I whispered quietly to the waves
Seeking their age old wisdom
Though they kept their simple pattern
And whispered little in return

And then, as an outcast
I sang to the stars
Hoping they’d hear my prayer
But it was not them who answered

Lost at sea
I sought only a way home
Though knew not where to look
