| Red Wizard 01-19-2003, 04:04 AM Alright, for those of you not familiar with how this goes, here's a bit of an explanation.
The EoFF Triathlon is a little something I came up with, and it's quite fun. Basically, it consists of three 'events', small challenges designed to make you think creatively and/or humorously. After I post an event, the contestants do whatever it says, and send me the results via PM. I then put them up on a webpage (using anonymous methods so as to prevent favoritism), where they are judged. After the results come back, the winner gets 5 'points', second place gets 3 , third gets 1
, and everyone else gets .5... just to be fair. Whoever (whomever?) has the most points after three rounds wins! Yay!
From now until Monday I will allow contestants to sign up. All you need to do so is post in this thread saying 'I want to be a contestant'. Easy 'nuff. Also, I will be using judges this round, as I can't trust the EoFF population to vote.
On Monday I will post Event #1, which will be due to me on Friday. The Judges will then owe me their judging results by that Sunday. Things will continue on the same schedule, with Event 2 posted on the next Monday, and so on.
Well, hurry up and get applying, you only have a few days.
EDIT BY BoB:
Originally posted by Red Wizard, but modified by BoB for the first post to make things easy.
...here is event #1.
Option A: If an Eyes on Final Fantasy movie were produced, who would produce it? What would it be about? Who would be the main characters/villians? Which actors would be cast?, etc... use your imagination to complete your idea of the EoFF Movie.
Option B: Take an existing movie and EoFF-ize it. Y'know, change the characters into EoFF members, change random lines and scenes into events that have occured here, etc. Just make it as complete as you can envision.
You only have to choose one of the two options. Once finished, PM me your submission for Event 1 with a title along the lines of 'Event 1 submission' by <s>Friday</s> some random evening when Red is here. Good luck! Anyway, I know it's like, Wednesday and all, but here is event #1.

Mr. Graves 01-22-2003, 10:25 PM Pretty tough order. I mean, I'm hard pressed to do a parody of an sci-fi/action flick, like Star Wars or Lord Of the Rings. Yet, I think a movie like The Brother McMullen, or Chasing Amy would be a good one to rip apart....
Gotta think, gotta think.... I'll have mine in by Thursday evening, at any rate.
EDIT: Forget it.... Leeza 01-23-2003, 12:52 AM Mr. Graves, I think that the idea is to be anonymous with our entries. :) Mr. Graves 01-23-2003, 12:54 AM oh....ok.
Its just that I think its really cool, what I'm doing. I'm sure people here will laugh at mine... can i be a judge instead of a contestant? eheheheh....

Mr. Graves 01-23-2003, 07:03 PM Sorry, people, I'm dropping out.
My mom did a GoBack on the computer I saved my story on. I thought last night, "Maybe I should E-mail it to myself...", but didn't, thinking nothing would happen to it. Well, something did. My mom did a GoBack operation because the computer was acting screwy. So, goodbye story.
I suck at writing anyway. I assume there's no way to jump in at Round 2, so I'm just quitting. :(
I'll be all over it next year, don't worry. Shiroi Kumo 01-23-2003, 07:45 PM I'll judge. Eh, i read the thread late. I'll judge if you like. Loony BoB 01-23-2003, 10:42 PM Yeah, Saturday please :D At least go into a bit of it. *unsure if he can think* CloudDragon 01-23-2003, 11:27 PM I don't think anyone will be offended by mine. Hopefully, that is, not everything is factual either.
Well, good luck contestants and get those entries in or something. Loony BoB 01-23-2003, 11:37 PM *PM's Red* Yay. I'm not sure 'offended' would be the right word for what people would be when they see my entry, but we'll see.
Red, I hope judging is going to be an open thing - ie, everyone that didn't enter gets to vote if they want to. Denmark 01-24-2003, 12:36 AM I sent in my entry, but while writing it I realized that I don't know much about what goes on here. I'm still in, though. I didn't think I would do too well. On-topic: I might post the story I made up on the Writer's Corner. It's called "Fast Times At Eyeson High". Almost all of the members who post here regularly, including myself, will be in it.
Oh and.... Shiroi Kumo is the main character.
If I can get up off my lazy behind but to actually write this thing, I'll post it. Just watch the Writer's Corner. Loony BoB 01-24-2003, 11:20 PM If there are only three judges, the points system is going to be crap and the judging will tend to be bias towards a certain style. This should be EoFF-Interactive. It doesn't say anything in the previous rules about having exclusive judges. It just says that there will be judges, nothing to do with who they are and how many people can be one.
It's always better when you have more people judging. Always. The more the merrier! Bring 'em on. Bahamut2000X 01-24-2003, 11:56 PM The more the merrier!
Awww but that means I have to <s>bribe</s> be nice to more judges to win. Leeza 01-25-2003, 01:25 AM It would be nice if the voting were more EoFF interactive, but if I'm not mistaken, BoB, last time I don't think that there were enough "non-contestants" doing any voting at all. With appointed judges, you will at least be getting those votes.
I have also become a judge and not a contestant. My present work schedule does not allow for any time for me to work on my entries. I am open for bribes. :) Logan 01-25-2003, 01:58 AM I would bribe you Leeza, if I was doing this. But I'm not. :eep:
My schedule is also too crazy. Grr.. Bahamut2000X 01-25-2003, 02:33 AM *bribes Leeza*
Hmm one down. 3 or so to go.:radred: Loony BoB 01-25-2003, 02:39 AM But it seems we only have about four judges :( that's less than the open option! CloudDragon 01-25-2003, 03:02 AM I talked to Red earlier today. He said that he is hoping to get 7 judges, and if that doesn't happen, the voting will be the same as it was last time, of course, it being that everyone and anyone can vote. Red Wizard 01-25-2003, 07:44 PM Right, well... it would seem that both the judge and contestant turnout is horribly lower than I was hoping, especially as I've only recieved 7 entries. Yes, seven. Because of this (and my lateness), I guess I can give all contestants until Monday evening to submit final entries. Also, any judges who wish to participate may send in an entry for event 1. Good luck, I'm sorry this contest is working out the way the others did. CloudDragon 01-25-2003, 08:43 PM Meh, so I guess that means the voting is back to way it was in the last one, unless we get enough judges. Well, it seems people are either slacking, or forgot they even signed up for this. Loony BoB 01-25-2003, 09:13 PM Seven isn't all that bad. Given that this requires a minute amount of effort and all.

Red, I suggest you shove your email on the boards, or if you don't want it public, at least make up some other one we can send the stuff to.
I know I can check your email usin' my uber-powers, but still! That's so much more work than the caption thing :( HOOTERS 02-06-2003, 02:38 AM Maybe you should just create a new email address for this that you can post here.

Sure Loony, sure. Del Murder 02-08-2003, 10:10 PM Muahahaha. Rizer 02-09-2003, 07:27 PM Wow... I can't make heads or tails of anything that's being said. Don't I feel foolish. That and I haven't been around forever. :o
Howdy folks. CloudDragon 02-09-2003, 08:28 PM So, is this thing still on or what? Leeza 02-09-2003, 08:42 PM I imagine that it is still going on, but with all of the confusion with the PM's and emails and whatnot, plus Red's heavy school schedule, I guess it will be taking a little longer than originally anticipated. Good things come to those who wait. :) Red Wizard 02-13-2003, 06:53 AM Alright, after 3 major tests in 34 hours and an essay, here are the results from the round 1 voting, the round two entries, and event #3... in that order.
Event #1
Contestants:
I'm too tired to table-ize this right now

3 = CloudDragon
4 = Hootenanny
5 = Linus
6 = Loony BoB

So, after round 1 CloudDragon has 5 points, Hootenannty has three points, Del Murder has 1 point, and everyone else has 1/2 a point. Yay.
Event #2
Rather anti-climactic link, huh? (http://www.geocities.com/starwarcj/index.html)
Event #3
Write a paragraph of 75 words or less about nothing.
Okay, that's about all the time I have. *yawn* Denmark 02-13-2003, 09:49 PM That 75 words is really short. It took me about 3 minutes, and I wrote exactly 75 words. CloudDragon 02-14-2003, 04:05 AM Interesting on event #3, this should be fun. HOOTERS 02-15-2003, 04:38 AM If it's not too much trouble could you put the event 1 entries back up or just post them. I just want to see what each person's entry was. Red Wizard 02-15-2003, 05:10 AM You mean these? (http://www.geocities.com/starwarcj/event1.html) HOOTERS 02-15-2003, 05:39 AM Yep thanks. CloudDragon 02-15-2003, 06:52 PM So Red, when are Event #3 entries due? Red Wizard 02-16-2003, 02:32 AM Let's say as soon as you can possibly get them in... or Monday, whichever is earlier. Leeza 02-17-2003, 08:34 AM I might not be able to get mine in till Tuesday. Red Wizard 02-17-2003, 10:14 PM ...alright, I guess I'll wait for you, just because I'm such a nice guy. Of course, other people who haven't PMed me their entries are going to end up in big... um... a big lack of points. Leeza 02-18-2003, 12:06 AM I got it in and it's still only Monday. :) Loony BoB 02-18-2003, 12:12 AM *doing his now* Blues Agent 02-18-2003, 12:35 AM I wrote about nothing a long time ago. Jeesh, you procrastinators. Denmark 02-18-2003, 12:53 AM Sheesh, it's not like it takes that long! Why would you people put it off for so long? It takes 3 minutes, at the most! Leeza 02-18-2003, 12:56 AM We have our mysterious reasons. ;) Del Murder 02-18-2003, 09:22 AM Give me another day. I've been on vacation. Bahamut2000X 02-18-2003, 03:58 PM I did mine the day Red made the post about it. A lot of people here sure are lazy bums.;) Red Wizard 02-19-2003, 06:04 AM Alright, when I get back from school tomorrow Event #3 is going up regardless of the status of completion of certain contestants.
Oh, and I still need more votes on Event #2... there's currently a 5-way tie for first place. o_0; Del Murder 02-19-2003, 06:41 AM Dammit Red, you can be so difficult sometimes. Red Wizard 02-19-2003, 06:42 AM Hey look, I finally got the entries all straightened out and votes tallyed and all that stuff. First off, here are the results after event 2 (again, I'm far too brain-fried to tabulate all the data)
1 = Hootenanny
2 = Del Murder
3 = Fiend
4 = Linus
5 = Agent Proto
6 = Bahamut2000X
7 = CloudDragon
8 = Leeza
9 = Loony BoB

So, that means that after event 2, CloudDragon and LoonyBoB are tied for first with 5.5 points each, followed closely by Linus and Hootenanny with 3.5 points each, who are in turn followed closely by Del Murder with 2 points, who is barely ahead of Agent Proto and Fiend who each have 1.5 points, who are still a hair in front of Leeza and Bahamut2000X who each have 1 point. Yay.
Oh, and here are the entries for event 3 (http://www.geocities.com/starwarcj/index.htm), go out and vote. CloudDragon 02-20-2003, 04:17 AM Meh, I guess no one checks the old pictures of Bleys or watches DBZ. ;_;
Hey Red, think you could get a link for the entries of event 2 for comparing with who did them and whatnot? Would be appreciated.
Voting seems rather difficult this time around. Red Wizard 02-21-2003, 12:29 AM Here you go, the Event 2 archive. (http://www.geocities.com/starwarcj/event2.htm) HOOTERS 02-21-2003, 02:27 PM Dammit, I new I should have referred to the whole Xena + Gabriel = lesbians thing. Or at least I should have made fun of Loony BoB.....people seem to like that.
EDIT: Sorry, always forget about that... i voted. *points to everyone* Have YOU voted?? Denmark 02-22-2003, 03:03 AM I voted when the results came out. So yes, I have voted. CloudDragon 02-22-2003, 06:07 PM Just voted yesterday, waiting for next results whenever they will come up. Loony BoB 02-22-2003, 06:09 PM Originally posted by Hootenanny

BoB* Blues Agent 02-24-2003, 12:51 AM When is voting for Round 3 going to end? Linus 02-24-2003, 01:55 AM Wow, we couldn't finish the whole thing in a single month. Oy. CloudDragon 02-24-2003, 02:06 AM Red's probably waiting a little longer for more votes maybe since it didn't seem like there were many last time, or he's been busy as he has been lately. Omg BoB has sunglasses on his sig!
and yes Red is waiting for more votes *points the finger of guilty doom to the people who didnt vote* Bahamut2000X 02-24-2003, 03:19 AM Hey don't blame me. I voted the day he posted that. It's the rest of you lazy people who didn't vote. *gives evil stare* Join with me Bahamut! and tog4ther we'll point our evil fingers towards the guilty citizens of EoFF!

VOTE PEOPLE VOTE! Red Wizard 02-25-2003, 08:18 AM I'm trying, here, people... just bear with me. My parents went and deleted my files (among which were located all my EoFF files), and I'm busy trying to find a way to reconstruct my contestant list.
Oh, the elections may as well start, as I've got plenty of votes... (I think) I just need to recover that bloody text file. HOOTERS 02-25-2003, 12:24 PM Originally posted by kami1004

But spekaing fluent spainsh is so tempting. Nah I want my cute little bow. Errr being the leader is what I meant............*runs away* Del Murder 02-26-2003, 02:34 AM It's still legible even with all the blood on it? Loony BoB 03-02-2003, 08:12 PM Has anyone seen Red anytime recently? CloudDragon 03-02-2003, 09:35 PM No, I haven't. It seems he must be very busy, and those files may not have been recovered yet. :P or maybe not enough people voted. *points finger towards the evil people* Leeza 03-03-2003, 03:00 AM Red said in his post that he had plenty of voters. I think that he's just a little busy. Red Wizard 03-04-2003, 07:10 PM Again, sorry about the wait, people. It would seem that my internet connection has been... forcibly removed, so I'm doing this from a friend's house. Here are the final results for event #3

2-CloudDragon
3-Bahamut2000X

Second first place tie in a row for the triathlon, and I was a part of both. xD HOOTERS 03-05-2003, 01:22 PM Yeah thanks everyone and congratulations Cloud Dragon on your second win. Also great job Red Wizard it was a lot of fun and very entertaining, thanks. CloudDragon 03-07-2003, 12:45 AM Wait Red, I figured out something you could give each placed person. Remember your Red Wizard points? xD You could bring them back. Last time you gave the winners 10,000 points. Mr. Graves 03-07-2003, 01:04 AM I'll join the next one. The only reason I dropped out is because I was half-way through the stroy of round one. And I didn't save my work when My mom's computer crashed.
Glad I have cable on my own comp now.
Congrats Clouddragon. :thumb: |
