The Wiki is cool, but is there a way for it to be implemented better? Perhaps a good start would be to link to people's member pages in their profile. Any other ideas? :P

Can't you do this yourself since the wiki can be edited by anyone?

He means the other way around. Link to the wiki somewhere in people's forum profiles. xD

Add a profile feild allowing people to insert a wiki link, therefore it's optional :p?

Plus the owners would love it as it'll increase their general Google page rank :o

I want to write people's mini bios and have them read. :P

I think it sounds like a good idea. I suppose making it an optional field makes the most sense because it'll let people decide whether to add it or not. Just make sure people know it exists so it doesn't go to waste, mind.

I like the idea that you can link yourself to your Wiki. Seriously the Wiki could be cool if more people visited.

Can't you just copy any missing information from your profile so that it mirrors your wiki page? That would probably be the most sensible thing to do. There are plenty of fields in your profile to add information about yourself.

That still wouldn't really help impliment the Wiki on a larger scale. Right now it barely gets any attention. Also, the Wiki is for everyone to edit, while your profile is just for you or a staff member.

I feel special when Yams talks about me. I don't think I've ever felt special

A little bit of a bump, but I just wanted to say I think this is a decent suggestion for once. :D

I also think it would be cool to have another field in the user profile page linking to the member's wiki page. If the page doesn't exist it should link to the edit page (you probably just tack "&action=edit" or "?action=edit" onto the URL to pass it via GET).

Maybe add a tickbox to the options that when ticked adds a set of links to view their wiki pages. Also Face if a page doesn't exsist it automatically redirects to an edit page :p

Oh good one there, having ideas implemented around here *dies laughing*, it'll get moved to the Site Staff forum and never been seen again as usual :p

Because we all know that the Site Staff don't actually do anything.

It's not, but the last two threads of such issues have been labeled "great idea" then just shoved in the Site Staff forum by some unscrupulous mod or admin and never seen the light of day again.

well do you want me to scrupulously move this to the forums staff forum? AND I BET YOU CAN"T GUESS WHAT IT"S CALLED EITHER!

I don't need to guess ;p

It's a forum staff issue because it involves editing the forums rather than the site, yeah.

I don't know. I'm scared of it ending up like the newbie usernotes: A lot of people writing crap on the newest member resulting in the wiki page having no worthy content.

OR! Newbies don't get a Wiki page (or at least a link to one) until they've been here for a certain amount of time. :)

Let's say you have to be a member for three years to get one.

Custom title = wiki page?

I think it would be better to have it in that drop-down menu when you click on a user name, to keep all of the links in one place. Otherwise it would confuse people.

That would also mean that the link would have to be in the profile for people using older browsers (or ones that don't work, with no specific browser in mind...) that don't play nice with CSS. I assume it's CSS, anyway. That would make the most sense. :p

Three years is quite a long amount of time :o

But I guess it would make sense considering the other jump 30 days to 90 days.

I said that to be mean. Roto hasn't made it to three years yet.
