Location: Insert witty location humor here. | Rysan snow beast environment: Rysia snow fields encounter: Uncommon
The snow beasts of Rysa are ursine creatures, appearing much like slender, sleek bears. They are pack animals, moving in groups between 4 and 12. Their broad paws allow them to move across the surface of delicate ice and snow with relative ease. Their mottled white fur gives them a disturbing amount of camoflauge. They are fairly intelligent, able to make effective use of pack tactics- attacking from several directions at once and cutting off individual members of groups. The same claws long claws they use for weapons also makes them effective burrowers, and a single pack will have a burrow network representataive of the size of the pack. Following a snow beast into its burrow is sometimes used as an analogy for an incredibly stupid act in Rysa. Ublar Environment: Any cold terrain Encounter: Uncommon
Ublars appear as exceptionally large, six legged mammoths, with very broad, manipulative feet which allow for navigation of difficult terrain. Ublars are relatively docile omnivores, living off a combination of sparse vegitation, tree leaves, and fish, which they catch by sucking water into their trunks. Ublars are generally good natured, and take training and interaction with other beings very well, and as such make wonderful workhorse animals and very heavy calvary. They are unsuited for offensive operations or trade however as they do not take well to warm climates or sea travel. Rock drake Environment: Any mountain Encounter: Common
Rock drakes are small draconic creatures, growing no longer than two meters from snout to tail. They are incredibly fast and agile, able to scamper across sheer vertical rock faces, cling to the ceilings of caves, and fly through impossibly small openings. They can see well, and can also navigate in complete darkness using echo location. Rock drakes are unintelligent and vicious, killing everything they can before consuming it. They can be found as solitary specimines or packs, but such packs are never well organized and often plauged with infighting, especially over food. Settlements near rock drake haunts consider them a significant nusiance, especially when they lie near trade routes. In such cases, there is often work to be had thinning out their numbers. Rock drake teeth and claws are often used in toolmaking, but despite the incentives to hunt them, their terrific rate of reproduction makes them highly resilient to attempts to get rid of them. |
