"And..."
An FF 8 Sequel

CHAPTER 1
THE DEATH OF A SORCERRESS

"And..." Ultimecia croaked as Squall’s final Lion Heart came crashing down. She had lost. The realization of it came all to fast. But time would compress!!!
Besides, that was her goal from the start. Using Dr. Odines machine she gave her powers to a sorceress of the past. Edea, that was her name. A caretaker of an orphanage. She was so frail in body, but strong in mind. Then, years later, her own orphans, turned SeeD, destroyed that host. Pity she was not able to kill Edea then. That little wretch caused enough trouble later on. Her powers were then passed to a young lady named Rinoa, where by fate, her powers were used to get the blasted SeeD to her time.
Gathering every bit of power she could muster after those devastating blows, she sent the world into chaos and confusion. TIME WILL COMPRESS!!
________________________________________ ________________________________
A blinding flash of light consumed the remaining SeeDs that survived and were not absorbed into time. Now it seemed that they, too, would join their wandering comrades.
Squall found himself in the middle of a dry, cold desert. Not even the sun was brave enough to show its face and hid behind an intimidating layer of clouds. Seeing no other sign of his friends, he started walking.
‘Rinoa,’ he thought, ‘Where are you? Where am I?’
The first time he had met the beautiful young rebel was at the SeeD graduation celebration. But then, he was to distracted to pay attention. He was looking through the skylight when he saw a shooting star streak through the sky. He looked down to the dancers when he saw her amongst them, looking in his direction, pointing to the star that just passed. She walked over to him.
“Hey, you’re the best looking guy here,” she said sweetly, “Dance with me? Let me guess…you’ll only dance with someone you like. Ok then…Look into my eyes…you’re-going-to-like-me…you’re-going-to-like-me… Did it work?”
“I can’t dance,” was all he could reply. Sure, she was pretty, but he was too busy to dance. And besides, like he said, he couldn’t
“You’ll be fine. Come on, I’m looking for someone, I can’t be on the dance floor alone!” She told him as she pulled him through the whirling dancers to the center.
They had their problems at first, but once they got into the rhythm of things, Squall actually found that he was enjoying himself. Then in an instant he was yanked back to earth when Rinoa walked past him and left him confused.
________________________________________ ________________________________
Squall noticed that he had reached a cliff of some sort. He felt like he had been walking for hours. He turned around to see that there was another cliff to nothingness only a few meters behind him. Exhausted, he plopped down on the ground.
He thought back to when he was properly introduced to Rinoa. He and the rest of the SeeDs in his team were ordered to help the resistance group, the Timber Owls, to liberate Timber from the Galbadian army. Everything that had happened in the last few weeks flashed before his eyes all at once. He longed to get out of this Time compressed world. He yearned to hear Rinoa’s voice. Even one of Selphie’s killer hugs would be welcomed right now.
He didn’t know how long he had been sitting there when he caught a glimpse of white above him. A feather floated back and forth, down towards him. It drifted slowly into his hand and he grasped it.
When he did, he was pulled into another place. He stood in the middle of a field of flowers. It looked as if the sun was just waking, or deciding to call it a night. Squall could not quite tell. That was when he noticed a blue-cloaked figure standing with her back facing towards him. She was only a few feet away.
“Rinoa!” Squall gasped, relief flooding over him. He reached out for her, tried to get closer to her, but his legs were like lead.
Then she turned. As if in a dream, her features were distorted. Again and again she turned, Squall desperately trying to piece together the memory that just before, had come so clear. What was this place?! He recognized his surroundings. He was in the main hall at Balamb Garden. There was Rinoa again, walking toward him like he remembered, but she seemed to never make it to him. Ohhh…his head started to pound. Visions of his past missions flashed through his mind. Memories of the others he had commanded throughout this mission, friends he could only lose through death, Zell, Quistis, Selphie, Irvine, and Edea. He even thought he caught a glimpse of Ultimecia.
He saw Rinoa floating through space. Oh! Why this! His most painful memory. The time he thought he had lost Rinoa. He had never been so scared in his life. Then it happened, the one thing he dreaded at that time, the only thing that drove him other than his love for Rinoa. The suit Rinoa was in depressurized, shattering the visor and killing her.
“NOOO!!” Squall whimpered. A single tear fell.
________________________________________ _______________________________
Rinoa walked through the seemingly endless fog. They had defeated Ultimecia, right? How was that witch still able to compress time? Now Rinoa and the others were but wandering souls, trying to cling onto their memories, trying to find their way home.
As she walked along, she saw a limp body lying on the ground ahead of her. Squall!! Rinoa broke into a sprint and kneeled beside him. She propped his head up in her arms and saw that his eyes were closed. He looked dead!
“You promised.” Rinoa whispered as she threw herself on Squall’s chest.
A single beam of light centered on the two lying there and broke through the cement like clouds. Surprised, Rinoa looked up from Squall to see that the beam was spreading outward, revealing a vast, beautiful field of pink flowers. The light was accompanied by a strong current of wind that, besides tearing petals of some of the flowers and dragging them along, seemed to cleanse the darkness that hang almost tangibly heavy a moment before. The air no longer smelled stagnant and rotten, but had the fresh, revitalizing smell of fresh picked roses.
Rinoa looked down as she heard the unmistakable sound of breathing. Squall was still alive!
“What is going on?” Squall asked. “Rinoa! Where were you?” The emotion in his voice was new to Rinoa, but she welcomed it. She now knew how much she was cared for.
“There you guys are.” Squall and Rinoa heard a familiar voice. It was Zell. They looked in the direction of his voice.
Zell, along with Quistis, Irvine, and Selphie were walking from the Edea’s orphanage. That was when they realized that they were in the field where Squall and Rinoa made their promise. And they had kept it.

CHAPTER 2
THE EXAM

3 Years Later

“This is it SeeD,” Xu addressed a group of SeeD, including Squall, Zell, Selphie, Irvine, and a few others. “This is your final test before becoming part of the Elite group of SeeD officials.”
All of these people had already become SeeD, about 3 or 4 years back. After they completed their required work to be part of SeeD, these few chose to continue their training to become SeeD officers and commanders. Although Squall had already been promoted to commander 3 years ago, in the incident with Galbadia Garden, he had thought it necessary to continue his training and be fully qualified. His earlier promotion was a hasty one, and he was reluctant to accept. This year, they were the candidates. They were standing near the Garden directory, listening to Xu give them their briefing.
There was an air of anticipation in the halls of the Garden. The early year students were looking down at the SeeD with dreamy eyes, wanting to be part of their mission, but knowing they still had to attend classes. The SeeD themselves were nervous, knowing that Headmaster Cid made sure that the Elite Exams were particularly challenging.
All of the SeeD that had defeated the Sorceress Ultimecia were present. Quistis however was not taking part in the mission, as she, being older than the rest, had completed her training with flying colors and was still serving as a teacher at the Garden. She was, though, there to see her friends off. In the last few years, their friendships had grown. Rinoa seemed to be thawing Squall, as he was becoming more and more social. He even smiled once in a while. The thing that got to Quistis, though, was that Squall and Rinoa never went any further than dating. Now nearing the age of 21, Quistis was sure that Squall would pop the question soon.
“Now, a few of you already know, the Deep Sea Research center has re-opened and is now active. What you do not know is that they are researching time travel. Balamb Garden has helped, along with Trabia Garden, with the supervision of their research. We have been receiving updates daily on their work, and making sure that there are no accidents. We had posted a few SeeD to keep track of things there, but we have not received an update for nearly a week now. We need you to investigate. Esthar has been willing to lend us the Ragnarock for this mission and it is set to arrive here on autopilot at 16:00 hours. So please be ready at the Front Gate at that time. You have an hour. Your teams will be as follows. Squall, you command Team A, consisting of yourself, Selphie, and Irvine. Zell, you have control of Team B, consisting of yourself, Lars, and Tina. Any questions?”
“Umm…” Selphie started, “you said the Ragnarock was coming on autopilot right?”
“Yes…” Xu replied
“Well, as you know, I flew the ship quite a bit a few years back, and…umm…there’s no autopilot setting for the Research Center…and…”
“One of you will have to pilot the ship to the Research center. That is for your group to decide.” Xu said.
Selphie gave all the others her best puppy-face routine.
“Sure, yeah, whatever…” They all murmured, knowing that they wouldn’t enjoy piloting as much as Selphie would. Might as well give her a thrill.
“WOO HOO!!” Selphie exclaimed, jumping into the air.
“Ok, Good luck.” Xu said. She saluted the SeeD and they saluted back. ‘Be Careful’ she thought as she turned to head for the elevator, ‘Don’t forget what evil lurked there before.’
________________________________________ _____________________________
Irvine figured he had some time to kill in the training center. He wanted to be prepared for whatever they found there. He flinched thinking of their last visit.
He was walking through the training center when he saw something move in the trees ahead of him. He crept closer and noticed it was Rinoa.
“Whatcha doing Rinoa?” He said. He had made her jump.
“Ahh! Irvine, it’s just you.” She said
“What do you mean ‘just me’? What are you doing back here. It’s pretty dangerous. T-Rexaurs are pretty tough. We don’t want you ripped to shreds, do we?”
“Irvine, I’m a sorceress, the LAST thing I have to worry about are a few T-Rexaurs. I could turn you into a T-Rexaur if I wanted to.” She said, glaring at him teasingly.
“Whoo, there, calm down. I was only teasing. But really, what are you doing out here?”
“Thinking.”
“What about?”
“None of your business.”
“So you won’t tell me?” He asked with a pout.
“I was just wondering…. Never mind.” She got up and started to leave and Irvine grabbed her arm.
“Is something bothering you? You can tell me. Your secret is safe with me.” Irvine said sincerely.
“It’s just…” Rinoa started reluctantly.
“What?”
“What is wrong with Squall?? I thought he would ask me to marry him when we got back to the garden after we defeated Ultimecia. It’s been 3 years now!” She exclaimed.
“Well, I suppose he is just waiting. I’m sure he will ask soon enough. He’s just so busy finishing up his training. We all are.”
“That is just it! When will he ever be idle long enough to even think of marriage? He is SeeD; he will always be on the move.”
“He knows you will go every where with him. I am almost sure that isn’t what is holding him back. Just wait until we get back from this mission and see what happens.”
“You won’t tell him about this will you?” Rinoa asked
“Like I said, your secret is safe with me. Just give it time, kay?” Irvine replied
________________________________________ ________________________________
By the time everyone was at the front gate, the Ragnarock had landed. There they stood, all in SeeD uniform, ready for the mission ahead. Rinoa had come to see them off. She was worried about Squall and the others. Last time they had gone to the Research Center, she shivered at the thought.
Cid walked up to them all. The SeeD saluted and Cid returned it.
“Your mission objectives are as follows,” He said, “You must Rendezvous at the research center with our four SeeD operatives placed there. If they are injured, bring them back to the Ragnarock immediately. If they are dead, make sure you retrieve the bodies. If they are alive, have them help you with the remaining objectives. You must eliminate all threat, if any. You will not be observed in this mission directly, so we need you to retrieve the security camera tapes from the monitoring room. Maybe those tapes will also explain what happened at the there. Good luck, and take care of yourselves.” He returned the SeeDs salutes as he left them.

Later, on the Bridge.
“Hey, Sefie, what’s our ETA?” Irvine asked.
“Uhh, about an hour and a half.” She replied.
Squall was sitting in the copilots seat, thinking of their last visit to the Deep-Sea Research Center. They had accidentally stumbled upon it when they were flying around aimlessly.
Inside, they had found the place swarming with monsters. There was a strange blue-pulsating pillar in the middle of the room. They had had a tough time trying to get to the pillar. When they had examined it, they heard a booming voice.
“So, you wish to challenge me?” The voice asked. It got louder whenever the pillar shone it’s brightest.
“It is not our will to fight,” Squall replied.
“Begging for mercy?” the voice asked with an evil snicker.
“Never!” Squall said quickly, defending his pride.
“Damned imbeciles, why do you wish to fight!?” The voice had lost it’s humor and now sounded big and intimidating.
“None of your business” Squall said.
They were suddenly sucked into the pillar. Or maybe the pillar grew to swallow them. It didn’t matter. All that mattered was the monstrous blue dragon hovering in front of them. His huge leathery, wings almost blowing Squall and the others away.
“I am…Bahamut. I lend my powers to those whom I deem worthy.” The voice from the pillar no came from the Dragon. Bahamut was supposedly only a legend. Now Squall had the chance to defeat him and gain his powers as a GF.
But Bahamut would not let the party of SeeDs defeat him to easily. Bahamut’s Flare attack nearly wiped out the whole crew. Zell quickly cast Triple on Selphie, while Selphie prepared to cast Curaga on the team. But none of these even got out before squall was already hauling out on Bahamut with a super strong Renzukeken.
“You are powerful,” Bahamut said, exhausted from the battle. “I grant you my powers. Call on me when you are in need of my assistance.”
As they got into the ship to leave, Squall heard a rumbling, then an explosion come from the Research Center.
“What was that? Selphie, put us back down!” He said.
They went back into the Pillar room to discover that the Pillar was not there anymore. It had collapsed and created a hole in the ground. Squall walked up to investigate and saw a ladder. He and the rest of the team climbed down many floors past many monsters. They had seemed to be much tougher down here.
On the bottom floor, there was a lever. Zell hastily went up to pull it before Squall had a chance to stop him. From above, they heard machinery switching on.
“Zell, what did you do?” Quistis asked.
“What? There was a lever here. We had to see what it would do.” He said innocently.
“Hey, look at those stones! They are lighting up!” Selphie said as she looked up at an odd arrangement of stones on a ledge above them. Just as she said, they had begun to glow an eerie bluish color.
“Ultima stones! Wow, look at them all!” Irvine said.
“Watch out!!” Rinoa exclaimed as she pointed to something rising out of the small pond inside the cave.
It was the biggest monster any of them had ever seen. It carried a massive sword almost as wide as Squall, and twice his height. The monster stood on four legs, but it also had two hands to wield the sword. It looked like a Centaur on steroids, besides the two faces. The monsters bottom half had what looked like a face, but squall couldn’t tell.
This battle was even tenser than the battle with Bahamut earlier. Squall summoned him a few times and it helped tremendously. Selphie made sure to cast Aura on the group and they made short work of the monster.
After the battle, Zell said, “I don’t believe it. We killed Ultima Weapon!”
“Why do you call him that?” Quistis asked.
“Well, that is what the magazine called him. I suppose it has to do with these Ultima stones he lives around. Let’s get as many of these as possible,” Zell said.
When they left that place, Squall was sure he would have no reason to return. Until now.
Squall was brought pack to the present when he heard Selphie making an announcement over the intercom.
“We’re there. Everyone meet in the docking bay.” She said.

Once they had all met in the docking bay, they proceeded into the Research center.
As they approached the Pillar room, they saw in an instant that things would not be good.
“I have a bad feeling about this.” Zell said.
“That is so cliché, Zell,” Selphie said.
“What? It feels creepy in here. Hear that noise?”
There was a low rumbling and moaning coming from the Pillar pit in the middle of the room.
They proceeded down the pit and to the research lab floor. In the middle of the lab, they saw 3 bodies. All wearing what was almost unrecognizable SeeD uniform.
“Eww…I am NOT carrying those back to the ship!” Selphie said in disgust.
“Orders are orders, Selphie,” Irvine said.
“I’m with Irvine, Selphie. We do have to bring them back. But I also don’t want to be the one transporting them.” Quistis remarked.
“We will pick them up when we are on our way back.” Squall sighed, “Now, let’s go find the other one.”
“The other what?” Lars inquired.
“Cid said there were four operatives here. We have to find the other one.” Squall said.
The team walked up to the door and opened it. It lead to a cavern with a ceiling that seemed higher than the sky itself. Massive stalactites were cluttering the cavern’s floor. But that wasn’t the only thing. The room was full of monsters. From Geezards to Marlboro, they were all there.
“Wow, I haven’t seen anything like this since the Lunar Cry!” Zell exclaimed.
“Well, they look a lot tougher than those monsters. We need to find a way around. Everyone look for another entrance or something.” Squall commanded.
As Squall looked down on the horde of monsters, he couldn’t help remembering the time that he was in the Lunar Base, looking for someone to heal Rinoa. She had started acted strangely and escaped into space. She was under the control of Ultimecia at that time, and Squall had never before then been so scared. She was part of the reason there was a Lunar Cry. But that was over. She had been forgiven He was pulled back to reality when he heard Zell.
“How’s this Squall?” He said. He was standing by a closet that he had moved to reveal a passageway.
“Good job, Zell.” Squall said. And they started down the dark, musty passage.
Thankfully, the passage only lead in one direction. Down. They walked in what felt like a circle around the cavern full of monsters.
“Hey, there’s light ahead!” Selphie called to the others.
Sure enough, they continued downward a little ways and found themselves in the security room. There sitting on a chair was the fourth SeeD operative. The moment he saw the others, he started babbling.
“Oh..Who are you…STOP!!! DON’T COME ANY CLOSER. AHHHH!!!!!”
Squall and his group had not moved anywhere. This SeeD was obviously very disturbed.
“What happened here?” Squall attempted to ask, but was cut off by the man’s screaming.
“SHE’S BACK!! AAAHHHHHHH!!” He screamed over and over.
“Who?”
“SHE’S BACK!!” Was all they could get out of him.
“Selphie, get the tapes and let’s get out of here.” Squall said, “Maybe we can find out what happened on those tapes. Zell, help me with him. The rest of you go back and get the bodies of the others. Meet back at the Ragnarock ASAP.”

When they returned to the Garden, they got the only survivor to Doctor Kadowaki.
“What happened here?” She asked.
“We don’t know. He wouldn’t quit screaming, ‘She’s back!!’. I think he may have a problem.” Squall explained.
“I’ll see what I can do.” She said.
Over the intercom, Cid called the members of the Exam to his office.
“Well, I have good news and bad news,” Cid said as they all were coming in, “good news is that you all passed. Welcome to the Elite.” He said with a forced smile.
“Bad news is, we studied the tapes and found something of the utmost concern, and very, very disturbing. Ultimecia is back.”

CHAPTER 3
VISIONS

“Wait, back up a second!” Zell exclaimed. “We destroyed that witch along with her ‘pet’, Griever! Tell ‘em Squall. You were the one who finished her off!”
“He’s right, Headmaster Cid. There was no way she could have,” Squall started, but was interrupted by Cid.
“We have proof if you want to see it. I didn’t want to believe it at first either, but she may not have survived. We need you guys to see this.”
Cid started up one of the tapes on a monitor. It was showing an upper view of the room that was full of monsters when the SeeD were there. Now, there was complex machinery scattered about the room. All of the machinery was linked to a platform in the middle of the room. The platform was suspended about a foot in the air, and there was a ramp leading up to it. There were generator like things situated in around the platform. From each, there were blue stripes leading to the center of the platform. In the background, voices were heard.
“Power stabilizer check. Running smoothly. Begin Generator checks.”
“Rift generators 1, 2, 3, and 4, stabilized and check.”
“Transport generators, check.”
“Okay, send in the Bot”
The Bot, before now, had blended in with the other wires and chunks of metal that had suddenly came to life. The Bot wheeled up to the platform. It was most likely used as a recording device, and a test dummy to test the safety of Time Travel.
“Activate the Rift generators on my mark. 4…3…2…1…Mark!”
“Rift generator 1 check”
“2, check”
“3, check”
“4, check”
“Activate the platform shield”
A bluish green shield went up around the platform. The machinery placed at the four corners of the platform began to emit a red beams that followed the stripes on the platform into the center of the platform. The beams connected at the center, right in front of the Bot and created what looked like a rip in the air.
“Activate the transport generators.”
“4…3…2…1…Check.” In a blinding white light, the robot disappeared into the rift.

“At this point, we examined other tapes, and found one that looked like a recording from someplace else. It must have been the Bot’s recording. Look at this.”
Cid switched to another tape and Squall and the others gasped in surprise. They were looking at the place where they fought Ultimecia. From above.
Squall had just finished his fatal blows to the Sorceress, and she looked up. She managed to compress time before being sucked into the rift that the Bot had come. In a blinding white light. Just like the one when the robot left. Perhaps Ultimecia had only feigned death? But she had made that last desperate attempt at time compression, and had achieved it, shoddy job or not. But now she was free in their present world.
Cid switched back to the previous view of the platform room. The light had disappeared and there stood Ultimecia. She looked more like the first time that Squall and the others had fought her.
“NOOOO!!” She cried, obviously realizing her failure. With that final cry, she fell. Then something happened that only Squall expected. From Ultimecia, there came streams of purple light. They went through one of the walls to an unknown location.
“That,” Cid said, “is what we need you to explain. What just happened there?”
Squall was the only one to speak up. “Umm, Sir, I have seen that happen once before. When time compressed, I was brought to the time when the sorceress Ultimecia gave her powers to your wife. It was not unlike what we just saw here.”
“That is what we expected. In a way, I am glad that the monsters that began pouring out of the portal after her slaughtered everyone in that base. The monsters destroyed the machinery and started a rampage through the base. Strangely, when everyone was dead, they all returned to the room. Probably wanting to be sent back to their time.” Cid said.
“Sir,” Irvine started, “there was one survivor. He’s one of the SeeD operatives. I’m afraid he has gone…kind of crazy.”
“Well, at least it was a guy. They can’t be sorceress, of course. I guess I shouldn’t worry too much, but, still, be on the lookout. Dismissed. Oh, and again, Congratulations.”

Squall and the other new Elite met at the directory with Quistis. They had just told her about the situation.
“You know that I would probably be celebrating my victory with a few hot dogs if it weren’t for that witch being on the loose.” Zell complained, “I mean, I don’t want to be caught with my mouth full!”
“That wouldn’t be too hard, Zell,” Irvine teased.
“Seriously, you guys. This serious,” Quistis said, attempting to bring the two jokers back to earth, “We need to find out what happened. We need to find out who received those powers.”
“There was only one survivor, and I think HE is insane.” Squall put an emphasis on the HE. “I’ve never heard of a guy sorceress.”
“Yes…but…” Quistis said thoughtfully, but was cut off by Selphie coming up with Rinoa.
“Hey, guys! I told Rinoa about our current problem, and she has something to tell us.” Selphie said, looking glummer than her usual energetic self.
“I have been having dreams lately. Mainly in the last week. I didn’t think much of them until now. In my dreams, I am wandering, lost in Ultimecia’s castle. Every memory is so crisp, so…Real, like it just happened yesterday. I am running around looking for you, Squall, but I can never seem to find you. I can hear Ultimecia laughing in the distance and it sends chills down my spine. Then, I get to the throne room where we defeated her, and you are all there, dead. Ultimecia is sitting on her throne, laughing. She doesn’t look like she did then, but I can tell it is her by her voice. She is beckoning me to come to her, but I try to resist. Then I usually bolt awake, sweaty and crying.” Rinoa said on the brink of tears. “I am so worried in my dreams that I will never see you all again, and then I wake up and tell myself it was just a nightmare, but I am not so sure anymore. I’m so scared.”
Squall walked up to Rinoa and embraced her comfortingly. “Don’t worry, Rinoa. I will never leave you, don’t be scared.” He said.
“Squall,” Quistis said, “I am going to Esthar to discuss a few things with Dr. Odine. I was wondering if you and Rinoa would come with me.”
“Rinoa?” Squall asked.
“Sure, when do we go?” Rinoa said.
“Right now. We need to catch the Ragnarock before it leaves on autopilot. Let’s go.” Quistis replied. “Selphie, give this note to Cid. See you all later.”

Selphie went up the elevator into Headmaster Cid’s office.
“Yes, Selphie?” He inquired. Selphie saluted and handed the note to Cid.
“Instructor Trepe told me to give this to you, Sir.” She said.
Cid took the note and looked it over briefly. “I see,” he said. “Selphie, I need you to find a few SeeD to guard the infirmary. Hurry up!”
“Yes, Sir!” She replied and left swiftly. I wonder what that was all about? She thought.

The Ragnarock was just lifting off as Quistis, Squall, and Rinoa got on. They went to the conference room to wait.
“Quistis?” Squall asked.
“Yes, Squall?”
“What are you so worried about? I mean, what is the hurry?” He asked.
“It confuses me how one person could have survived the slaughter at the Base. I was wondering what the restrictions were to a sorceress’ powers were. I know that the survivor was a guy, but what if he could have still been possessed by Ultimecia’s power?” She said.
“I see,” Squall said. What would happen if the SeeD was possessed?! He thought. “The Garden is in trouble!”
“Don’t worry, the note I gave to Selphie for Cid told him to set security around the Infirmary.”
“You should know that a few SeeD would hardly be able to stand against her power!” Rinoa said.
“I know,” Quistis said. Squall had never seen Quistis this nervous before. She was usually fairly calm and faced problems with a cool head.
Their discussion was interrupted by the beeping, indicating that they were arriving at Esthar airstation. They left for the docking bay, and rushed to Dr. Odine’s lab. They had to hurry. The fate of the Garden may have been in their hands.

Meanwhile, in the infirmary back at the Garden, Dr. Kadowaki was desperately trying to calm her patient. He had obviously lost his mind, probably from fear. I would probably be the same way as you if I had gone through what you have, She thought.
When she got him to calm down for a while, she went to cross reference some test results she had taken. She heard the patient stand up from his curled position on the infirmary bed. She went to see what was going on, and sure enough, he was just standing there looking at the wall to the right of the bed. The Doctor noticed his eyes were glazed over. She had not noticed this when she was treating him. He had kept his eyes squeezed tight the whole time.
“Uhh…Sir, please lie back down. You need to rest.” The Doctor said. The patient slowly, eerily turned his head toward Dr. Kadowaki. His eyes were not glazed; they were just white balls sitting in his sockets. The pupils had disappeared.
“Oh my…” She gasped. He stared at her, or at least looked in her direction, for a full twenty seconds before he lifted his hand at her and cast a powerful Aero spell at her. She was blasted back into the wall, and her world went black.
The SeeD guarding the infirmary bolted through the door when they heard all the commotion. They barely had time to draw their swords and guns before they were reduced to smoldering piles of ashes by an ultra potent Firaga spell.
The SeeD patient walked casually past the piles of ashes and out of the Garden. He walked and walked until the Garden faded into the distance. He was headed toward Balamb.

Squall, Quistis, and Rinoa got to Dr. Odine’s lab to find that it was crawling with Esthar soldiers. Several guards guarded the entrance. Quistis went up to one of them.
“What happened here?” She inquired.
“There has been an accident. Dr. Odine and several of his assistants have been killed as a result. I am sorry, but you will have to leave.” The guard replied.
“What kind of accident?” Quistis asked.
“We are not yet sure. Please leave or I will have to place you all under arrest.” The guard was now growing irritable.
“Ok, ok. Let’s go you guys.” Quistis said in disappointment.
“Oh well, I never liked that man anyway. He was so hard to understand.” Squall said when they were out of earshot of the guards. Quistis glared at him.
“His death was not and accident. Can’t you see?! He was the foremost expert on sorceress! He was assassinated, or attacked, or something!” Quistis was on the edge now.
“Sorry, I was only joking.” Squall said.
“That is an improvement.” Rinoa teased. Squall smiled at her. Quistis remained uptight.
“Who else could tell us about sorceress powers?” She wondered aloud.
“How about a ex-Sorceress?” Rinoa asked. “Edea could help. I’m a sorceress, but I am not as experienced as Edea was. Maybe she could help.”
“Good idea. But first, we need permission to use the Ragnarock to get out of here.” Quistis said. She started to calm down now. “We need permission from President Laguna for that.”
“Okay, let’s go.” Squall said.

Back at the Garden, everyone was in an uproar after hearing about the infirmary breakout. Dr. Kadowaki and the two SeeD security guards were killed. There were a few students who claimed to get a glimpse at his pure white eyes, but did not pay it much heed. He was walking through the Garden as if nothing had happened, as if he hadn’t just killed.
Cid had called for Irvine, Zell, and Selphie. They went up to his office and found him sitting at his desk, head in his hands. His hair was disheveled, as if he had been trying to pull it out.
“Sir, please don’t take this so hard,” Selphie said, attempting to comfort the headmaster.
“Thanks, Selphie, but it is hard. We have, in the course of the last two days, lost; our doctor, who was much loved around here; and as far as we know, at least five trusted SeeD members, perhaps six!” He said in exasperation.
“I’m sorry, sir.” She replied hastily, as she hung her head.
“Oh, I do appreciate your support, and I need you all to help with something.” Cid said apologetically.
“Yes, Sir?” They asked.
“We’ve just received a distress signal from Balamb. We need you three to check things out. I fear that is where the sorcerer went when he escaped.”
“Excuse me sir, Sorcerer?” Irvine asked.
“Yes, Irvine. He has received the sorceress’ powers, thus he is a sorcerer. Quistis had a hunch that would happen, and she is the one that suggested security on the infirmary. Now I find that it has proved futile. The passing of a sorceress power to a male has only been theorized. But now we have living proof. He is just as powerful and dangerous as the Sorceress Ultimecia, so please, take care of yourselves.”
“Yes, Sir!” They replied in unison. They saluted as they left.
As soon as they got out of the elevator, Zell was rushing out the front gate. “Wait up, Zell!” Irvine cried after him.
They ran the whole way to Balamb, attempting to keep up with Zell. He increased his speed when he saw the smoke rising from the direction of the town. Zell stopped right in front of the gates of the town. He just stood there, fists clenched, surveying the wreckage of what used to be his town.
“Oh, Zell.” Selphie said as she reached to touch his shoulder. He pulled away and turned his head the other direction.
“We were to late…”He said, “They are probably all dead.”
“Do you want to check?” Irvine asked. Selphie gave him a look of concern.
“Yeah, we have our orders.” Zell said bitterly and ran off.

Welll, sorry, but i don't think i will be able to post again for about a month. i am moving, and i am not sure when we will get internet connection. i may write part of the next chapter on wednesday, but we will see. i have kinda been sick and haven't even worked on it for a while. i read Kettches "The Sorcerress Legacy" and he used the same kind of ending that i wanted, so that set me back a little. Don't worry, though. Next time i post, i will have a LOT to post.

Ok, finally. this is the first part of chapter 4, and i still have more work to do on the rest. some continuity issues, ya know. it should be done in about a week.

Chapter 4
Tension

Squall Quistis and Rinoa found the Presidential Palace in chaos. Palace guards and Esthar soldiers ran to and fro. Squall stopped one of the panicking guards.
“What is going on here?” Squall asked.
“President Laguna has been kidnapped.” The guard replied.
“Wha…how?” Quistis stared in disbelief. Squall just stood there and clenched his teeth. His hands curled into fists.
“Come on guys, this cannot be happening, I want to get to the bottom of this right now!” Quistis exclaimed through clenched teeth as she started toward the entrance to the palace. Squall glanced at Rinoa and then grabbed Quistis by the arm.
“Quistis, please calm down…” He attempted and was cut off by Quistis sudden reaction.
“Calm down?! Dr. Odine has been murdered, and now, your father has been kidnapped! As far as we know, he may be dead, too.” Quistis snapped. Squall backed away and hung his head. Ever since he had found that Laguna was his father, for some reason, he never really wanted to believe it. But hearing the possibility that his only living direct relative may be dead made him panic.
“Oh, Squall. I’m sorry, I didn’t mean…” Quistis started to say, but was cut off by Squall.
“Rinoa, can you and Quistis let me take care of this. Wait for me at the air base.” He said, never leaving his gaze at the ground.
“Squall…” Rinoa said in concern. Squall turned and looked up at Rinoa.
“Please, Rinoa.” He said, looking into her eyes. Those beautiful, caring blue eyes.
“Okay, Squall. Be careful.” She said.
Squall felt a hand on his shoulder. “I’m sorry, Squall.” Quistis said. He turned his head and looked at Quistis as she continued to walk by him to Rinoa. He watched them turn the corner and then he turned around toward the Palace.
Sis, I hope you’re here. He thought as he started to walk inside.

Meanwhile, back at the Garden, Selphie was trying to get Zelll out of his self-made prison. When she and Irvine had returned to the Garden, Zell had already locked himself up in his room.
“Zell, come on. You have to come out sometime.” Selphie said. Silence from the other side was her only answer. “Zell, Please…” Selphie said helplessly, “We feel the same way about this as you do, but you aren’t going to find that sorcerer from in there.” Still silence echoed beyond Zell’s prison door. Selphie turned to see Irvine leaning against the wall down the hall.
“Any luck?” He asked. Selphie only shook her head sadly.
“Why can’t Ultimecia just leave us alone?” Selphie started to sob, “Why can’t things just go back to how they were?” She threw herself onto Irvine and started to cry. Irvine held her there and the just stood, knowing the pain each of them felt, and knowing that nothing could go back to normal.

When Cid heard the report form Irvine and Selphie, he had told them to keep it hush-hush from the rest of the Garden. He would find a way to break the news. He was crushed. Most of his students were from that town, and he had many friends there. He finally decided to call a meeting in the Main Hall.

I'm soooo glad people are enjoying this. i personally think the whole thing is getting kind of dark. the next part is especially sad. i am working on it now. i must be depressed or something, cause i can't think of a way to improve the mood. What do you readers think, should i lighten it up, or leave it gothic like it is. I do know that i need to work on Quistis, cause she isn't supposed to be like that. i am thinking i will work it into the plot somehow. Thanks for reading.

Ok, this is really getting interesting to write. I AM new at writing and this is SERIOUSLY my first Fan Fic. actually, it is the first story that i have written out of school. lol But it is getting easier. Hope you Enjoy this installment. Please tell me what you think

Selphie and Irvine were still standing in the hall when Cid Made the Announcement over the PA.
“This is Headmaster Cid. Will everyone please meet at the main gate. Repeat, everyone meet at the main gate.” His voice was heavy and depressed.
“Sounds like Cid is going to break the news to everyone. That’s got to be hard on him. Should we go?” Irvine asked the still sobbing Selphie in his arms. It hurt him so much to see his bubbly happy sweetheart like this. It didn’t happen often.
“I don’t know,” Selphie said looking up to Irvine’s face, “I would really rather get some rest before we go out looking for Ultimecia. I think I will just go to my room.”
“I’m gonna wait to see if Zell comes out. Get some rest, ok? See you later.” Irvine said as Selphie let go of him and turned for her room.

Squall walked down the transparent hallway to the President’s room. He was hoping to find Ellone there. She didn’t seem to be anywhere else, and he knew that she had been staying here since the Adel incident. Maybe she knew something about what had happened to their father.
He pulled the door to the room open to find Ellone kneeling at a chair on one side of the room, face in her hands, sobbing. She was wearing her white dress with a blue blouse. Her green shawl lie, as if thrown, near the door. Squall noticed that the window behind the president’s desk was shattered.
“Sis!” Squall cried as he came up next to her and knelt beside her.
“Oh, Squall,” She sobbed, “It’s terrible. One second…he was here…I went to get something from the room down the hall…and when I got back…I just walked in the door when I saw something jump out the window. I-it wasn’t only him, though.”
“Sis,” Squall lifted her head with a gentle nudge under her chin, “Sis, did you see who it was?”
“N-no, I-I was too late to see anyone. I’m sorry, I don’t know what happened.” She said. She started to control her breathing and trying to get a hold of herself. “S-so, what brings you here?” She asked, forcing a smile through tears. It wasn’t to convincing.
“I’m on a SeeD mission in the area, and heard about the Laguna, and thought I would come see how you were doing.” Squall said, steering away from the whole truth, knowing that Ellone was not in the shape to hear about Ultimecia.

As Irvine walked into the main Hall, he noticed all the other SeeD’s to be and the faculty, all blissfully ignorant of the terror that had befallen there beloved town. Smiles of curiosity filled the room with a genuine sense of security, one that would soon be broken. Yes, there were a few worried faces. These belonged to the few that had heard about Dr. Kadowaki’s death. Even they didn’t understand the severity of the problem.
Irvine walked through the crowd of people, hands in his pocket, trying not to meet anyone’s eyes by keeping his by keeping his gaze on the floor. Why can’t everything go back to normal, he thought. So much pain and suffering. But then there are the Selphie’s of the world, so bright and cheery, looking at everything from such an optimistic point of view. Obviously, times like this even get to her.
The sound of the elevator’s chimes echoed through out the hall and interrupted Irvine’s thoughts as a hush went over the crowd. He looked up to see Headmaster Cid walking in an exaggerated pose, trying to smile and keep the atmosphere. Irvine saw past his façade, but he had to give him credit. How he could keep his composure, Irvine couldn’t tell. He admired Cid for that.
Everyone in the hall stood at attention and saluted. Cid motioned for everyone to stop.
“Please, though this is an important announcement, dispense with the formalities. I’m sorry, but my news is not good. Now, all of you will be affected by this, but most of you, it will cut deeply, and that is why I will give you some good news to start with. Classes are cancelled until further notice on account of…” Cid hesitated, and forced out, “War.”
Gasps came from the throng of SeeD. Murmurs of who it could be were exchanged. One man asked directly to Cid, “Who is it?”
“Our adversary is a sorcerer.” Cid went on to explain the SeeD mission to the Research base and about the destruction of Balamb. Sobs were heard through out the hall.
“We currently have SeeD in Esthar. They do not know of Balamb’s destruction, but we are attempting to contact them so they can attempt to gain allegiance through President Laguna. I am mobilizing the Garden and our course is to rendezvous with the SeeD at FH. Please be prepared for anything. You are dismissed.” Cid said and walked back to the elevator. Before he entered, he motioned for Irvine to come to him. Irvine made for the elevator through the crowd of sobbing people.
“Irvine, I want you to get Selphie and Zell up to my office. I have a mission for you three.” Cid said
“Sir, about Zell…We haven’t seen him since we came back. He has locked himself in his dorm.” Irvine explained.
“Well, if you need to, get a faculty member to help you unlock the door. But be quick. Dismissed.”
“Yes sir.” Irvine said. He turned to look at the people around the hall. The sadness and hurt that Ultimecia caused. The future that he thought he had helped Squall destroy was becoming a reality. He headed to the Dormitories to find Selphie.

hey, dude. cool story and all but i've got a few notes of my own. and if all hell breakes loose over this then blame yourself, 'cause you asked for it! here goes:

i just noticed one thing that i really don't like: the battle descriptions. instead of saying: "selphie cast triple on squall who then sent three ultimas in a row at the monster that then cast shell on..." you can say "squall barely managed to draw his gunblade and parry the awesome blow that sent him crashing through the heap of machinery near the east wall. the beast went at him before he got to his feet but zell was two steps ahead of it, allready shouting out orders to irvine, who sent two whole rounds of fire shots into it's back. it screamed and swung it's gigantic tail at him, hitting him right in the chest. he let out a loud gasp as the wind was knocked out of him and fell to the floor, holding his stomach but not letting go of the gun. zell yelled at the monster, who turned around just in time to receive the full force of zell's final heaven. even though he pounded it only for a minute, it felt like forever. it wasn't untill squall got back to his feet and grabbed zell's shoulders that he finnally stopped and let the beast fall to the ground and vaporise before their very eyes. "c'mon, zell. it's over." squall said and tried to ignore the pain in his right shoulder. "you did great." zell was surprised to hear him say something like that and knew that squall was probably feeling embarrased allready. but zell didn't say a word about it. after all, what are friends for?"

damn, didn't mean to write so much...but anyway, my point: don't describe the items, magic, hp. or weapons (except the lionheart, that is so cool) 'cause that is just way too much detail. and don't have the chapters so short, take it slow, have less happen in each chapter and have them longer. and try to focus on one character instead of all the six. and try to add more of the characters feelings so that people can really see what they're feeling and thinking. and last but not least, if you decide to kill anybody then a) don't do it untill the story has developed more...if i were you, i wouldn't do it untill at the very end and b) if you decide to kill zell then i will personally hunt you down and feed you to a blond comedian.

that is all.

hope you can use any of those ideas. :)

Well......TogiB....I think this story is coming along really good. Though, Gudni_fighter has a really good point. You should add a little more to battle than just spells.....though you should still use those. I also agree that you should put a little more focus on characters. Show their feelings more. Ohhh....and please dont kill two characters.....if you have to take out your anger on one....ok..please not two... I shall travel far and wide and ............

So...like i said before it's coming along better than i exspected....lol. I like all the twists you are able to add in.

Hi TogiB,

Firstly, congratulations on this fine piece of work you have created. It's very enjoyable to read and it shows u sure have talent.

Ok suggestion: Don't kill your main characters beocz then you will have very little to build on. I mean we all know how the main 6 charcters behave and look like. So like if u kill one or two of them , you might have to add additional characters to fill 'the gaps' n all. Creating new characters is pretty painstaking, you gotta give them a look, a personality and a behaviour pattern. So my suggestion is to stick with the main 6 and evolve the story around them. Anyways excellent work mate, keep it up!

Hey all,

Thanks so much for all the feedback. Gudni_fighter, especially. even though i need to go back and scratch a battle i just did, i may be able to make it better. ii have noticed some pretty weak areas that i wish i could fix, but i will try to do better. About the characters dying, i geuss i will not kill 2, but it is impossible not to have 1 die. if someone really wants a spoiler, PM me and i will tell you what is going to happen, and maybe you could help me find another way. expect the next posting in the next week. i was going to post now, but Gudni_fighter inspired me. lol:tongue:

Here is my next section. i still have a LOT to type up from what i wrote on my trip, but i thought this would hold my "fans" over for a while.

Rinoa and Quistis walked through the glass-like streets of Esthar. Rinoa walked somewhat ahead of Quistis, who was hanging her head, looking depressed. Rinoa sensed that Quistis had stopped. She looked back to see her leaning against the railing, facing out from the road. Was that a hint of a tear she saw? Rinoa always knew Quistis to be calm and in control. Now she seemed confused, lost, and depressed. Rinoa knew how she felt. She knew that Quistis finally, for once in her life, felt that she had lost control. Rinoa had felt that before, When Ultimecia possessed her in the space station. Every part of her mind cried out, but her body would not listen. She wanted to yell for Squall to help, but she couldn’t. All she remembered was Squall, persistently following her, even though she had lost control and was forcing him away. She knew she was mainly to blame for this whole thing. Now, seeing Quistis in the same out of control state made her think.
She knew that Quistis needed comforting, so she went back to her and asked, “What’s wrong, Quistis?”
Quistis turned around, avoiding Rinoa’s concerned stare. “I…I’m not sure. I feel like I am…I’m losing my mind, my control. I don’t know where to go next, or what is happening. I feel like I don’t belong, like I’m a shadow, following, not knowing where I am going.”
“Quistis, I know. I know how you feel.” Rinoa said.
“I know you do. If anyone does, you do. What can I do?”
“You need to look at the brighter side. You need to gain control in small areas first. Just be yourself, because I know you aren’t acting yourself. You need to relax.”
“I’ll try. Thank you Rinoa.”
“No problem. I’m here if you ever need to talk to someone. Oh look, there’s Squall and Ellone!”
Quistis breathed heavily and sighed as she turned her head to see Squall and Ellone walking their way. She shook the hair from in front of her face and followed Rinoa, who had already ran to meet them.
“That’s all you remember?” Quistis heard Rinoa saying as she approached.
“That’s it. Who or whatever it was had to be flying, though. There is no other way they could have gotten up that far.”
Rinoa looked at Quistis and said, “Ellone was in the room during the kidnapping, but she didn’t see the attacker.”
“Oh, are you alright?” She asked.
“A little shaken, perhaps, but I am mainly ok.”
I wish I could say the same for myself, Quistis thought as she smiled weakly and said, “Good.”
“What should we do now?” Rinoa asked.
“We need to contact Cid and tell him what is going on. Where could we contact the Garden, Ellone?”
“There is a communications array at the palace, but the airbase is closer.” She said.
As they headed toward the airbase, Rinoa made her way to Squall’s side. She looked up into his face. He looked on with determination, his jaw set in his classic ‘no-one-understands-me’ look. Rinoa quickly glanced away and frowned. She thought she had gotten into him, thawed him out. Was everything lost now that his mission got in the way? Maybe they weren’t meant for each other. He was a SeeD, and when his missions got in the way, she didn’t know what he felt. She slowly looked back at him and slipped her hand into his. He looked down at her and smiled. She smiled back, and when their gazes left and he held her hand firmly, she sighed and thought, maybe I haven’t lost him.

Irvine found Selphie still waiting in the hall for Zell to come out. He approached her and told her about the new mission.
“We still need to get Zell out. I haven’t heard a sound from his room.” Selphie said. “Maybe we should go get a faculty to help.”
“You can, I think those guys are creepy. They are way too strict.”
“Come on, you big wuss. They’re no big deal. Come with me.”
Just then, Aya, Zell’s girlfriend from the library, came running down the hall. Her eyes were red, probably from crying. “Have you guys seen Zell? I have been looking everywhere for him.”
“He is in his room, but the door is locked. We can’t get it open.” Selphie said. She felt sorry for Aya, she had lost everyone she knew, just like Zell. The only difference was that her actual family lived in Balamb. Zell didn’t know where his family was.
“Oh, I can open it, there is a trick to Zell’s door that he taught me. It doesn’t quite close all the way, so he just pulls the handle like this…” she walked up to the door and twisted the handle ever so slightly and yanked. The door opened. “There.” Irvine gave Selphie an amused glance and they proceeded into the room.
The room was as silent as a tomb. The wind whistling softly through an open window was the only noise. The open window, with a makeshift rope hanging out of it!
“Zell!!” Aya screamed as she ran for the window and leaned out of it. “ZELL!! He jumped out!!”
Selphie just stood there looking at the floor; Irvine went to drag Aya away from the window. “Aya, calm down, he couldn’t have gotten far. We will look for him as soon as we can.” He took the sobbing girl out of the room and they proceeded to Cid’s office.
Selphie hesitated. She looked up at the window, sighed heavily and followed the other two. Where could he have gone. Was he thinking he could take on Ultimecia by himself? They had to find him very soon.

The foursome in Esthar arrived at the airbase, which reminded Quistis of their original mission.
“Ellone, we came here originally to see if we could use the Ragnarock for a while.” She asked.
“Sure, what for?” Ellone replied.
“We are looking for…” Quistis paused as she saw Squall make a subtle shake of his head. “Um, a SeeD mission, just for a mission.”
Ellone must have noticed her glance at Squall, and she inquired, “What? What is going on, Squall.”
“Nothing to concern yourself with.” He said with an aggravated sigh.
“Squall! What is going on?” Ellone asked stubbornly as she stopped with her hands on her hips.
The others stopped to and looked back at her. “Ellone, I really don’t think you should worry yourself with it. It’s nothing.” Squall said.
“Well, I don’t think I will help you contact the Garden.” She replied, crossing her arms across her chest giving Squall an ugly look. Rinoa and Quistis were looking at the two, amused with their classic brother-sister type rivalry.
“Fine, we will find it by ourselves.” Squall said with equal stubbornness.
“Even if you do find it, do you really think they will let three strangers in?” By this time, Rinoa and Quistis were starting to walk slowly away, laughing to themselves. “Just tell me what it is, and we can go.”
Squall paused for a moment and said, bluntly, “Ultimecia is back.”
“Ellone stared at Squall, unfazed, expressionless. “Ok, Let’s get going.”
Squall looked at Ellone, shocked as she walked by. How could she be so calm about this? Rinoa and Quistis just giggled.

BTW, does anyone know how to contact square-enix, other than tech support? let my know if you do. i have some questions for them.

WOW! i thought you guys would all be against it or something, but yes, Gudni_fighter, it is a matter of time. i wouldn't expect it in less than a year, but i really want to make something. i am hoping to learn this as a jumpstart to my career in computer programming (hopefully for square-enix:) ) so, since everyone thinks i should attempt it, fine. i will start right away. the only problem is trying to write the junctioning system
if any of my readers have any experience in using Darkbasic or DarkBasic Pro, PM me if you want to help.

anywho, about the story, i will get another post out on the 9th, hopefully sooner.

here it is. i hope the battle scene satisfies you Gudni_fighter. lol

Inside the airbase, Squall quickly punched in the frequency for Balamb Garden. Cid answered almost immediately. He had been trying to contact them on the Ragnarock. Cid told Squall about what the Sorcerer had done.
“And on top of that, Zell has gone missing. Irvine and Selphie found that he ran away. He must have jumped out of the Garden. We don’t know where to begin to look for him.”
Squall told Cid of their situation. “Do you want us to come back to the Garden with Ellone?”
“Yes, she may be helpful. Come as soon as you can. We will rendezvous with you at Fisherman’s Horizon. Cid out.” Squall stood there for a moment in thought. Where could Zell be? He pondered. “Let’s board the ship and head to FH,” Squall said to the others, who were in shock after hearing about what Ultimecia had done, “We need to pick up Selphie and Irvine. I think I know where Zell is.”

Maybe it was the fire, the adrenaline that came with fighting in the heat. Maybe it was the eerie lighting that was provided by the bubbling lava surrounding him. Maybe he wasn’t sure why, Zell only knew he loved the Fire Cave. It was where he always went to let of steam and cool off. His anger mingled with the blazing heat gave him a sense of relaxation. He remembered the first time he had been there as a SeeD hopeful.
Every SeeD candidate had to battle it out with Ifrit, the fire Guardian Force. Zell headed to the inland lake where the beast rested. He was accompanied by his instructor, but he knew he could get along perfectly by himself. As he approached the steaming lake, he was startled by an explosion inside. He had to dive away to avoid being scalded by flying fragments of lava and rock. Ifrit floated there, steam coming from his nostrils, an occasional flame shooting from his mouth. His eyes burned like embers. “So, another weakling dares to challenge my power.” It growled. A roar coupled with searing flames came from his throat as he charged at Zell.
Zell was always talented in magic in his class at the Garden. Those skills paid off as he created a wall out of a few ice spells he had collected. Ifrit charged full speed at the wall of solid ice and howled in pain. The wall melted and Zell was again vulnerable to attack. He struck a few blows at Ifrit, but they seemed to hardly damage him. “Is that all you can do?” Ifrit rumbled as he shot a fireball toward Zell. Zell sidestepped to blazing orb and dealt a powerful uppercut to Ifrit. Zell quickly jumped and started a Beat Rush on the beast. As he came to the final stomp, Ifrit swatted him out of the way. Zell had to struggle to keep from falling into the unforgiving fire below. “Enough!” Ifrit bellowed, “You are worthy of my powers, call me when you are in need.” He sunk back into the lake as he groaned in pain. Zell, still on the ground, breathing heavily, stood up and punched at the air. He had won, and he felt great.

Thankee. there is another battle coming up REALLY soon after this one, but i couldn't finish writing it. I geuss this next battle will tie in more with my game, though, since it introduces a new GF, which i am planning on doing in my game. i missed Titan and Ramuh and all of them in FF8, so they will be sidequests in the game.

getting better by the minute, mate. but you might want to keep the chapters longer and with less stuff happening in them, ok? keep it up, and let's just hope that your game won't be like Eve (it's an icelandic game (well, the only one really) and it was supposed to be published two years ago but came into stores just a few weeks ago. it's been, like, four or five years in the making, but damn, is it good!)

and is your story's name just "and..." ? just wondering...

TogiB
07-05-2003, 03:17 PM
Well, this chapter is turning out to be the longest one yet. I can't get any less into them, this chap is called Sorcerress reborn, so there is a certain point i want it to get to, though i think i may have put it so soon. if everyone is looking forward to the end of this story, please don't. i have absolutely NO IDEA when or even....How this thing will end. i hope it goes for another few thread pages though.

about the game. it is going to take some serious time and commitment. something i may not have until i graduate from this inhumane torture called SCHOOL. i am, however, working on bits and peices, like trying to build a 3-D figure that looks anything remotely like Squall. do you think that if i get permission from Squar-enix to use their characters, that they would also send me the messhes?!?!? i am also looking for a way to do the junctioning system in BASIC. And you will just have to trust me for the quality. if you want quality, don't expect for a few years, and absolutely not until the story is complete.

yes the story is just called "And..." they are Ultimecia's last words before she is destroyed, and i was really ticked with that. so i decided to make it out that she didn't really die. I have a theory that if Square-Enix decides to go back and make FFVIII-2, that they will also bring her back. ok, gotta fly

Here is the next part. it is kind of inconclusive, but i don't have much time to finish it right now. it is still good though, i think

Now, back in the cave, years later, Zell walked along to a fork in the path that he had never been down before. This path was not marked, as SeeD candidates were forced down one path only. The path was not surrounded by lava, like the rest of the cave, but was very narrow and the walls rose to the invisible ceiling of the massive cave. He navigated through the twisting pathway until he came to a dead end. He was standing in front of a massive statue. It stood at least five times his height. Zell looked closer at the gargantuan piece of architecture. Whoever had made this had been very committed. The statue depicted a muscular man with a twisted expression on his face. His eyes were squeezed shout and his mouth open in expression of great pain. Every detail was so perfect, it was almost lifelike. Zell approached it and went to touch the rock’s base. No sooner did he touch it, that a violent earthquake threw him back. Dust fell from the top of the statue as it seemed to move on its own accord. Zell picked himself up from the ground and stared at the statues face as he noticed the eyes were slitting open! The statue was alive. Zell thought back to his childhood, he remembered hearing about all the Guardian Forces in the world, how Matron would tell him and the other children about the lost GF’s. The one that instantly came to Zell’s mind was Titan, the mighty god of earth. Zell trembled and took a step back. He didn’t know what he would do. Then he heard a voice, deep and guttural. It obviously came from Titan.
“You have woken me! You wish for me to allow you to use me? You are pathetic, and unworthy! Show me you can handle me!” The monstrous beast lunged at Zell, who had little time to react. Zell jumped out of the way straight into a wall. The room that Titan was contained in was not fit for battle. The walls were to close together for any movement, and Titan’s bulk blocked up much of the tiny space. Zell was shocked by his collision with the wall, but he recovered quickly and gathered some strength to cast a combination attack of water and thunder. Titan was taken upwards in a ball of water as clouds formed on either side and projected a lightning bolt between them. Titan came crashing down and grunted, “Is that all, weakling? It will take much more than that to defeat me!”
Zell clenched his fist and concentrated. “LEVIATHAN! COME!” He shouted. A portal glowing in a blue aura appeared and the water beast, Leviathan slithered out to meet Titan in battle. Leviathan swirled around Titan as Titan tried to swat at the snake. Leviathan hovered above titan and swirled around. There was a brilliant blue flash, as water drenched Titan, but the water passed right by Zell with no effect whatsoever. He didn’t even get wet. Titan howled and jumped. He grabbed Leviathan by the tail and began to throw him against the walls. Leviathan was getting beat up, bad. “LEVIATHAN! BACK!” Zell shouted. The lizard looked at him and nodded his triangular head. He then disappeared in a burst of water. The force knocked Titan back against the wall. This caused a chunk of the ceiling to fall straight for Zell. Zell had absolutely no time to dodge the falling boulder. This was the end.
“WALL!!” Zell heard Selphie’s voice. Suddenly a wall of rock surrounded Zell and protected him from the falling boulder. He looked back to see Selphie, with the others running right behind her.
“Come on, Zell, we gotta beat this meanie!” Selphie said. Irvine took aim for the monsters eyes and blinded it. It howled in pain and swept at the air around his middle, attempting to hit one of his attackers. Zell came at him in a flurry of punches, while Squall started a Renzukeken. He finished it of with a powerful Rough divide. Titan Howled, “Fine! You are not so weak with your friends. You may all call on me when you need me.”

okay, i noticed that i have improperly named these chapters. i will edit the last chapter, but this one doesn't have a name yet. this is the next, yet short, section

“What are you guys doing here!!” Zell exploded in rage as he fell to his knees and punched the ground. He could have taken care of that beast by himself, why couldn’t they just leave him be?
“Zell…We were only trying to help you.” Selphie said.
“Well, maybe I don’t need your help! Maybe I’m fine by myself!” Why did they always have to be on his back. He was an orphan for all the time he cared to remember, seemingly decided by fate to be left alone for life. The recent events at Balamb confirmed this to him. Now all he wanted to be was alone.
“Cool it, Zell!” Squall said, his temper growing short, trying to fight fire with fire. “You would have been killed if it weren’t for Selphie!”
“I would have been fine!” Zell sighed with his head hung, still on his knees. He slowly got up and looked at the others with a murderous stare in his eyes. “If any of you even think about doing that witch in, forget about it, that’s MY job.” He stressed the my by pointing to his chest with his thumb. He walked up toe to toe with Squall and said in a more silent, but no less malicious voice, “And, Squall, no heroics from YOU,” He jabbed Squall in the chest, “not this time. This time it’s my turn.” He began to walk away.
The others knew it was best not to do anything about it. They had known Zell long enough to tell that he would cool down in a day or so. He just needed time to simmer. Squall sighed, Whatever, let him be that way.

Anger surged through Zell’s veins. The adrenaline from the battle with Titan was still going strangely strong. He wanted to kill something! He was going to. Soon enough, he would find that murderer, and get rid of her for good. He thought for some reason, that just maybe, that would somehow make things better. He knew one thing for sure. It would sure make him feel better.

expect more later. i am getting a lot done on this now

i like what you have going here. to be honest with you, i'm surprised that i only came across your fic now. it's really entertaining and you got yourself some pretty good cliffhangers there. i've noticed that your writing has gotten better as the chapters went on. you started describing the scenes more and the characters' emotions were more exposed. let's see...well, i also like that whole Titan thing. pretty cool stuff, yo. well, keep up hte good work. i can't wait to read the upcoming chaps. ^_^

BTW, Siwolea, this IS my first fanfic, and i have noticed the improvement also. if you haven't yet, PM me as to who you are SURE :rolleyes2 is going to die! i haven't had anyone get it right yet, (at least i don't think so, i will have to check.) i am almost considering letting them live though. and i am sorry to say, i haven't finished reading your fic yet. i had just found it when i started mine. i will have to check it out, it started out good.

Dragon Reborn, if you are talking about the game i am making, then i will be bringing back GF's like Ramuh, Titan, Kjata (THE BEST!!), and a few others from FF X also, maybe even Anima. but in the story, i think i will only have a few more battles with GF's, like Griever (Who may be a GF in the game also. on second thought, he will be a main GF.) and Ramuh.

well, i am glad everyone is looking forward to my next post. i will be sure to write some more when i get home tommorrow afternoon. i don't have much time in a day anymore because i am working picking blueberries from 6:30 am to around 3-3:30 pm. :mad2: a peice of advice to all who are reading NEVER TAKE A JOB PICKING BLUEBERRIES!!!! okay, this is the official ending of Chapter four. for those of you who haven't noticed, i have renamed the chapter. i named it a bit premature. i reallywasn't expecting this chapter to go so long

As he walked out of the cave, Zell found Aya sitting on a rock in the grass around the path. Suddenly all the anger drained from him. He and Aya had been “together” since just after they escaped the time-compressed world. He was in love. He knew it.
“ZELL! Your okay!” She got up and ran for Zell, and they embraced. “I was so worried.” She whispered. “Are you okay?” she searched his face and body for wounds.
“I’m fine. I’m glad your safe. I thought I had lost you! I heard that you had gone to Balamb and then I seen that it was…” he said, but was interrupted by Aya.
“Shhh. Don’t think about that. The only think dwelling on that accomplishes is pain and grief. I don’t want my boyfriend to be grumpy and mean.” She said softly with a smile.
Zell started to pull away, “Aya, I need you to stay at the Garden. I don’t want you getting hurt…I mean, I know you can defend yourself, but I would feel better if you would just stay there.”
Aya searched Zell’s eye’s, “Zell, I personally feel safer with you around. After what happened to Dr. Kadowaki and Balamb, I just don’t want to sit around and wait. I need to take some action. I want this witch dead as much as you do. Please, let me go with you.” She put on her best pitiful looking face.
How could he resist. He knew he could protect her.
“Okay. Just stay near me.” He said. They embraced once again.
The others came running out of the cave. They stopped in their tracks as they watched Zell and Aya.
“How sweeeet!” Selphie squealed.
“Hey!” Zell said in surprise as he quickly pulled away from Aya. The whole group giggled. Zell rubbed the back of his neck and looked at the ground. “Umm…Squall?”
“Yeah, Zell?” Squall replied.
“Umm..well, I , er, I’m sorry about just before. I am just getting a little carried away.” He stuck out his hand for Squall to shake. “What do ya say? Truce?”
Squall hesitated, but finally stretched out his hand to meet Zell’s in a shake of friendship. “Truce.”

nice ending, eh? i geuss i will try to write more later today.

Chapter 5
Old Friends

The group walked back to the Ragnarock in silence, but Zell’s mind was running wild.
I need to find her, to kill her Vengeance was all he wanted now. Vengeance for his family, for his town, and for the pain she had caused to everyone. How far, though, would he take this vengeance? He might die trying. The thought had crossed his mind a few times, but he had decided, that if that was what it took to stop thousands of people from suffering, he would do it. If his single life could save thousands, maybe millions of lives, he was prepared.
Aya noticed Zell clench his fists. She saw the anger returning to his eyes. His thirst for vengeance had returned. What if he died. What if he wanted Ultimecia dead so bad, that he would die trying to save everyone else, to save her. And what if he wasn’t strong enough to fight her, and he died in vain. Aya quickly looked away from Zell’s eyes hoping he would not see the tears beginning to fall from her own.
Squall seen the way Zell had been acting on the way to the ship. He was unusually quite, too. The wheels in his head were obviously turning. Was he plotting another way to escape, to get away and search for Ultimecia? He approached Aya, who was walking about a foot or two to Zell’s left and pulled her aside.
“Aya, what’s wrong?” Squall asked as he noticed her eyes wet and puffy, as if she had been crying.
“N-nothing…I-I’m fine.” She said in gasps that sounded like suppressed sobs.
“If you’re sure.” Squall said, not convinced. “I have a favor to ask you.”
“What?”
“I want you to stay near Zell, no matter what. I think he may be plotting a way to escape again, ok?”
“Sure, I will.”
“Thank you Aya. I don’t want to lose him foolishly.” Squall said and went back to join Rinoa.
Aya stood there for a brief moment, watching Squall and Rinoa. She then walked up to Zell and held his arm. She looked at his eyes as he looked at hers, and she smiled. The anger melted from his eyes once again.
But to lose this... Zell thought.

When they arrived at the Ragnarock, Selphie took the pilot’s seat, with Squall and Irvine sitting at either side. Zell and Aya were in the passenger’s room, talking in whispers to each other, and Quistis and Rinoa were sitting next to each other in silence. Rinoa took off her necklace and began to finger the rings on it. Two rings. One from each of the most important men in her life. One from her father, and the other from Squall. Squall’s had a name, Griever. A picture of a roaring lion was embossed along the outside of the ring.
“That one is from Squall, right?” Quistis asked in admiration. “It’s beautiful”
“Yeah, it has a lot of memories with it.” Rinoa thought back to the day she had received the ring from Squall. It was just before they went into Galbadia Garden in that first battle. Just before they went to fight Edea…and Seifer. Squall had just saved her from falling off the edge of the garden. She was just about ready to let go, when she saw Squall speeding toward her in a Galbadian paratrooper’s air suit. She got on, and they landed, if roughly, on Galbadia Garden.
“Umm, could I see it for a second?” Quistis asked. She had always liked the ring, and she was curious as to how it fit.
“Sure, I guess.” Rinoa said in an uncertain but allowing tone.
Quistis took it from Rinoa, and slipped it on her middle finger and held it up level to her face. She looked in shock as she seen the lion’s face move. She heard a voice, deep and growling.
You…I…We are together again…We shall not fail this time…KURSED…SEED!!
Quistis quickly took off the ring and threw it at Rinoa, a little hard than she had intended.
“Whoa!! Careful, Quistis!” Rinoa exclaimed. “What’s wrong?”
“I heard her…it, I-I don’t know…I heard a voice I didn’t recognize at first and then….Then it was…it was her!!” Quistis was panicking.
“Who, Quistis? Calm down!”
Suddenly coming to a stop and staring straight at Rinoa, Quistis said in absolute somberness, “Ultimecia”

Hehehe. so? tell me what you think, and i will get more posted on saturday.

ok, here is seifer. it is mainly him reflectin gon what has happened since the battle with Ultimecia, but i think i did it well. will write more later...

As he walked through the doors to the classroom, a hush went over the students. Every student had great respect of this Instructor, regardless of his past mistakes and history with SeeD. He knew a great deal and was considered one of the best Instructors at Trabia Garden. Most of his knowledge came from all the years he spent at Balamb Garden, trying to pass. He failed the SeeD Exam almost as many times as possible, until, in the year after the horrific events with the sorceress, he passed flawlessly. Seifer decided to play it straight from then on out. On his last SeeD Exam, he followed orders to the dot, and did not mess around. He had noticed that his pride was what had gotten him involved in all that sorceress’ knight stuff in the first place. He shuddered to think how easily he was manipulated. He had caused enough trouble, now he just wanted to get on with his life as a SeeD.
After passing the SeeD exam, he decided to go on and attempt the Elite classes. He had so much experience, that he was jumped ahead of all the people on his normal level, including Squall, and finished a year before them. He finished top of his class, and decided to help at Trabia Garden. Once they completed the repairs, he was offered a job as an Instructor. In his time working there on repairs, he became friends with many of the students, Instructors, and even the Headmaster.
Now he surveyed his class. The students were a picture of perfection, every Instructors dream. Perfect scores, most of the time, and they had respect for their teacher. It may have been out of fear of what Seifer had done in the past, but he didn’t care. He knew the truth and he had told everyone time and again that he had changed his ways. And he meant it. He thought back to his days in class, and touched his forehead, where the scar from that fateful day still remained. At that time, he had hated Squall. He hated how he was always so…so perfect. But now, he did not hate Squall. They had not been in touch since Seifer had left for Trabia, but they had become close friends ever since Squall had defeated Ultimecia. Seifer explained that he understood now why Squall had tried to kill him, and Seifer apologized for the way he had acted. They both of course knew that it couldn’t have been helped, since he was under control of the sorceress.
Shaking off his thoughts, he announced, “Good morning class.”
“Good morning, Instructor Almasy.” The class replied in unison.
Instructor Almasy… Seifer liked the sound of that. Instructor Quistis… Why she came to mind at that moment, Seifer didn’t know. He wondered, where is she? What did ever come of the other orphans. Maybe he would pay Balamb Garden a visit soon. He wondered…

Well, i said i would have some, so i will post. it isn't much at ALL, but oh well

Squall lifted the ring up to eye level and stared at it intently. He slipped the ring smoothly over his finger. Nothing happened, no voice, no movement.
“I don’t know, Quistis. I don’t hear or see anything.” Quistis and Rinoa had come to the cockpit in a frenzy. Quistis was in shock from what she had heard, and Rinoa was just plain confused. Quistis explained what happened, and Squall and the others were pretty skeptical. So Squall tried the ring on.
“Give it back to me.” Quistis demanded, and she put it one her finger quickly. As soon as she put it on, she doubled over and started to groan. She fell flat on her back, unconscious.
“Quistis!” Squall exclaimed. He kneeled next to her and tried to take the ring off. It wouldn’t budge. “Quistis! Wake up!”

Well, i got some more done on the story. i am loving writing this. i hope you are all enjoying it as much as i am. jsut remember, i have no idea what will happen next, so i am just as exciting as you may be. lol

The steel burned. But it wasn’t only the burning, there was also a heavy presence in her mind. Her world went black. In the distance, she heard a faint sound of laughter. Malicious, evil laughter. It sounded just like Ultimecia, just before they had fought her. She started to feel strange emotions. They were emotions she could not understand, emotions that were completely out of place. She felt happy, almost joyous. Then anger swept over her, and she heard those two words over and over, KURSED…SEED…KURSED…SEED.
“Go away!” Quistis exclaimed.
KURSED…SEED
“No! Get out!” The presence of Ultimecia was unmistakable. Quistis was no longer in control of her body.
“NOW…COME…TO…ME…” the voice said, “TOGETHER…WE…WILL…DESTROY…KURSED…SEED!”
Quistis slowly seen the cockpit come into focus. There was a constant blurriness, like fog. She felt herself getting up, but didn’t have any control. She looked into the panicked faces of her friends. She tried to yell out to them, but she had absolutely no control. She fell back into unconsciousness.

Quistis abruptly rose when Squall shook her. She had a dazed look that was familiar to Squall. She had the blank look in her eyes that Rinoa had when they were on the Lunar Base. He reached out for Quistis’ arm, and sure enough, he was thrown back by some unknown force.
“Squall!” Rinoa gasped.
“Everyone, stand back! Rinoa, remember on the Lunar Base? I think Quistis may be under the indirect control of Ultimecia, like you were.” He explained as he got to his feet.
“Wasn’t that when she let Adel out? What could Ultimecia want with Quistis?” Selphie asked. All the time, Quistis stood there, with a blank expression, staring out the cockpit. She wavered side to side, and paid no attention to the others. She began to walk in a drunken state to the controls. As she placed her hands on the controls, the Ragnarock took a sudden dive.
“Squall, it looks like she is trying to crash us into the ocean! What should we do!” Rinoa asked in panic
“Don’t touch her! Just wait!” Squall said with amazing calm. Through the cockpit, a small island became visible. They approached it with amazing speed, and at the last second, Quistis pulled up on the controls and landed smoothly. The SeeD Stared as Quistis got up and walked towards the landing bay, still with the same blank expression.
Once outside, Quistis walked to the middle of the field, about 50 feet away from the Ragnarock. Squall and the others had followed her out, and watched her stand, motionless, looking up at the sky. Minutes passed before they heard a sound of rushing wind, like a derailed freight train. Then they saw it. A streak of light rushed towards the spot Quistis stood, and stopped just inches in front of her. When the light disappeared, Squall could make out a figure. The figure was wearing a SeeD uniform. It was the Sorcerer. The Sorcerer looked at Quistis and smiled. He took three steps back and kneeled down on one knee. Quistis raised her hands and cast a powerful Ultima spell. A green light was cast all over the island, and for a second, The group of SeeD lost site of Quistis. Then they saw purple streaks of energy fly into the air and come falling straight back down, onto Quistis. A bloodcurdling scream broke through the green light and the eerie silence. Quistis was hovering a few feet off the ground, arms flailed to the sides and her body limp. A purple glow engulfed her, and she disappeared.
“QUISTIS!!” The group yelled. She was gone.

Well, what's to say she isn't already dead? hehe, don't worry, she isn't dead.......yet? i am still not sure, but i think this whole section is pretty obvious foreshadowing to a possible death for Quistis???? i am still not sure, but my cousin has an excellent idea that i may use. she is on this forum somewhere.........

anywho, expect the next section be at most the end of the week. it will have a lot more to do with seifer......

Here is another section. i have more to post, and will post it later, but i don't think it is quite right yet

After hearing word of the destruction of Balamb, Seifer knew it was time to see what was going on at Balamb Garden. He had heard that the Garden was mobilized and stationed at Fisherman’s Horizon. Even though he was saddened by the Balamb incident, his main priority was to assess the Garden’s status. If it had taken any casualties or damage, it could be dangerous. With the way the world was going, SeeD were on high demand. And with the supposed “sorcerer”, the world would need just that much more protection. He didn’t know why the sorcerer had not destroyed the Garden when he had the chance. Why would he pass up his major enemy to murder a city of innocents?
Seifer breathed a sigh of relief as his ship came into view of FH, and he noticed Balamb Garden safe and undamaged. He looked at the great “ship” in awe. It’s sleek, blue curves making it appear as a beautiful seashell. As they got closer, Seifer could hear the vibrations of the spinning hover-rings, that were submerged beneath the rolling surf. The small waves they were making made the boat rock in a rhythmic, lulling motion.
He didn’t know why he didn’t notice it before, but the Ragnarock stood on the airpad, staring ominously over the ocean, like a gargoyle protecting a castle. What was it doing here, the thought crossed Seifer’s mind as the boat docked. Shoving off a feeling that something was wrong, he headed toward the Garden.

The first thing that struck Seifer as he went through the dock entrance was the eerie silence. The drone of the teachers explaining techniques of drawing and combination echoed through the halls. Looking through the one of the doors, he noted the lack of enthusiasm…no….life in the students. He also noticed that Quistis wasn’t in her normal classroom.
Seifer made his way to the elevator. He needed to find someone who knew where Quistis was. He was sure to find one of her Trepies, or Squall. He decided to check in with Headmaster Cid first. He would know where everyone was.
As the Elevator doors opened on the third floor, Seifer seen Xu pacing back and forth in front of the door to Cid’s office. She paused at the sound of the elevator doors opening, and looked at Seifer.
“Well, if it isn’t Seifer!” She said, in mock criticism. She kept the masquerade going by crossing her arms and glaring at him, but she couldn’t keep from smiling. “Oh, I never thought I would say this, but it is so good to see you!” she said, as she ran up to him and gave him a friendly embrace.
“Oh, but wasn’t I your favorite student?” He said teasingly, “Hey, do you know where Quistis is? She isn’t in her class…” He asked as they parted. That was his main reason for coming. He felt something was terribly wrong with her, but he didn’t know what.
“Oh, Seifer…” Xu started in a compassionate tone, “She…” Xu tried to continue but was interrupted by the doors bursting open from Cid’s office. Zell came running out, followed closely by Cid.
“Zell, Hold on! Wait!” Cid yelled. Zell pivoted on his left foot and faced the Headmaster.
“NO! You mean to tell me, we aren’t doing a thing about it? Quistis is gone and we are just going to sit around on our butts!?” Zell said. Seifer looked in disbelief at Zell, then at Cid.
“What? Where is Quistis? What is going on?” He said.
“Ah, Seifer….Your timing is…um…not that great. Quistis is…well, erm….we’re not to sure. She may be dead…” Cid said.
Dead. The word hit him like a brick, and thoughts started rushing through his head. Who did it, why, when?? “What?!” Was all he could stutter out.
“She isn’t dead! Cid just doesn’t think we can afford the resources to look for her!” Zell bursted.
“Zell, there is a sorcerer on the loose and the public expects the Garden to protect them. SeeD aren’t exactly as plentiful as they used to be, and we can’t spare any.” Cid said.
“You didn’t let us finish. The sorcerer was there! He died!” Zell said in exasperation.
“You don’t know that for sure, you could not retrieve any bodies.” Cid explained.
“Do you really think there would be anything left after a Sorcerer’s Ultima?!” Zell asked, “Ah, forget it, I’m gone!” Zell shoved past Seifer, “Oh, hey Seifer, how are you?” he asked as he stepped in the eleveator.
“Ok, yeah. I missed something.” Seifer said, rolling his eyes, as Zell took the elevator down.

“Well, what are we going to do?” Seifer asked. After Zell had left, he followed Cid back into his office. There, Squall, Irvine, Selphie, and Aya explained what had happened.
“There really isn’t anything we can do.” Squall said, “We have no clue where she could be, but we do know the sorcerer is dead.”
“I agree now,” Cid began, “Now that I hear how he died, it sounds very similar to what had happened when we seen Ultimecia die and pass her powers.”
“B-but, that means?” Selphie stuttered.
“Yes, Quistis is a Sorceress now.” Cid said with a sigh. He ran his hand through his hair and hesitated before he continued, “Squall, I’m hiring you for a mission. I need you to form a team, whoever is willing to go, and find and kill….” Cid was interrupted by shouts of protest from the group. Squall was the only one who stood unfazed. “UNLESS! Unless you find a way to extract the sorceress’ power from her without killing her.”
Squall hesitated and looked at the others in the room. He could see the looks of despair in their eyes, but he knew they would do what it took to get rid of the sorceress. They would go with him even if it meant killing their best friend.
He saluted, “Yes, Sir.”

Ok, this is where this story is going to become a little interactive. I don't know where to go next, and i think i am going to let you guys give me suggestions. that goes for ALL readers. Post it here, or PM me. give me a suggestion, and i will pick the one i like the most, and work on that. but these suggestions shouldn't go till the end, just a section. so in other words, you all can decide whether or not Quistis is dead. i will probably request suggestions a few more times through the story, so keep thinking. SUGGESTIONS ARE GREATLY APPRECCIATED!! and i won't write any more for a few weeks unless i get a suggestion or 2. thanx again for readin'!!

I am soooooo sorry i haven't posted that much lately. school is really in the way. but here is what i've got.

“I’m going with you, Squall! I don’t think any of us won’t.” Selphie said when they had gotten out of Cid’s office. Everyone else nodded. “See? This is hard for all of us, but we have to get her back.”
Squall looked at Selphie, then the others. There was an unmistakable look in their eyes. A look that told Squall that they weren’t sure what to do. They were looking to him for direction. “Thanks guys. I really appreciate it. I’m going to find Zell. We will meet you all at the Ragnarock.” Squall said. The group nodded and Squall headed for the Cafeteria in hopes that Zell’s appetite had gotten the best of him.

Zell’s temper had been getting the best of him lately, but Squall knew that they didn’t last long. Sure, Zell could be pretty mean when he was mad, but he never seemed to stay mad at anybody except his true enemies. That’s what made him such a good friend. And he usually drowned his anger in a plate of hot dogs from the cafeteria.
On his way to the cafeteria, Squall passed a couple of Trepies whispering the latest rumors between themselves. When they noticed Squall walk by, they looked up and stopped him. They asked, “Umm…Squall, Sir, We know you are with Instructor Trepe a lot, and we were wondering…err, are the rumors true?”
“That depends on what you heard.” Squall said in disgust at how fast news spread in the Garden. There were no such things as secrets.
“Well, we heard…she was…dead.” They said, hanging their heads. Squall noticed a tear come from one’s eyes.
“We aren’t sure.” Was all Squall told them, knowing that saying any more could fuel a fire of panic in the Garden. He walked past the two girls as they stared forlornly at him walking by. ‘Quistis, you had better still be alive.’

Sure enough, Zell sat there at his favorite table with a plate of hotdogs in front of him. Squall still couldn’t believe how fast Zell could eat a hot dog, especially the ones in Balamb Garden. He sighed as she approached him, and asked, “Mind if I join you?”
“Yeah, whatever…” Zell said, his mouth half full of hot dog.
“Hey, umm, we were wondering if you would join us on our next assignment.” Squall asked, taking a hot dog for himself and drenching it in ketchup.
“What’s the mission?” Zell asked, rolling his eyes.
“We need to find Quistis. Cid allowed us to search for her.”
“You mean, he actually believes she’s still alive! Sure, the moment I leave….” Zell said in exasperation.
“Zell, will you go?”
Zell took a deep breath and hesitated before he asked, “Who’s going?”
“Well, I am, and Selphie, Irvine, Rinoa, Seifer and….Aya.” he paused before mentioning Zell’s girlfriend, knowing that he might not like the idea.
Zell looked at Squall for a while, obviously thinking it over. Finally, he said, “Ok, might as well. It is better than sitting around here rotting!”

On their way to the Ragnarock, Zell started to think. He thought about Aya. She was going with them. Zell and finally softened to the fact that she was a capable SeeD just as he was. He knew he must have hurt her feelings, making her think she was unable to defend herself. He felt terrible about it and now he liked the idea of being able to have his girlfriend with him during a mission. It made him….stronger somehow.

oh, sorry. my weekend was really hectic and i never got around to typing much, but here is what i have.

“Ok, we need to find Quistis, but where do we start?” Squall asked. Everyone had met in the cockpit of the Ragnarock. Selphie was sitting at the pilot’s seat, as usual, with the chair turned around to face the rest of the group.
“Uh, Squall,” Ellone started, “What about Uncle Laguna?”
“Ellone, our mission is to find Quistis. I want to try and find him, but Quistis is our priority. But you do give me an idea.” Squall said. You could see the wheels turning in his head.
“What’s that?” Ellone asked.
“We need to go to Odine’s lab.”
“But he’s dead.” Rinoa said
“He died in an accident, or so they say. Quistis didn’t believe that, she thought he was murdered or something. Either way, I want to find out more about that. It may have something to do with our mission. We should check it out. Squall explained.
“I guess it’s worth a shot,” Irvine said, “Selphie, Let’s fly!”

‘Where am I?’ Laguna thought. His eyes weren’t adjusting to the darkness of the room. He heard the growl of machinery and the sound of steam being released. He was laying face-up on a cold steel table. Suddenly, as if coming out of a daze, he felt the pain. His legs felt as if they were being torn apart and his head was pounding.
Then he was blinded. A bright white light shined directly into his bloodshot eyes. He felt himself being lifted vertically. He heard footsteps, and a silhouette walked in front of the light.
“Ahh, how do you feel?” The voice asked. Laguna could not speak, but he felt like he wasn’t in full control of his body. As if dozens of souls were fighting for control of him. He was one of them, but he was losing the battle.
“Is your company bothering you? Heh heh, do not be afraid. Just let yourself go.”
Laguna attempted to speak, but if felt as if his lungs were on fire. “…W..h..o?” he managed to gasp out. His chin fell to his chest in exhaustion from the task of speaking.
The only reply he got was laughter. Evil laughter. Then the silhouette walked away. Laguna moaned and fainted as he was returned to a horizontal position.

MORE MORE!!!!

The Ragnarock docked at Esthar Airstation and Rinoa went with Squall to Odine’s lab, while the others stayed behind at the sip.
At the lab, they were stopped by an Esthar Guard stationed out front. “You are not permitted to access. Please move along.” He said.
Please, it’s important. Can we please go in?” Squall asked.
“No, civilians are not permitted.” The guard said in an adamant tone.
“We are not civilian, we are SeeD, and I am President Laguna’s son!” Squall argued, growing impatient.
“Then I guess you are sorry to here that President Laguna has been pronounced dead by Now-President Kiros. And SeeD have no authority here, so please move along.”
Shocked and frustrated, Squall turned and walked briskly past Rinoa out to the street. He turned to the right, toward the Presidential Palace. Rinoa chased after him.

Squall ignored the guards at the front of the Palace, and barged through. He didn’t make eye contact with anyone. He approached the double doors to the President’s suite and marched right in. The window’s that had been broken through were fixed and all reinforced with steel bars. Kiros sat hunched over papers at a desk in the center of the room. He looked up and smiled when Squall burst in.
“Well, well, it has been a while, Squall? What brings you here in such a hurry.” He said in his pleasant warm voice. He approached Squall and offered his hand. Squall just stood there, arms crossed, glaring at his father’s friend.
“You gave up. How could you give up and pronounce him dead?” Squall said through clenched teeth. “It hasn’t even been a week, and you ga….”
“No, Squall, I haven’t given up. I only pronounced your father dead because I wanted to put the public at rest. They were worrying about him so much, so it was better for them to think he was dead and go on with their lives, than to keep them waiting.” Kiros explained
“And what if he shows up? Then what will you say to the public?” Squall asked.
“They will not need to know. Laguna has been talking for the last few months about retiring, and getting back into journalism. So I am sure he won’t come back into control. And I am sure being kidnapped will be a good excuse for him to retire.”
“I see.” Squall was becoming more relaxed. He started to see Kiros’ logic. He liked how the man thought.

Chapter 6
Sorceress United

Rinoa walked out of the President’s suite with Squall. They had explained their plan to Kiros, and he gave them written permission to question the lab assistants at Odine’s lab. As she walked along, she looked at Squall. His all but faint scar accented his eyes. Those eyes that led directly into his soul. Thos eyes that told his life story. Loneliness. Rinoa thought back to when he had first met Squall on the dance floor at the Garden. She looked at his face from afar, and saw a stubborn young man. But he was handsome. As she got closer, she could see it in his eyes, the loneliness. Once she got him dancing, she saw a spark of happiness, something she came to find was very rare with Squall Leonhart. She would have loved him then, if it wasn’t for Seifer. But that was in the past. Seifer had been forgiven, but she could never love him again.
Eventually, Rinoa got to know Squall better, and began working on him, trying to get him to be more expressive. She had pretty much broken him down, but he still had times like now, when he would zone everyone out and sink into his own little world. She could call him from a foot away, and he wouldn’t flinch. She inched up to him as they were walking and put her are around him and looked in his eyes. This time, he looked back.
“I love you, Squall.” She said
“I love you, too.” He smiled.

The Esthar Guard at the lab let Squall and Rinoa in after seeing permission from Kiros.
Inside, it was quite. The only sound was the faint hum of a generator and the shuffle of feet of the scientists. They were met at the entrance by a lab assistant.
“What can I do for you?” He asked, eyeing Squall’s gunblade suspiciously.
“We need to ask you a few questions.” Squall said.
“Yes?”
“What do you know about Dr. Odine’s death?”
The assistant hesitated before saying, “Nothing,” and he turned to walk away.
Squall followed and called after him, “Why don’t I believe you? We just have some questions!” The scientist kept on walking, ignoring Squall. “Is he dead?” Squall asked. The words hung in the air for a moment as the scientist stopped abruptly. After a moment, he turned his head slightly.
“Follow me,” He sighed, “This way.” And he continued walking.

Squall and Rinoa followed the scientist through the halls and down elevators. The upper layers were full of activity, but when they got down about 5 levels, the place looked deserted. That’s when he started to talk.
“First of all, my name is Theo. I was Odine’s most trusted assistant. The doctor was acting a little…eccentric at the time of his ‘death’. More eccentric than usual. He had developed a weird obsession with the ‘Power of Hyne” as he began to call it.” He said
“Sorceress power?” Rinoa asked
“Exactly.” Theo said
“But wasn’t that always his specialty?” Rinoa asked again.
“Yes, but he was working on a new experiment. He was always chattering in his incomprehensive accent about his newest ‘Breakthrough’, something about the power of Hyne being fully available to everyone. Forget about the para-magic, this was the real stuff. Of course, being his most trusted assistant, I new what he was talking about. He swore me to secrecy when he showed it to me. I was not to even tell president Laguna, rest his soul. But I think this is an exception. I remember Odine talking about you SeeD. I think you could help me.”
“What happened down here?” Squall asked.
“Well, the day he took me down here was the day he died. To him, it was a day of a big experiment. I was honored that he chose me to assist him, but I had no idea what would happen.
“He brought me to this room,” Theo stopped and opened a steel door by inputting a code on a keypad. The door opened upwards to reveal a large circular room. In the middle of the room stood an enormous piece of machinery. Squall and Rinoa gasped. It looked exactly like the core in the Deep-Sea research center where they had fought Bahamut. The only difference was this had a door on one side of it, and there were wires leading to a control panel on the side of the room.
“What is that?” Squall asked.
“Odine called it the Mecha-Hyne. It was based on another project in the deep-sea research center, but that was a machine testing with creating Guardian Forces. This one, in theory was supposed to give the user a piece of Hyne’s power, like the sorceress received at the beginning of time. The results were much different than what was predicted, though.
“Odine wanted to be the experiment tester for some reason. I didn’t know why. He told me how to operate the machine, and he went in. I did as I was instructed. There was a flash of light from inside the machine, and I heard a scream, then a voice, calm as ever, telling me to shut off the device.
“When the door opened, Odine stepped out. But it wasn’t Odine. I mean, it was his body, but it wasn’t him. I don’t know where Odine was, but this was not him.
‘I’m free,’ He said. I asked him who he was, and he just laughed. It was an evil, hollow laugh. ‘I must go,’ was the last thing he said, and he disappeared. I ran. But I knew I would tell no one the truth of what happened, and everyone just thought he was dead.
“Thank you for trusting us.” Rinoa said.
“Your welcome, I hope the information helps you.” Theo said.
“It did, thank you. I think I might know where Quistis is.” Squall said.

Hiya TogiB! Great story so far, love every bit of it. And I would love it if u made it into a game:love:
The only thing that's bothering me is that you said you were going to have a main char. die. I know you've already finished it, and I regret waiting until now to read it, but I just hope it's not Squall, Rinoa, Zell or Aya. they make such cute couples and I would hate to see them broken up.
Well, keep posting. I can't wait to read the rest.

ok, RinoaHeartilly, I have finished the story, i have said that i will kill a character, but that was a while back. the story changed, no one died, but it still has a great twist and ending. the only worry i have is that i am a little..... mixed up with my story at the end. i have yet to finish the game in english, and i notice that there are a few things i could go back and change, but i won't. i am struggling to get the rest of the story typed up, but i will have the rest posted in a matter of days.

About the game, it is on hold until 1 of 2 things happen
1.) i find FF 8 character sprites and battle sprites for RPGMaker 2003 (If anyone knows where to find them, please tell me!!!!!!!!!)
2.) I sudden;y get REALLY good at C++, which i am currently studying in advance (i am planning on going to Full Sail in florida for their Game Design and Developmetn course.)

so, yeah. i would also like to see this as a game or movie, but only time will tell.

Oh, you guys are going to kill me for this......

When Quistis woke up, she was in control of her body again. Or at least she thought she was. He whole body was numb, and she heard voices inside of her head.
Her eyes were hazy and she reached up to rub them, but noticed she was strapped down in a chair. Her arms and legs were braced with tight, secure metal clamps. She looked around at her surroundings. On one wall, through her hazy vision she made out lights and switches and a console protruding from it. A network of pipes decorated the walls behind her and to her left, but in front of her was void of anything but a door. On her immediate left, there was a light shining onto a table. There was a huge light shining on it. But it wasn’t an ordinary table. It was too tall. Her eyes cleared up enough for her to notice a body laying on it. Someone was strapped to the table! Was it dead? She couldn’t make out any features. Where was she…

“Can’t this thing go any faster?!” Zell was pacing pack and forth behind the pilots seats in the cockpit of the Ragnarock. Selphie, of course, was at the helm.
“We’ll be at the research center in a few minutes, Zell. Sit down, your making me nervous.” Selphie sighed. “What are you so anxious about anyway. We are only going on a hunch, Squall isn’t even sure Quistis is alive.”
“All the more reason to get there quickly, we may have a chance to save her!” He didn’t sit down.
Squall was sitting off to the side. He was deep in thought. He didn’t know where to start looking. Quistis could be anywhere in the world. And it was as good a place to start as any. He was sure he would find Quistis there, but he didn’t know why. It had just come to him, something was calling him there.
“Finally,” Zell shouted and pulled Squall out of his thoughts, “There it is.” He pointed out of the cockpit toward the base in the ocean. The ship was going fast, and in a matter of seconds, the Ragnarock touched down.
The whole group filed out of the monstrous ship onto the landing platform. The ocean around them was calm and the air was chilly and salty. It seemed to peaceful, as if nature had no idea what was going on. Visions of the monsters that had been roaming below flashed through Squall’s mind. He looked at his group. It was rather large with Selphie, Irvine, Aya, Zell, Ellone, Rinoa and he. But someone was missing. “We’re coming, Quistis.” Squall said under his breath.

After seeing her roommate, Quistis heard a hiss, like steam being compressed and released. She looked over at the door and noticed it was sliding open. Her eyes were still too hazy to make out any features on the small figure that approached her.
“I’m sorry for the inconvenience, but I needed you here before the others.” The voice was deep, not what she would have expected from such a small person. Quistis tried to speak, but no sound would come out.
“Ah, ah, ah…” The figure lifted it’s hand as if to stop her from speaking, “No need to speak, I know what you are thinking. I can read your mind.
“You must know the history of this world. You know of Hyne, the ‘God’ that created this world, and gave you your sorceress’. But that is as far as your history is correct. The sorceress were not evil at first. They were meant to be guardians of the people from the monsters that I knew would someday come. They were meant to be guardians of MY people. Yes, Quistis, I am Hyne.”
Quistis’ eyes got wide and she managed to speak one word, “Why?”
“Tsk, Tsk. You are in such poor shape from the possession, you can barely speak.” He snapped his fingers, “You are healed.”
Quistis gasped, as her eyes cleared and she saw the face of her captor. It was Dr. Odine.
“Oh, you recognize this shell? This body was responsible for bringing me here. He trapped me in a crystal for years. This is his punishment. You may be wondering we you and your friend are here.”
Quistis looked at the table to her left, and recognized the body of President Laguna laying on the table next to her. “What have you done to him?!”
“No need to yell, my dear. He is just fainted. He was used as a….Container.” Hyne laughed as he spoke, “I used him to ‘Hold’ the essence of my sorceress on my way here. SeeD. You SeeD. Do you even know your purpose? What you are trained for?”
“To protect the world from the sorceress.” Quistis said.
“Precisely, But by looking at your history, isn’t it obvious.? You are trained to fight ME, your creator. The sorceress are the very essence of me, and you attack them, shun them. You are making an enemy of you God! And now I am here to punish the ignorance of the SeeD with death! I said that the sorceress were sent here to protect you, but they were misinterpreted. The rest is history, the sorceress war, SeeD, and now this. Ultimecia, my favorite sorceress, has greatly disappointed me. She chose a weak host. You.”
“What!” Quistis gasped. She was Ultimecia? She was the one who had killed so many, and tried to compress time. Why?
“They are here!” Hyne looked up to the ceiling. “I will leave you here.” he walked out.
‘I’m weak? Why? What is going on?’ Quistis wondered.

The group made their was to the room Ultimecia come back to. The room that was filled with monsters was now filled with bones. Something had eaten all the meat of their bones, and the place reeked of death. Selphie turned up her nose as they made their way through the mess.
The next room was empty. It was a nice sized room, but very empty. The door closed behind them with a resounding click. Zell tried to open the door and Irvine checked the one ahead.
“Locked!” Zell said
“Here too.” Irvine replied.
“Now what?” Zell exclaimed the crackling sound of static filled the room, and was followed by a deep voice.
“So nice to see you all.” The voice said, dripping with sarcasm, “I’m glad you finally decided to come.” One of the walls slid open to reveal a screen. “Recognize these people? They are the reason for you coming, are they not?” The screen showed the room where Quistis and Laguna were being held.
“Uncle Laguna!” Ellone gasped as she saw Laguna lying on the table, seemingly dead.
“Yes,” The voice said, “But don’t worry. I will let you die with them.”
“What do you have against us?” Squall exclaimed to the voice.
“You are SeeD. You are the enemy of Hyne.”
“What?”
The voice just laughed evilly and the radio shut off. The door ahead opened to reveal a room equally as big as the monster room. They walked out cautiously and the door latched behind them.
The air was tense. Selphie looked around the room, “Do you guys here something?” She said as she reached for her nanchakus. There was the sound of growling in the shadows. Then the sound of thunder, and a creature emerged from the darkness. It looked like a giant behemoth. The thunder was from his footsteps. The beast roared and charged. Squall knew they didn’t have a chance against this monster, that was a hundred times bigger than any of them.
“Squall, what do we do?” Irvine yelled over the sound of rocks falling and his own desperate shots at the creature. Squall thought while dodging the falling rocks.
“Titan! Summon Titan!” he screamed.
“Gotcha!” Irvine replied. Every one got to the walls as the monstrous Titan materialized in the center of the room. Titan roared and started attacking the Behemoth King. The room felt like it was going to collapse any second.
The Behemoth was remarkably agile and dodged a lot of Titans attacks. The room shook and threw several of the group to the floor. The Behemoth backed up and snorted. Suddenly it charged toward Titan and pinned him against the wall with his razor sharp horns. Titan roared in pain and fell limp. He slowly dematerialized.
Squall swore under his breath and shouted, “Shiva!”
The room slowly got colder as the Ice Queen Shiva appeared in the room. She put both of her hands in the air and formed two icicles. The icicle spears were hurled through the air and pierced behemoths. It moaned as it turned, not willing to give up, and tried to charge at Shiva. She dodged the charge by flying into the air and coming around back of him. As the Behemoth made contact with the wall, tons of rock fell from the sky and pelted him. Then Shiva shot a final Blizzaga spell at the weakened beast. A final rock fell on top of the Behemoth, and he shattered. Shiva disappeared.
“Well, that was interesting,” Irvine said as she shot a blast at the pile of ice that used to be the Behemoth King. “BANG!” he yelled.

They made their way through the maze of the research center, and found the room where Quistis and Laguna were being held. They went up to them to set them free.
“No! Don’t release me! She’s still here!” Quistis explained to them.
“What do you mean?” Squall asked.
“Ultimecia, she is still here. There are so many of them here. They just haven’t surfaced.” She explained.
“Then what do we do?”
“You stay there.” It was the voice from before.
“Hyne!” Quistis said, “It is Hyne in Odine’s body!”
“Silence! You just don’t get it do you?” Hyne said. The group looked behind Quistis as Dr. Odine’s body emerged from the shadows. “You are the reason for this happening. You are your own captor. When Ultimecia chose you, she made a bad decision. If I would not have intervened, the whole issue would have happened again. You would live forever, your friends would die. That is what drove you insane. You had to get back to your friends. It wasn’t fair that you were able to live, and they had to die. So you tried to compress time. Every thing was perfect in the past. You created a loop that has continued for thousands of years. No I am here to stop that, and kill the enemy of Hyne in the process. Let’s call it killing two birds with one stone.”
“Why did you get Uncle Laguna into this?” Ellone asked.
“Laguna, as you call him, was the first able body I found. The only one strong enough to carry the weight of 50 other spirits with him. Those spirits being those of the sorceress I have around the world. He has completed his duty, and will die along with you all. The only piece of power I need has all been transferred to your friend here. After I absorb it, I will be unstoppable!” Hyne put his hands on Quistis, and light pulsed through his arms, and brightened until Squall was blinded.
When the light receded, they were no longer in the room. They were…..Nowhere. It reminded Squall of where they had fought Diablos. Quistis and Laguna were sprawled on the floor to either side of Hyne. But it was no longer inside Odine’s body. Now a being hovered a few feet off the ground. The being was silvery, glistening. It looked like a human silhouette, with no features. Horns were protruding from entire back of his head. One horn was much longer than the others, and was lined with smaller tooth-like spikes The face had indents were they eyes would be, and what looked like a nose, but had no mouth.
“I AM HYNE!” The voice echoed in Squall’s head. He looked around at the others, but most of them were gone. Only Irvine, Zell, Selphie, and himself remained. ‘Rinoa,’ Squall thought, ‘where is she!’
“YOUR OTHER FRIENDS ARE HERE. THEY EACH CONTAINED A RECESSIVE PIECE OF MY POWER.”
Squall looked beyond Hyne and saw the others also lying on the ground.
“Aya!” Zell rushed up to her, but was repelled when Hyne lifted his hand. He groaned in pain as he got to his feet.
“NOW I WILL KILL THE SEED! YOU WILL NOT BE A PROBLEM.” Hyne lifted his hand, and it turned into a sword. He brought it up to strike.
“Uhhh, Selphie, a wall would be nice right about now!” Zell yelled, getting ready to dodge.
“I know, I’m trying!” She replied.
The sword came down toward Squall and he dodged it. The sword got stuck, and Squall took the opportunity to slash at Hyne. His gunblade did nothing to the God.
“YOU MORTALS. NOTHING CAN DEFEAT ME! I AM MERELY PLAYING WITH YOU.” Hyne chuckled maliciously.
“Yeah, well try this on for size! MELTDOWN ULTIMA COMBO!” Zell yelled. Once the green mist cleared, Hyne was still floating there laughing.
“HA HA HA! FOOLISH MORTAL!” He stabbed his sword toward Zell.
“WALL!” Selphie yelled, and a wall encompassed the group. But it wasn’t enough. The sword went straight through and stabbed Zell through the heart.
“NOOOO!!!!” Squall yelled as Zell clutched his bleeding chest. Hyne pulled the sword out, and Zell slumped to the ground.
“Eden…..Save…them.” He said with his last breath.

*sobs* Why did Zell have to die? Couldn't it have been Quistis or something, someone who didn't have a lover? Well. . . as long as they don't all die or as long as Squall and Rinoa (my absolute fav. couple in all the ff games) live through it, I'll be. . . okay. . . *sniff sniff*. But you really wouldn't have Squall die, would you? He's the main character of the game, and if your making a game of this, then it would end there. And you just couldn't have Rinoa die. . . Squall would probably kill himself after that. . . *sniff sniff* so few people can actually see how much Squall must love Rinoa. . . meh. . .

Lol, if I was in your place I probably would have wanted to see my reaction too :p
I don't mind it too much tho, I just had a lot of sugar yesturday. . . heheh. . . I tend to overreact on a lot of things when I'm hyper. . . heh. . .heheh. So yea, anyways, I still can't wait to read the rest.

OH, it feels soooooooo good to finally finish this. It has been my brain child for over a year. i am actually thinking about writing another, but not now.

“Zell!” Selphie rushed down by him and pulled him away, trying to revive him. Irvine went up to Squall’s side.
Squall looked up at Hyne, “You are no God! You’re a Devil!! And so help me, I will Kill you where you stand!” He ran at Hyne and unleashed the most powerful flurry of attacks. Irvine stood back and shot all the ammo he had left.
“NO! NOT YOU!” Hyne was looking up at the sky. Squall stopped and looked in the direction Hyne was looking. The Monstrous figure of Eden was coming down from above.
“HYNE!!” a thunderous voice came from Eden, “WHY DO YOU HARM MY PEOPLE!?”
“What?” Squall looked at Eden, confused.
“YOU! YOU STAY OUT OF THIS! THEY ARE MINE!” Hyne sounded scared.
“NO, HYNE. I AM VERY DISSAPPOINTED IN YOU, AND NOW, YOU WILL DIE ALONG WITH YOUR SORCERRESS DEMONS!”
After saying this, Eden started to transform. It shrunk to the size of Hyne, and actually looked a lot like him.
“I HAVE BECOME STRONGER, EDEN. YOU MAY HAVE BEEN ABLE TO CAST ME OUT BEFORE, BUT I WILL NOT LET MYSELF BE BEATEN THIS TIME.” Hyne shouted. He rushed toward Eden attacking furiously with his sword hand. Eden easily blocked all the attacks with lightning quick ease.
“YOU WILL NEVER BE STRONG ENOUGH, HYNE.” Eden said as he pulled his own sword back ready to stab at Hyne. Eden yelled as he thrust the sword forward straight into Hyne’s chest. “NO IS YOUR CHANCE MY CHILDREN! DESTROY THIS DEMON!”
Squall, Irvine, and even Selphie started unleashing on Hyne. Hyne waved his sword in a blind attempt to hit one of them.
“ENOUGH!” Eden said. The attacking stopped, and Hyne slumped weakly at the end of Eden’s sword.
“I’M SORRY…..MASTER.” Hyne sighed his last. He slowly dematerialized, and as he did, light like before blinded Squall and the others.

Epilogue

“And when the light faded, we were in the field near the orphanage. Everyone was there, and Zell, He was alive. Sir, I don’t know what exactly happened, but I do have a question for you.” Squall stood in Headmaster Cid’s office at Balamb Garden.
“Yes?” Cid asked.
“What will SeeD do? Now that there will be no mare sorceress?”
Cid smiled, “Well, I am sure we will still be used as mercenaries. We just don’t have an ultimate goal anymore. You fulfilled that goal, and I am very proud of you and the others for your courage.”
“Thank you, sir.” Squall said.
“But you know, we won’t be as active as before, so maybe you should….settle down, relax a bit.” Cid said, dropping an obvious hint. He watched Squall for a reaction.
Squall smiled, “Good day, sir.” And saluted before turning to go out the exit. To go look for Rinoa.

THE END

*huge grin* :D
how sweet. . . *sniff sniff* so did nething happen w/ Zell and Aya then?
I'm so happy for Squall and Rinoa (considering she said yes, which I'm sure she did) :p
Very great story, TogiB, loved every part of it. . .:D
I would love it to be made into a game, except for the game you should add a bit more on at the end, like scenes or pictures of a (couple) wedding(s). Just to make the ending more complete.
And if you do ever write another one, I'll be sure to read it. :D
