There will probably be an announcement explaining it shortly.

It's been longer than shortly. I want to know, too.

I don't know exactly what they do, but I think they're sites that you can share stuff that you like with the world/internet, and then people can rate stuff etc. Try clicking the buttons and see for yourself, nothing will happen once you do since you need to be a member of the respective sites before anything happens. Clicking them might give you a little insight too, should be some information on those sites. I do know the purpose of the buttons, though. It is to increase traffic to this site.

Anyway, I bet someone with more knowledge on this will come around to this thread soonish. :p

The buttons are an attempt to link EoFF to several sharing networks. If you're not a member of any of those networks, ignore the buttons. Or join one of the networks. I'm a member of one. Not one of those four, but a different one.

... who would want to digg an EoFF post?

Well, your mom, for one.

Also... I don't know. Maybe if we unban Kathryn.

I mean, I've seen digg/fark/whatever submission links after articles, some fairly well-read blogs, etc. But individual forum posts? I just don't see it ever being used.

According to staff discussions, it's had positive results at similar message boards, so we're assuming it'll have the same results here.

We're looking at it based on the perspective of the forums using it, rather than the perspective of what you tend to see on those sites themselves.

If it doesn't work, I'm sure the buttons will come down. As it is, I don't think they're obtrusive enough that this little experimentation should inconvenience anyone.

Is del.icio.us a porn site or possibly connected to Del Murder? I'm to afraid to look.

del.icio.us is a public bookmark site, basically. or something like that.

Maybe it has something to do with banned member Indelacio.

Indelacio was Marick's first account. Or one of his accounts before Marick.

Also, stop spamming this thread.

It amuses me that the staff has made the majority of posts in this thread and another staff member has to yell at them for spamming. Maybe I will... uh, Furl that post (wtf is Furl?).

Why can't we tag the first post?

Edit: Or our own posts?

There should be a drop down saying 'Linkbacks' that has an option to do all those things int hem.

I think the 'not your own post' thing is to keep people from being egoistic and pricks.

Cool, I see them. As if forums weren't enough of a time waster, now there are more ways to sell your soul to them. :)

Aww, I was going to make a Raistlin joke in regards to the egotistic part but the prick part would take that joke from PG-13 to R. Boo rubah. Hooray beer!

Heh...if EoFF got listed on Slashdot or a high-traffic Digg for something (which is not very likely), it would be very obvious because the site would probably go under for a few hours, worse than the Ciddies were on the previous server. :p

Here's an observation made without any background check -- can we digg posts that are in EoEo, and if so, how do people who click on the links read?

Oh wait, they have to make accounts. I see where this is going. You're trying to steal my lucky charms! Well you can't have it, my marshmellow master ball will capture your marshmellow pikasaur!

We've proposed to the owners to get rid of the links in Eoeo and they never got back to us.
