i suppose it depends on the nature of the "Recognized Member" title. If it's a loosely achieved award, then i wouldn't care. But i've always been under the impression that it's given for being a concrete help to the board.

Hard to argue with it since it makes sense. Someone you know personally becomes a reliable member of the community you built, you trust them to help you out with it. It'd be kind've dumb if it wasn't true, other then the couple of Sean's high school friends who haven't been regular posters and so haven't been RMs or anything.

Plenty of people get knighthood and suchlike even if they don't deserve it. We used to give honorary knighthood to tons of people. And none of those people were Sean's wife, even.
