Issues

Hey guys,

I just wanted to consolidate the list of issues with the site.

1. Community Links
2. Quick Reply AJAX - I'm not precisely sure how to reproduce this
3. Speed Issues - There should be NO speed issues right now. If stuff is timing out, please let me know as it's important to us for the site to be working at reasonable speeds at all times (except Saturday night at around 2am when the server does its backups).

Please post if you have any information regarding #2 and #3.

Thanks,
Warren

Every now and then certain threads won't load for me, and will time out.

Like the windows thread in GC won't load for me.

Quick reply AJAX bug is where when you post, it would potatially take the number of visible posts over the number supposed to display, e.g. you make post 31, 61, 91 etc. when there's a 30-per-page limit. I think this might be a vB bug, but you'll need to test on a clean install of vBulletin without our customisations to confirm :p

This problem never existed beforehand - it would simply load up all the replies and throw yours into it, without refreshing or reloading any pages. No problems at all. I suspect it's something to do with vBSEO, although I couldn't say for certain.

EDIT: Or it could have come about in the moves between servers, maybe?

EDIT: This might help - Quick Reply & Edits in AJAX - vBulletin Community Forum (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=238091&highlight=quick+reply) - unless you're saying that the bug is simply that it doesn't take you to a new page, which is actually a good thing and entirely the point of AJAX, so is therefore not a bug.

I have my per page set to 50 and never encountered the QR bug. Site has been fast as lightning too :)

Community links are non-functional though

I have my posts-per-page set to 100 and I haven't had any issues either. But as BoB said, if it's post 31, 51, 101, etc... that you're adding and it's not taking you to a new page, that's working as designed, as AJAX is only supposed to submit/refresh part of the page instead of resubmitting the entire enchilada.

Dunno if it's "as designed", because I do remember that at one point, it'd happily tack the new post on at the end even if there were now more posts than there should be on the page. I wouldn't be surprised if it's something to do with the forums/thread URLs appearing as readable instead of the old .php?variable=somthing style though if it isn't a vB bug :p

Okay, I fixed the community links. Apparantly a vbSEO setting was screwing with it.

If you set it to 50 posts a page, you're that less likely to make the 51 or 101th posts. Something like 2/5 as likely!

The quick reply bug DOES take you to a new page because it thinks 'lol 31 posts' and then it just gives you a blank page.

I think I've suggested it was because of vbseo before. lol super secret staff forum thread (http://forums.eyesonff.com/staff-forum/107009-ajax-something.html)

But I'm glad that you're thoroughly educated about the issue.
