message users (r u there?)So cryptic... *ETERNAL FANTASY* 02-20-2005, 10:04 AM :D That made my day. Ditto mate :D lordblazer 02-20-2005, 11:30 AM So cryptic... Yeah I'm thinking are parents so serious about seeing and hearing perfect english to the point were when they don't see t in text they can't use there brains to actually find out what (r u there?) means? Rye 02-20-2005, 12:37 PM Is nobody else offended at the fact that some parents think they have the right to read thier childrens coversations? I mean Jesus Christ... Yeah. That's a horrible invasion of privacy. Blues Agent 02-20-2005, 01:25 PM Shouldn't that be "r0x0rs?" Replacing "o" with "0" is optional. Rainecloud 02-20-2005, 02:21 PM Replacing "o" with "0" is optional. Thanks for clearing that one up. The confusion was most distressing. eternal essence 02-20-2005, 02:36 PM OH NO! now i will never be able to r0x0rz serious b0x0rz and pwn again. damn you microsoft. Maxico 02-20-2005, 03:27 PM Thats what you get for playing cheese.... SNERT! GhandiOwnsYou 02-21-2005, 02:30 AM o|-| |\|0! /\/\y |_337|\|3$$ 3xP0$s3d! P|-|***!|\|g 8!|_|_ g473$!!! But seriously, i do get what they be talking about. Me and my friends quite often pull this crap to make plans, just because if you do it to the INCREDIBLE extreme, like the above, it scrolls off the page before they can figure it out. it's good to keep em guessing. Kinda like those people that speak Ubby Bubby style to each other because people can't decode fast enough to figure it out. (for those who don't know, it was some thing they did on Zoom, basically you just insert Ubby or Ubbidy in as random syllables in words. it's crazy sounding, and hella good for getting messages across in private. | |
