With the growing amount of new members and welcome threads an idea struck me.
How about introducing a newbie forum where all the welcome threads take place.
It also will make general chat cleaner and promote newer members joining the forums.
You could also make it a birthday thread area as well perhaps?

I believe this was already suggested before, but i can not remember by who or the reasoning behind the result

then we wouldn't have any threads in GC

I don't think there's an over-abundance of newbie/birthday threads in general chat, really. I think all of what was suggested fits in to GC fine and keeps it nice, active and relatively cheerful.

This has been suggested numerous times in the past and the answer is always that there just are not enough newbie threads to warrent such a thing. That and making it into its own forum or sub-forum would ruin the style...the panache that the fora have :D

We could move all of them to the Crystal Chronicles forum. That would kinda be like giving them their own forum. . .

We used to have a stickied thread in this forum listing all of the questions/suggestions that you shouldn't bother asking or you will get laughed at. I wonder what happened to it?
I believe this suggestion was on that list. :)

No, if we did this welcome threads wouldn't get any views, the only reason we look at the welcome threads is because they are in general chat, the most viewed forum.

People won't stop making stupid threads in GC. I'm not sure where people are getting the idea that welcome threads make the bulk of GC. Either way, it's mostly the same people posting in the Welcome threads anyways.
You can't make it a sub-forum, or else no new member would ever see it. There aren't enough new members who give enough of a damn to make a thread. But then again, we still have a Chrono-series forum, yes?

We've discussed this with the owners in staff and concluded the most visible place for introductory threads is in General Chat.

It does need some updating though so I will get on that at some point. :)
