Not really a story... or art... or poetry, but I believe this would be the appropriate place to put this, if not, m'bad.
I'm just lookin' out there to anyone who has any techniques that could help me overcome my terribly painful writer's block. I know what I want to write, but whenever I get to writing it, nothing is good and I end up stopping mid-paragraph. I haven't been gettin' anything done and it's really startin' to bother me. Any suggestions?

I hate writer's block, it tends to annoy greatly. There isn't really any way that I know of to cure writer's block. The only thing you can do is jot your ideas down somewhere, stop writing until it passes.
BTW, this works for me, but it might work for you too. A faster way for me to cure my writer's block is to use my inspiration another way, like drawing for a couple days, and if that's not working at all, u might have to find your own cure for it.
Good luck.
Oh, and, writer's block doesn't usually last that long, as far as I know, it doesn't help if you keep trying to write, just write an outline of your ideas down and take a nice long break until it passes.
:choc:
I've always found when I have writers block, that if I just completely ignore the piece I've been working on for a few days, I actually get more inspired. I come up with great ideas. That's what I recommend.

This is the longest writer's block draught I've ever had... it's almost been three months since I've been able to produce anything. Takin' a break from it is a good idea, and I think I'll do that, specifically because I've been keepin' an outline of ideas for the past couple weeks. Thanks for the suggestions.

Which story is this Zaph? The one you sent me with one page? or your dragon fang one? or a different one?

Dragon Fang is dead Deeds. This is Upon Damned Wings, should be the one page I sent you. I haven't got much further than that. I've been comepletely dry of inspiration to write since.

Writer's block usually only happens to me when I've been slacking with my reading. Usually when I start reading a really great book, or listen to an old (or new) song that's really beautiful, or even see an impressive movie my zeal for writing comes back. You could try that... let another artist inspire you.

I'm unlike most writers in that sense. Love writing, but find it hard to sit down with a book myself. It's almost hypocritical. I guess I'm just picky. I've finally sat down with the end of the Hitchhiker's series... I think it's about time I finish'em. I hope that helps.

I've been blocked for months now, haven't written anything significant for almost a year now. Since then I've been visiting forums like this a lot less, reading a lot less etc. I wouldn't recommend movies as inspiration as movie-novel have huge differences in the way good stories are created (just look at the changes made to LoTR for the movie. Great movies would be awful if they stuck perfectly to great books).
Not being addicted to a certain online game might help me, but if you love writing then sooner or later you'll be back to writing stuff. Hope your reading Hitchhiker's helps, you could do with a bit more humour in some of your work Zaphy :p

My works never are, or ever will be humourous. It's nice to see you back. I think finally gettin' FFXI out of my system for a while will help me too.
