Ciddie Idea~

I just got a cool idea which maybe we can incorporate into the next ciddie.

Normally we have 50 ciddies total, I say this time we have a 51st Ciddie that is decided by the members! We could hold nominations a month before the ciddies and then voting 2 weeks after. It'd be a nice way to get into the Ciddie mood, and a fun little thing for all the members.

Plus this is probably the most plausible idea I've ever had :P
Seriously though it wouldn't be very difficult to incorporate in and could be a lot of fun, we can have it on a trial run in the next Ciddies and if it works keep it.

This is more a matter for Award Guy than a matter for the forums staff.

And if I had the opertonity to vote on the MLT for the last two ciddies it wasn't made very clear :O

It was a thread in General Chat where you could vote. Don't feel like looking for the thread right now. Maybe it wasn't done last time.

Technically, this is already being done. While there are 50 awards in the Ciddies, aren't two of them decided by the members already? I'm pretty sure since those are the pairing types, like Pinky & The Brain, Homer & Marge, etc. Though it's not what you're probably thinking, unless you have some sort of different idea. Plus there are the other "Ciddies" that staff votes on. There can't be a 51st Ciddie that's decided by the members. How are we going to decide what's it going to be? I think it's pointless to even consider this, it's just "another Ciddie" along with the other 50. How is it more special than "Most Likely to be ran over by a bus." or "Most Likely to be driving the bus"? if it's something as ridiculous? And besides, isn't it already the case that most of the members forumwide already vote during the Ciddies? Just because it sounds like a good idea doesn't mean it is a good idea. I'm sorry Boko, but this idea doesn't sound really feasible to me. But who am I kidding, it's not my thing to jump in here to say this is a bad idea, I'm just giving my thought into this. Personally, I don't like the idea, because I find it's pointless, unless you can show us how you want this done. If it's different from what I envision, then it's possible it can be done.

Yes, there's been voting on the duo awards, so this wouldn't be much different from that. Award Guy changes a lot of the awards each year and he's usually quite eager to hear category suggestions, so you could do either one of these:

-Make a thread asking people for suggestions, like this one. (http://forums.eyesonff.com/general-chat/86008-new-ciddie-category-suggestions.html)
-Send him a PM with your personal suggestions
-Chat! Award Guy is usually pretty active in chat and pesters the users to help him with categories.

But yes, this is all up to Award Guy himself, whoever that might be. It's not going to be me next time, as the revelations almost killed me last time and I have exams in that period.

I may very well return to action next time around, depending on when we decide to have them and how busy I am at the time. I think I should be okay, though... we'll see. Anyway!

The main reason I don't have people voting on just any kind of award is that, when deciding on awards, you need to take into account a hell of a lot more than you'd think, and most of the time people don't want to do that.

The main three things you need to do is ensure that none of the Ciddies will be too similar to other Ciddies - eg. you should avoid having Stupist Member AND Dumbest Member, and Craziest and Weirdest will more than likely end up with similar nominees, etc. - and secondly, you need to ensure that there is good variety for all the basic ideas, eg. you should have something for all sorts of personality types, and finally you need to ensure that you don't create awards that will have very obvious winners that pretty much everyone will nominate. A good example would be "MLT be a robot" of which I'm fairly certain everyone would nominate crono_logical, because he is a robot. You should have them open rather than closed off to certain groups, too. Best Member of the Chin Patrol isn't what you should be after, they can have their own awards if they need to. Really, the only awards that should cut out people are the grouped awards (eg. Best Veteran) and the gender awards (eg. Best Male).

I do however consult a lot of people when coming up with ideas for awards, and a lot of them have been generated through feedback, too.

Veteran group keeps getting bigger and bigger ;) Best Oldbie, imo.

Actually, I don't care. Ciddies are still ages away, aren't they. :p I always manage to miss them usually.

This would make the revelations even longer for whoever Award Guy may be next time round! :jess:
