FF2 Question

I have the origans verion and I decided to download a rom to see what the origanal looked like but I noticed that Frion and pals don't have defaul names! Why?

they were in a manual or something methinks...course im an idiot soo

I think it was due to a translation error in the FF2j NES? And they had to shorten name, but I'm probably horribly wrong.

They DO have default names. The NES version was not designed to automatically insert them for you. You have to do it manually. You can't just hit confirm like in FF6.
