Hi, I'm new
Sorry I'm Leaving
Yo EoFF I'm back in black! Yow!

Okay so one of those three types of threads are permitted- but why not all of them? The hi I'm new ones happen anyways and sure we expect everyone to know better than to post threads such as I'm leaving or I'm back, though why I'm not entirely sure... because of course there are some exceptions permitted... my own wasn't permitted (despite the fact it wasn't actually an I'm back thread) though there have been rare occassion where a few have been allowed.

But why not just let these waltzes and mambos go on of their own accord in a big separate forum/subforum posted in GC or right above it.

It would reduce the one in every 5 or so threads spawning in GC and allow returning members to announce their return in a fashionable way instead of just waiting around for people to notice them.

Give greeting threads a home!
Say no to no Goodbyes!

EDIT:

Okay so currently on the GC page there are5 Hi I'm new threads and 1 I'm Back threads.
The subforum could be a members announcements page similar to staff announcements and include a melee of back, New, Goodbye and Birthday threads.

A lot of people would go away for 1 week and come back and be all like, "hello I'm back!" and that would be so stupid. I'm back threads should be limited to people who have been gone for like... a year or something. And besides, there's only a handful of people that would actually get decent responses to their I'm back threads. All the rest would get "What? Who are you?" and "Who cares?" sorta responses. A separate forum dedicated to I'm going and I'm back threads would be so useless. A thread might be better.

I like the idea :P

Though what Miriel said about the "I'm back" threads is sorta true :P

but a birthday/newbie subforum would be kewl O:

You'll get one of two responses:
"I'm sorry, I didn't know this was here."
"hai guize ima new i wanna b friendz"

Besides, very few people that introduce themselves actually bother to stay more than a week. I went right ahead and said something stupid, and here we are, 18 months later. Not that I've stopped saying stupid things.

To be honest, I think of people are going to leave EoFF then they'd just tell the relevant people over MSN/AIM/LJ/IRC/whatever anyway. Either that or just notice when people stop posting xD

What about a user Announcements
An addition where approved user "announcements" may be posted underneath staff announcements - or something - so that these types of things could just be made without all the subsequent posts

I really doubt anyone would care, that and announcements are only for important things really.

Except when a moderator is goofing off, or something to that extent.

Don't worry, Ashley. We'll never forget you or your drunken escapades.

You people need to learn, bribe Yams first, then make a thread in feedback about it, then it will be done :eyerolls:
