[P] "Twinkle"

You really shouldn't be so
scatterbrained
with the way bits and
pieces always fall to the
floor like a million tiny
glimmerings of glass shards in
the asphalt
since you never bother to pick up
after yourself anymore

And suddenly things get so
lukewarm when every
day you suffer such compulsive
massive head trauma like candy
and walk around anyway shaking
hands and smiling blankly at
the stars because they twinkle
just like the asphalt after it rains
and it makes you happy
to be alive

And you kick them all up where
they stick in the sky
as sharp nightly reminder to all the
things that handshakes and smiles
don't want to think about

So honey let's get out
and go driving at
midnight so we can look up
at the clouds and wonder carelessly
at all our shattered shards
that work so hard at clinging
in the sky every night
So we can have an evening to ourselves
and our asphalt shine
and it can be the most beautiful
failure of a pretty picture
you've ever seen

I love that! Bravo!! This poem is in a style I like to use as well, where you take two things with nothing in common and tye them together (ie "massive head trauma like candy"---best line in the poem I think;) )

Good stuff though, a definate 10/10
