Roto13 11-23-2007, 08:48 AM This forum is kind of pointless, isn't it? It doesn't get much attention, but because it exists we're not allowed to talk about video game music in the gaming forum. Wouldn't it be just as well to just make it only the Spirits Within forum? Better yet, maybe do away with the Spirits Within forum altogether and have a Final Fantasy Movie/Anime forum (or Squenix Anime Forum if you want to include stuff like the Chrono Trigger OVA) for Final Fantasy Unlimited, Spirits Within, Advent Children, etc.. I always thought separating video game music from everything else to do with video games was kind of weird anyway. :P

Heath 11-23-2007, 02:36 PM The music itself gets more attention than The Spirits Within does. I don't see why it's a problem just to check that forum for any posts relating to music.

Skyblade 11-23-2007, 05:43 PM My problem is that it restricts music talk to one forum, and keeps that forum away from talking about everything else. Call me crazy, but I don't believe you can isolate music that way. When I talk about the music, I like to discuss how it ties in with the rest of the game, how it works with the plot, the emotional drive it adds to certain points in the game, and the way it accents character development in a game's story. Similarly, when talking about the story I enjoy discussing points where the music ties in well, and anytime I do either of these things I'm always nervous that I'm breaking the rules. I wouldn't want the forum deleted, but I would like to know that there is some flexibility in musical discussion outside of the forum, and a little flexibility of game discussion in the forum, as long as the music is the focus.

ReloadPsi 11-23-2007, 08:46 PM I voted "Keep it the way it is" but only because there wasn't the option "Devote it entirely to discussing game music". There's enough posting in there on the matter to justify it.

Advent Children shouldn't be touched because it's still popular, but a Final Fantasy Media forum independent of a video game music forum seems like a good idea. Except lots of people will probably be confused and post the wrong stuff in it.
Levian 11-25-2007, 06:33 PM Yeah, I find it a bit silly to separate music from the games too. If I wanted to discuss music from FF8, It'd make more sense for me to post it in the FF8 forum, or post it in General FF if I wanted to talk about music from several FF games etc. I have a feeling the threads would get more attention that way too. :p Don't know where the TSW forum would go though, perhaps shove it into the AC forum.
Most people seem to like it as it is, though. ;)
