I can see the computer, but when I double click the icon, I get the option to log in as [computer name]/Guest. There is no guest account. What do I have to change to allow access to the other computer?

Yamaneko 01-15-2005, 05:10 AM Setup an identical password for both computer admins on the networked computers. crono_logical 01-15-2005, 03:31 PM Doesn't even have to be admins, just make sure both machines have the same named user accounts on them, and the passwords match for like-named accounts :p Baloki 01-15-2005, 03:32 PM If your using XP I think theres an option that allows you to be automattically authenticated by the other computer using your computers username, try looking through the network connections settings :) Peegee 01-16-2005, 08:07 AM First of all, your advice boggles my mind as I can open the shared folder of my roommate's computer (but I don't do it because there's a virus there), and he has a different password (hopefully), even if he were using the administrator account. Secondly, the problem was that I didn't turn on file sharing. Thanks though :D Baloki 01-16-2005, 12:54 PM :riiight: crono_logical 01-16-2005, 01:13 PM I can think of many possible reasons, but too lazy to post them :monster: Samuraid 01-17-2005, 04:56 AM Assuming, of course, that you and the other computer are running XP, an easy way to get sharing to work is to enable "simple file sharing" like so: Baloki 01-17-2005, 08:35 AM Secondly, the problem was that I didn't turn on file sharing. Samuraid 01-18-2005, 08:56 AM Why would any semi-advanced user want simple file sharing on, though? *guilty* :D I have it enabled on my home computer (this one) because I honestly have no need for any of the advanced permissions at the moment. :p | |
